When Nightmares Become Reality

When we reached the corner of Eleanor's street Niall’s phone beeped and he pulled it out revealing a text message, he read it out loud. “Hey Niall, we’ve all left and we’ve gone to your favourite club. Danielle went home; Jazz can either come with you or go back to Dani’s Love you Niall ;) –Zayn”
After he read it out loud he lowered his phone and looked at me, his eyes questioning. “You can go if you want, but I'm not really in the mood. It’s been a long day and I'm pretty tired”
He nodded “Okay, I’ll take you home” He grabbed my hand and started to walk to direction of Danielle’s house. I stopped and turned to face him.
“Isn't your club that way?”
“Yeah, but I can’t let you walk home by yourself.” He turned to face me now.
“It’s okay, it’s not that far. I can walk by myself; I'm not a little girl.” I smiled up at him.
“I know, but it’s still not very nice to let a woman walk by themselves.”
“I insist Niall” I squeezed his hand and he let out a breath realizing he wasn’t going to win.
“Okay, you know where it is right?”
“Yes Niall” I stood on my tip toes and kissed his cheek lightly. “Good bye” I walked a couple of steps after releasing his hand and heard him whisper.
“Bye Mi Amor” I knew enough Spanish to know what it meant. ‘My love’ I always found it corny when people called each other nicknames, but this felt nice.

I got to Danielle's front yard smiling like crazy and reached the front door. There was an envelope addressed to me, stuck to the front door. I pulled it off the door and looked around to see if anybody was around, but nothing was there. I didn't want to open it tonight, I didn't want to ruin this night. I brought my hand up and knocked on the door and heard Danielle scream from inside the house.
She opened the door and I hid the envelope behind my back. “Hey, sorry it’s just freezing out here and I don’t have a key so I can’t really just let myself in” I laughed and Danielle smiled down to me before walking back to the lounge room. “Do you mind if I go straight to bed, I'm kind of tired?” I asked quietly, feeling a little awkward.
No, no of course not Jazz!” She looked back to me. “There’s a spare room down the end of the hall, and you're welcome to use the bathroom and shower and stuff, make yourself at home.” She smiled before collapsing back on the lounge again.
After I showered and brushed my teeth and hair, I crawled into the bed. I rested my head on the soft pillows and fell asleep thinking about all the things that happened today; finding out Liz was murdered, going to the police station, finding the notes and finally kissing Niall. I feel asleep smiling.
My dream wasn’t as pleasant however. I dreamt of being chased in a forest, I was trying to scream as loud as I could but nothing would come out, my throat was constricted and my lungs felt like they were on fire but I knew if I stopped running the pursuer would catch me. I felt deep down that I knew that couldn’t happen, I wouldn’t give them the chance to touch me. I kept running and looking back on the occasion to see someone dressed in all black with a mask on. The runner was getting closer every time I looked back, I looked back a fourth time and saw the person jump on me. Bringing me to the ground, we both went tumbling down and I landed on my back, the masked person was on top of me, pinning me down now. I tried to move, to push them off but nothing was working, I couldn’t move anything. I tried to yell again but my voice only came out as a whisper. I kept yelling and yelling for anybody. “HELP! ANYBODY! NIALL! MUM? SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!” My voice had become louder now. “PLEASE SOMEBO-“ My voice was cut off, the person had curled their hands around my neck stopping my air supply. My hands were free now, I scratched and clawed at the face, neck, arms, hands anything I could reach of this person on top of me. I could feel myself going unconscious now; I brought my hands up to the mask, my vision getting darker and darker as the seconds go by. I pulled the mask off and my eyes feel down, causing me to succumb to darkness. I woke up in Danielle’s spare room, remembering the past day.
I got up soaked in sweat and tears had fallen from my eyes, this was the type of nightmare where I would go to my mother and she would make me hot chocolate and we would sit and talk until I felt good enough to go to sleep again, but I knew that wasn’t going to happen. My mother wasn’t here now, so I needed to clear my mind myself. I looked out the window to see the sun starting to come up, not enough to lighten everything but enough to find my way through the house and get ready for jogging.
I opened the front door and the air was chilly, but it was exactly what I needed, I walked down the foot path plugging in my headphones and pressing play to the music. I began walking to the right not knowing exactly where but anywhere, I closed my eyes and walked for a little while, but the image of the masked person flashed through my mind and I shook my head and started to run, I pushed as hard as I could, keeping my breathing steady. I ran for a while until my breathing became rapid and my legs begged for a rest. I stopped and began to head back the way I came with my hands on my head, I heard a screech of tires turn the corner and the car headed straight for me.
I turned and began to run away put I felt the pressure hit the back of my legs causing me to go up and over it causing me to land on the rocky road. I watched it speed away with blurry eyes. I couldn’t move anything without pain shooting through my body. I closed my eyes and waited for anybody to come and find me, not knowing if anybody would. It felt like hours before I heard somebodies footsteps. There talking was muffled and I felt something against my neck. They were trying to talk to me but I only caught a few words. “Ambulance, stay, please”
