Spies Of Oak Hills ~Completed~

Chapter 46

Niall’s POV

I was in my bed, making last minute thoughts go through my brain and Drake was texting Carie when the door to the dorm swung open, revealing a pissed off Louis.

“I told you I don’t trust her.” He said, while going over to his nightstand to grab his phone and his jacket from the floor. Drake and I had puzzled faces.

“Louis, what’s up man?” Drake said, walking over to him and placing his hand on his shoulder.

“Brittney! She is following Ariella out of the school!” He said, gesturing to the door.

“Are you sure that you saw them?” Drake asked.

“Yes!” he exclaimed. I reached for my phone and called Brittney.

“Yes Niall?” she said, answering on the first ring.

“Hey, uh, where are you?” I asked, getting glares from Louis. I turned around but still felt them on my back. I turned back and saw that Louis was mouthing something.

“Speakerphone.” He mouthed. I nodded my head and sat down on my bed, placing the phone next to me. They joined me on my bed quietly.

“In, my dorm, doing homework?” she said, as if it was obvious. “Do you need me? I could take a break and-“

“No, that won’t be necessary, I was just checking.” I said, cutting her off.

“Why?” she asked me. Shit, shit, shit. I looked to them and I waved my hands in the air. Drake leaned in and whispered something in my ear.

“Just wanted to make sure that you got to your dorm…” I said, trailing off at the end without realizing what I said. I glared Drake who just shrugged.

“Awe Niall, thanks for checking in! Yeah I’m here-“she started but was cut off by what sounded like her tripping over. We exchanged confused looks.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

“Yeah, I was walking around and I tripped over one of my bags that left on the floor. Stupid little me.” She said, giggling at the end. I rolled my eyes.

“Alright. Well I will let you go to finish your homework. Bye Brittney.”

“Bye Niall.” She whispered before ending the call.

“See? She isn’t following Ariella. Case closed.” Drake said, standing up and stretching a bit. Louis just shook his head.

“Still don’t buy it.” He said, crossing his arms together.

“Let’s just go to bed guys, it’s getting late and Niall needs all the energy that he needs tomorrow, right bud?” Drake said, walking over to me and patting my back. I smiled again. Louis huffed, but put back his phone on his nightstand and placed his jacket into his part of the closet. We each took turns to shower and got in bed.

“Night Louis.” I said.

“Good night Niall.” He responded back, before turning to a comfortable position.

“Night Drake.” I said.

“Night Niall.” He said back.

“Good night Drake.” Louis said sleepily.

“Night Louis.” He yawned.

Both of them fell asleep right after. Yet I am still wide awake. I turned to my side, trying to get comfier but did not change anything. I heard a helicopter fly over the school, which made it harder to sleep. I am too excited for tomorrow that I can’t even sleep now. I closed my eyes, thinking of Ariella, and her reaction when I serenade her at the tree. The song that I am going to sing and play on my guitar starts to play in my mind, the soft strumming of the guitar putting me to sleep.

(The next morning)

I felt myself shaking, and bouncing. I opened my eyes slightly, to see a blur. I rubbed the sleepiness out of my eyes to see both Louis jumping on my bed vigorously, and Drake standing next to my bed, shaking my shoulder.

“Wake up already!” I heard Louis yell.

“Get off me ya pricks, can’t a guy sleep in? It’s Saturday.” I mumbled into my pillow, pulling the blanket over my head, only to be ripped off seconds later.

“Well sure, if you would rather sleep than ask Ari to Prom, be our guests.” Drake said as he stopped shaking me, and Louis jumps off my bed.

A ping of energy jolts through me as I realized what today was. A smile then forms on my face as I threw the covers back, grabbing some clean clothes from my closet, admiring the outfit that I am wearing tonight that hung on the door, and walked into the bathroom. I could tell that Drake and Louis were shaking their heads with amusement, before walking out of the dorm, but I couldn’t care any less.

After my routine in the bathroom, I grabbed the letter that Brittney wrote for me and walked to Ari’s dorm. I placed the letter on the floor quietly and knocked on the door I quickly headed towards the stairs to the cafeteria to grab some breakfast. I need a lot of energy today, which means a lot of food. I grin to myself as I grab a stack of pancakes, a few waffles, bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, hash browns, and a bowl of fruit, along with some orange juice. Got to eat healthy too you know, don’t want to be a greasy pig or get even more tired before I even get there. I pay for my breakfast and sat down next to Drake, who eyed my plate. I hovered my arms over the food, giving him the same look.

“Mine.” I said to him. Drake began to laugh and held his hands up in surrender. I began to dig into my breakfast, eating everything.

“Niall please, you’re going to choke on your food!” Nicki said in worry, placing her tray on the table, sitting across from me. I shook my head, knowing how she would react with my mouth full. I swallowed what was in my mouth before speaking.

“I’m good. Don’t worry about that. Good morning by the way.” I said before eating what was left on my plate.

“Morning Niall.” She said chuckling. Once I finished eating, I sighed and patted my stomach.

“Make sure you leave room for lunch and dinner dude.” Drake joked. I didn’t even notice Carie was sitting next to him, nudging his stomach. He mouth made a fake pouty face, only to be kissed by Carie’s lips. I immediately thought of Ariella, as she would do the same to me... Ariella. Wait.

“Hey, where’s Ari?” I asked. “Also, morning Carie, I didn’t see you there.” I added. She nodded, as she was eating her breakfast. Both girls looked at each other, then shrugged, looking back at me. I felt Louis’ stare.

“When we came to the dorm last night I found a note saying that she would be right back. I texted her and she just said that it shouldn’t take long. When we woke up this morning we got a text from her saying that she needed to be alone for the day… Don’t know why. You probably want this back.” Carie said, while handing me the letter I left for Ariella with one hand, intertwining her free hand with Drake’s. Louis’ gaze became stronger.

“May I see the text from this morning?” Louis suddenly asked them. Nicki reached into her pocket of her jacket and pulled out her phone. She opened the text and handed it to Louis. He took it and read it out loud to the table, clearing his throat first.

“’You probably noticed that I am not in the dorm. Do not be alarmed. I went for a head start today, as I need to be on my own for a bit… See you later.’” He finished. He handed her the phone back and she stuffed it into her pocket. Then she is probably at the tree. I guess I could do it now.

“I’m going to go see her.” I said, standing up and throwing out the trash.

“Can I come too?” Louis asked.

“No. I’m going to ask her now, since she is already there. I cannot take the anticipation of waiting, when she is already there.” I said, smiling. Other than Drake and Louis, everyone at the table looked confused.

“Do what?” Josh asked.

“I’m going to ask Ari to Prom.” I said proudly. The girls squealed with joy and the guys wish me luck, which I would probably need, since Ari is probably there for a reason. She could be very upset about something right now and I am going to help her.

I said goodbye to the gang and headed up to my dorm, took a very quick shower, brushed my teeth, and got dressed in my outfit. I looked at myself in the mirror and felt good about this. I grabbed my guitar and headed out.

Once I reached the area, I didn’t see anyone there. There weren’t anyone on the blanket that I left there, there was no movement except the leaves rustling from the weak wind. I didn’t hear her voice, or saw her figure anywhere. I saw what seemed like clothing on the floor next to the tree, however.

I walked over to the tree and took off my guitar, leaning it onto the tree. I picked up the cloth, and I immediately recognized it as Ariella’s. Her perfume was still fresh but it was very cold. Where is she? Is she not here? Did she go somewhere else? Did she return back to the school already? It’s still early, but she probably did.

I sent a text to Louis, even though I felt nervous to do so, but I continued anyways.

To: Louis:
Mate, did Ariella come back to the school already?

From: Louis:
No, she didn’t.......

My heart dropped. Where could she have gone? My phone vibrated again, this time, a call from Louis.

Louis: “Mate, she isn’t there is she?!” he yelled, before I even got a chance to say hello.

Niall: “No she’s not. She probably walked back into the building.”

Louis: “Is there any sign that she was there?”

Niall: “Yeah, her jacket is still here.”

I noticed that it felt slightly heavy, and saw something in the pockets. I placed the phone between my shoulder and ear, reached into the jacket’s pockets and picked out an envelope that had her name written across the front that looked like the one that Brittney gave me. I looked down at the ground for anything else and I saw her cellphone on the ground.

That was dead.

Niall: “Her phone is here, and there’s an envelope with her name on it.”

Louis: “Oh, like the one that BRITTNEY gave you to give to her?!”

Niall “Louis, we don’t-“

Louis: “Open the letter.”

Niall: “Louis-“

Louis: “Niall, you left the letter back in the dorm. It is in my hands. I opened it. What does that one say?”

Niall: “One second.”

I became worried, and began to examine the envelope. Her name was written very neatly across it, which did look like the one Brittney gave me. It was in the same envelope and everything. I hesitantly opened the envelope to see a letter that looked like my handwriting. I sat down, leaning my back against the tree and read what the letter said to Louis.

Niall: “I know that you do not wish to talk to me, but please hear me out. I am sorry with how I reacted this morning. I hope that you do trust me, and I will not pressure into telling me what your dreams are. You can tell me when you are ready. I am here for you. I will protect you, from anything that scares you. I won’t ever let anything hurt you. With your trust, I hope that you will trust me when I ask you to please come down to our tree. We need to talk face to face. Please give me a chance to show you how sorry I am. Dress causal but warm. It is getting cold outside, and I don’t want you to get sick. I love you Princess. Always have. Always will. Niall xx” It read at the bottom.

Louis: “Mate it is the same as the one here, except that it didn’t say tomorrow! I TOLD YOU I DON’T TRUST HER AND NOW I HAVE A REASON WHY! ”

Niall: “I know, I’m sorry Louis….” I placed the letter back into the envelope, thinking.

Louis: “You should have let me gone out!”

Niall: “I know, I know! I’m sorry, okay? You were right Louis. Listen, is Brittney at breakfast?”

Louis: “I don’t know. I’m back at the dorm remember? I one second, I’ll text Drake.” He pulled away from the phone and began to tap away on his phone. We waited for a moment until Drake responded. “She hasn’t she even come in the room, Niall. She isn’t there!!!!!”

Niall: “She set me up.”

Louis: “Mate, you do remember who she is, right?” I thought for a moment, remembering what was told to me about her, being a double agent to-

Niall: “No, she didn’t get kidnapped again.” I couldn’t think of it this way. There is no way that it happened.

Louis: “Niall, you and I both know that is what we can conclude to. There isn’t any other explanation. Look, I’ll be there in a second, I’m already on my way so don’t tell me to not come. I’m at the border of the school already.” I sighed.

Niall: “Alright, see you in a bit.”

Louis: “See you.”

I hung up and made my head hit the tree in agony. She can’t be gone… Not now. Not yet. I continued to hit my head against the tree slightly, not enough to hurt, until Louis arrived. He saw me and began to run over to me, then slowed down as he took in my appearance.

“You look nice.” He said to me. I glared at him, mentally telling him that this is not the time for compliments, when my girlfriend is somewhere. He held his hands up in surrender and began to look around. When he looked behind the tree, he immediately ran back over to where I am still sitting.

“Niall, I think you might want to see this.” He said while pointing to the area behind the tree. I didn’t go back there yet. There is a larger open field behind the tree, where Ariella and I would play tag sometimes. Thinking of the memories brought a frown to my face, remembering that she isn’t here.

I got up anyways and followed Louis to the back of the tree, seeing a large circle made in the grass. I walked up to the center, looking out to see the diameter of the circle from where I stood. It was very large, too large to be created by the weak winds that blow by. There seemed to be different dents inside the circle. Suddenly, all of the pieces were being put together in my mind. The letters, the discarded jacket, the phone, the circle. I went over to tree and began to climb. Once I got to the top of the tree, I was panting, but pushed that aside. It was the least of my problems right now. I looked out to the circle, and saw words written into the center of the circle.

BLACK COVE

I climbed down the tree in anger, remembering the helicopter that I heard last night, which kept me up. I walked over to Louis.

“It says frickin’ ‘Black Cove’ in the center.” I said, beyond pissed. “Why do they want her so bad?!” I yelled out.

“Certain reasons, mate.” Louis said.

“Like what?” I asked him, running my fingers through my hair several times.

“They just don’t like her family that’s all.” He said, looking down. A thought came to my head.

“Louis, why did you join them?” I asked him. He sighed.

“Do you really want to know?” he asked me. I always pondered at the reason why Louis would join an organization that does such horrible things. Louis is too good to be in something like them. I nodded my head.

“Alright, I’ll tell you. Let’s sit though, this is going to be a while.” He led the way back to the tree. We both sat down, and I watched Louis as he thought of a way to begin his story. “Alright mate, this is the story of Louis’ life..."
