Love Behind Bars

∞Three∞

Adela and Bethany remained silent for a few minutes. This have Adela time to take in Bethany's appearance. She had surprisingly beautiful, blonde, beach waves. Her blue eyes were complimented by her pink lips and fare skin tone. She was a beautiful, she seemed harmless. But Adela felt an uneasy edge around her at the same time. It was a strang sense Adela couldn't put her finger on. Those few minutes were awkward for Bethany. She could already tell that Adela was a timid girl. That her crime may not be her fault, if such a crime existed. She thought that being seen with Adela would bring down her status in the hell hole she was living in. But all the same, she wanted to get out. What better way to show good behavior then befriend the new girl?

"So what are you here for." Bethany asked climbing up to the top bunk.

"I don't feel comfortable disclosing that information." Adela said, hoping Bethany would just let it go.

"Oh! I'm gonna need to work to get it out of you! I always did like a challenge." Bethany slightly laughed.

Adela las figured bethany would be a laid back kind of girl. But there was still that edge.

A loud bell sounded, signaling something Adela didn't know about.

"Breakfast." Bethany said catching the questioning face coming from Adela.

Their cell automatically opened and they followed the sea of other girls into the dining room. They waited in line to grab a tan tray, and be served their food.

The food was eggs, hash brown, and apples. Although sounding delicious being made by her mother, it looked disgusting in this rotten place. Adela frowned at it, realizing how much she will miss from the outside world.

Adela followed bethany to a vacant table. They sat at the corner, across from each other. They ate in silence, which was uncomfortable for the both of them.

"So, where's your friends." Adela asked, swirling around her eggs with her fork.

"You don't have friends here," Bethany said, taking a drink of her milk. "Just people you can tolerate." She finished.

Adela was confused, but not to the max. There were probably some dangerous people in the room, people she would have to learn to stay away from.

The two girls finished their breakfast in silence. They tossed their disposable trays, the footed the crowd of girls back to their cells.

One back in her cell, Adela laid down on the bottom bunk, because clearly Bethany's was the top. She took a deep breath and tried to fall asleep. She got none of that in the last twelve hours. Her mind was clouded with thoughts of her family and especially Harry.

•••••••••

Harry barely got any sleep that night. He almost fell asleep driving home from the police station, but when in his bed he dreamed of nothing but the incident that occurred hours before.

The atmosphere was not right, his house was not the place for him to be. But he had no where else to go. So he stayed in the memory filled house, and moped about.

He thought of Adela the whole morning. Her beauty, smile, happiness. It would all be a hollow hole as long as she was stuck in that prison.

Harry knew what Adela did was wrong, but he was not mad at her. He was actually kind of grateful, but felt horrible for feeling that way.

He knew Adela didn't belong in the Homes chapel prison for girls. That was not Adela. She was not a criminal. She had the kindest heart, most open mind, and most free spirit. How could harry live without her?

•••••••••

Adela's day was dull and boring. The thoughts never leaving her head. Bethany asked her a few questions that Adela answered with one word. She was not in the mood to be a happy go-lucky girl. The atmosphere was not fit for it.

Officer murphy walked down down the hall, shuffling the keys in his hand. He came to Adela's cell and opened the gate.

"Adela." He said.

Adela stood and walked over, turning around to be handcuffed. Officer Murphy grabbed her elbow and lead her down the hall.

"Where are we going?" Adela asked.

"You have a visitor."
