The Water's Sweet but Blood is Thicker

Abby POV

Dani, Rachel and Austin take off for the store so I go and grab one of Danielle's bikini's and one of those white things she calls a cover-up I never know why cause they don't really cover anything. I head down to the pool and sit on the chair. Looking around I see Niall and Liam in deep conversation.
"Hey Niall."
He looks up.
"Can you get my back." I say gesturing to the sunscreen.
Niall nods to Liam but he just sits their stonily. Niall gets up and sits next to me. He gently rubs the sunscreen and then hands it back to me with a smile.
"Thanks."
Niall looks between Liam and I and gets up.
"He still likes you, you know you just hurt him." Niall says quietly to me so Liam can't hear.
I smile tight-lipped at him. Niall heads inside leaving Liam and I outside by ourselves. Deciding this has to be faced I get up and sit down next to Liam on the lounge chair.
"So how long are you not going to talk to me." I say gently nudging Liam with my upper body. Liam looks at me and I can see the hurt in his eyes.
"What is there to talk about?"
"We could talk about a lot of things. We didn't used to have this problem."
"Yeah that was before..." Liam says gesturing.
"Don't bring Alex into this Liam who I like is my business. If you were my friend you would be happy for me."
Liam just looks at me blinking slowly trying to choose his next words carefully.
"Well Liz and Zayn, Niall and Danielle, Harry and Austin, Rachel and Louis wouldn't it be logical for it to be Liam and Abby."
I look at him how clueless can he be.
"Liam relationships aren't logical they're spontaneous and a mess and beautiful and wonderful and....." I say trailing off.
"Abby your living in a daydream real relationships aren't perfect. Someone always ends up getting hurt. Your going to realize that someday."
"I didn't say relationships were perfect it's more about both parties loving each other enough to want to make it through sunshine and storms."
"Well sometimes one person is so irrevocably in love and the other person just doesn't care."
"Well that's what makes tricky."
"Do you even believe in love?" Liam asks.
I sit ignoring his question.
"Fine then Abby just answer me this. Why can you be with Alex who you met yesterday and not me?"
I look at him. "Liam."
"Please Abby I need to know."
"Fine you want the complete truth I wanted Dani off of my back she is always bugging me about not being in a relationship so I figured I might give it a try and Alex is the obvious choice."
Liam looks at me. "Why Alex?"
"He is sweet and kind and caring, he cares for me as me not as what he wants me to be. He's not perfect but nobody is right."
"You don't believe in love do you." Liam says sounding sad.
"No, I do I've seen the way my parents look at each other, how Niall and Dani look at each other and Harry and Austin. Heck even Rachel and Louis even if they wont admit it. However I feel that some people are not cut out for love. Plus my idea of love is so unrealistic it could never be met."
Liam looks at me for a second before something that looks like an idea crosses his face.
"What is your perfect idea of love?"
I pause for a second trying to sum up al my daydreams into words.
"The perfect love....a love between two people who are so irreversibly obsessed with each other that they can hardly stand to be away from each other, who know each other so well its like their reading each other's mind. Honestly it would be......perfect." I say with a sigh and a smile.
"Abby do you believe in love at first sight?" Liam says debating whether to tell me something.
"Hahaha of course not how could it be possible for someone to fall in love on looks alone. They could be a psychopath for all you'd know."
Liam looks taken aback.
"Well is Alex your idea of a perfect guy."
"Far from it."
"Shouldn't you go out with a guy you think is perfect?"
"Not necessarily I rarely think that someone finds someone they think is perfect."
"I'd disagree."
"Fine prove it."
"Okay." Liam says, "And here come the perfect proof."
I look up to see Dani, Austin and Rachel walking towards us.
"Dani we need help with something. How would you describe Niall."
"Um...... sweet caring and despite of all his faults perfect. Why?"
Liam ignores her question and turns to me.
"See."
"One person doesn't prove anything."
"Fine Austin what do you think of Harry?"
"Ummm.... he's conceited, arrogant and most definitely a flirt. But he's also sweet and kind and like Dani said despite all of his faults perfect. Why?"
Liam looks at me and I gesture that he needs more proof.
"Rachel what do you think of Louis?"
She looks at us confused but still answers>
"Louis? Sweet funny and silly but immature and definitely not perfect."
"See." I say sticking my tongue out at Liam.
"Oh this debate isn't over Abigail Nicole Stevens not even close."
"Wait how'd you know my full name?"
"Danielle told me." Liam says with a smirk.
I glare at him and stick my tongue back out.
"Your face is going to freeze like that." Liam says sounding like my mother.
I roll my eyes at him.
"Okay you two enough. Oh and the sleeping arrangements are being changed around." Danielle says with a sly smile.
"Harry doesn't trust me and Niall so Niall is moving into Harry's room and Rachel is moving into ours Abs."
"Fine by me the more the merrier."
"Actually Abby you will be moving in with Liam. Harry seems to trust the two of you." Danielle says with a smile and a slight wink in my direction.
When will Danielle give it up. I like Alex not Liam. Liam and I look at each other.
"What!" We say at the same time
"No." I sputter out.
"Well we better go re-arrange our stuff." Dani says.
I follow her into our correction her room.
"Dani how can you do this to me! I can barely stand to be around Liam."
"Really so what I just saw was you barely standing to be around Liam?"
"No that was deep Liam 101 he even made me try to explain my idea of perfect love."
"You've done it before in that notebook of yours do you even still have the thing."
"Of course it's private material can't let it get into the wrong hands.”
Dani laughs and helps me pack up my stuff.
“Just so you know I hate you for this.”
Dani sticks out her bottom lip.
“You know you love me.”
I laugh and pull my suitcase. Opening the door to my new room I see clothes flying everywhere. I shut the door quietly, set my suitcase to the side and head downstairs to the pool.

Liam POV
I hear the door open and close quietly Abby must have decided against coming in.
“Where is it? Where is it?” Niall asks frantically searching through his stuff flinging things everywhere.
“Relax dude you can get another one we have enough money.”
“No Liam, you just don’t get it I want it to be perfect. I just love Danielle so much you wouldn’t understand.”
Wow that hurts. Niall looks at my face.
“Whoa Liam, have you fallen that hard dude? You’re just going to get hurt you know.”
“I know I was talking to her about love earlier dude. She was going on and on about how perfect love doesn’t exist how it might exist for everyone else but her. I think she really believes nobody can love her. She thinks that the perfect love doesn’t exist when it does Niall it does and I just want to show her so bad.”
Niall comes over and pats my arm. We hear a crash from outside.
“I’ll go check.” I say headed to the door.
I see Danielle outside the door and Abby’s suitcase on the floor open. She looks up at me.
“Hi Liam I think Abby accidently took a bracelet of mine and I was going to wear it. Oh there it is.”
Danielle says grabbing a bracelet out of the suitcase giving me the biggest fake smile.
She peeks her head in the door.
“Oh hi Niall.”
Niall straightens himself out and chuckles nervously.
“Hi Danielle.”
Danielle pulls me aside.
“So what was going on with you and Abby earlier I couldn’t get a straight answer out of her.”
“Ummmm……. We were talking about love and she was telling me about how shedoesn’t believe in love.”
Danielle bursts out laughing.
“He has it bad Dani…..I’ve never seen him this.” Niall pipes up from behind her.
Danielle keeps laughing.
“Abby……not …….believe……in…….love.” She gets out between laughing.
“See here Liam, Abby believe in love so much she’s in love with the idea of being in love. Her standards are very high though so she thinks nobody can reach them.”
“But what if I want to show her I can?”
Dani pulls me off to the side so nobody can see us.
“I really shouldn’t be doing this because even I don’t know all of what’s in here but here.”
Danielle hands me a beaten up bound notebook.
“It’s Abby’s and it has everything in it and I mean everything!”
I quickly take it from her and shove it into the waistband of my pants against my skin to hide it. I head back to the room and climb out the window onto the overhang. Openning the book I look at the first page.

Well kill me then Abby you will kills me either way whether physical or by a broken heart. I turn the page and start to read.

Abby POV
I sit by the pool when Danielle comes out. She smiles at me nervously.
“Want to go shopping?” she asks.
“Sure I should probably go change though.”
“No! I mean you look fine just slip on your cover up we are going to go buy new clothes.”
I have a feeling Danielle is just trying to get me out of the house for some reason.
“Fine.” I say getting up.
I feel my phone buzz in the pocket of the cover up as I pull it on.

From: Alex
Hey babe can we hang later?

I think later, later do we have plans. Then I get an idea.
“Hey guys do you want to meet Alex?”
“Yeah sure lets meet this mystery guy you can’t stop talking about.” Zayn calls out from the living room.
“Do you think that will be a good idea with Liam?” Danielle asks
“It’ll be fine it’s not like were dating.”
I text Alex back

From: Abby
Sure do you want to come over and meet my friends?

My phone buzzes almost instantaneously after.

From: Alex
Sure does 6ish work?

From: Abby
That’s fine see you then

From: Alex
Can’t wait xoxoxo

I look up.
“Alex will be here around 6.”
Danielle still looks nervous but seems to shake it off when we get into the car.
I wonder what’s up.
