Spies Of Oak Hills ~Completed~

Chapter 32

*Niall’s POV*

I closed the door to the dorm after saying goodbye to everyone and reassuring Carie that she did nothing wrong. Ariella is and has always been a curious one. Whenever she is told something that is so simple and very vague, she will stay up all night to find out more about it. That’s just how she is.

I walked out of the school and into the courtyard by the back door. I looked up and saw that the red color in the sky was slowly bleeding out. As were the clouds as well, and the stars were slowly shining through. The moon was rising and the sun was setting. It was actually a great view of the sky. I zipped up my jacket but only to half way. I continued my walk until I was at the border wall that separated the school from the outside world. I tucked the blanket that I was carrying into my jacket before zipping it up all the way, and re-adjusting so the blanket wouldn’t fall out. I climbed the wall. Doing this made me remember the time when I first brought Ariella here. She was so innocent then that it was so cute.

*Flashback*

“Niall, I’m not so sure about this...” She told me as we continued our walk out of the school doors at the back, with our fingers intertwined. It was our fifth month being together and I wanted it to be special, so I decided to bring her to one of my favorite places. Outside of the school of course. I had my guitar on my back and a blanket in my free hand.

“And why’s that?” I asked her. She just shrugged.

“It doesn’t feel right…” she mumbled.

“What doesn’t? Being here with me?” I asked her sadly, stopping us on the football field where there was no one.

“Nonononono, I’m happy to be here with you, it’s just that I don’t feel comfortable leaving the school, so secretly...” Phew. She is so innocent.

“Ariella?”

“Yes?”

“You’re a spy in training, you’re supposed to do this. Duh.” I said to her. She rolled her eyes.

“Alright then hot-shot, where are we going?” she said to me as she shoved me to start walking again.

“You will have to wait and see.”

We walked to where the border wall was that separated the school from the outside world.

“Niall…” she said nervously.

“Ariella…” I replied, mocking her.

“Seriously Niall, what if we get caught?”

“Well, that’s what we want to avoid. We are spies in training Ariella, they can’t put up a barrier around the school and not expect us to climb over it. Besides, the guys and I would do this all the time. I know what to do.” I said proudly.

“Is this where you guys always leave us for?” she said with a ‘surprised’ face.

“Yes, but not intentionally. You know that.” I said while placing a kiss on her forehead. She giggled. “So do you trust me? Or are you going to be a wuss about this and turn back?” I asked her, while taking off my guitar and handing it to her, and tucking the blanket into my jacket and zipping it up all the way. Ariella rolled her eyes playfully at my word choice before staring at the guitar for a moment before putting it on her back and nodding her head.

“Good. Now hop on.” I said as I turned around for her to jump onto my back. But she didn’t.

“Ariella come on!” She refused to. “Ariella what’s wrong?”

“I’ll climb, don’t worry…” She said as she faced the wall.

“If you think you’re too heavy for me to carry then you’re wrong.” I said as I quickly placed her on my back and started to climb before she could protest.

“Niall! Put me down! I’ll climb myself don’t worry!” She said while squeezing my neck tighter.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea to put you down right now sweet cheeks.” I said as I grabbed the ledge and pulled us up to the top. I heard her gasp as she took the scenery of the meadow in front of us.

“Like it?” I asked her. I began to climb down.

“’Like it?’ I love it! It’s so beautiful Niall…” she whispered.

“It pales in comparison to you…” I replied back in all seriousness.

“Niall, stop being so cheesy.” She said while slapping my shoulder playfully.

“I will be cheesy as I want, but I mean it, Princess.” I said.

“So now I’m a Princess? I thought I was a wuss?” She said, but just by the tone of her voice, she was smirking.

“You were a wuss until the day you agreed to even go out with me.You have no idea how long it took you for you to say yes. But you will always be my Princess. Always.” I spoke with sincerity. She awed and laughed at the same time at my small speech. “Hey, it’s true.” At this point we (well I was) walking towards our destination through a small forest.

“Alright, I believe you. Thank you.” She kissed the top of my head. I hummed in appreciation.

When we reached where I wanted us to, I set her down. She walked ahead a bit to take in her surroundings. We were in an opening that had a large Oak tree in the center. There were many flowers that surrounded the tree which made it perfect to look at.

“Wow...” she said under her breath. I grabbed her hand.

“Come on. Let’s do some more climbing.”

“As long as I can climb this time.” She said sternly.

“Fine…” I said. We reached the tree and I climbed first. I know I should let her climb first, but… She’s in a skirt… Yeah. When I got to the top I set the blanket down on the branch before keeping an eye on Ariella as she slowly made her way up the tree.

“Still enjoy climbing?” I asked her as she was halfway up, while tripping on some spots that almost made me want to jump down for her and grab her. And also she was carrying my guitar… Which made me more nervous.

“Shut up.” She scolded me. She was almost up to where I was until she misplaced her foot and slipped.

“Niall!!!!” she yelled. I quickly grabbed her arm before she could fall, and pulled her up. I took off the guitar and pretended to treat it like a baby.

“Yeah, I’m fine, nearly fell off a tree and was this close to getting hurt, but I’m fine, thanks for asking.” She said sarcastically. I laughed and pulled her in for a hug.

“You know you mean more to me than my guitar.”

“So I can just drop it from here and you won’t jump after it?” she asked me. I immediately gave her a look.

“Like hell I would let you do that, hell nah! Not gonna let you drop ma precious guitar and let it break.” I said as seriously as I could without cracking a smirk... Whenever I get mad, my Irish accent gets stronger. But now I’m just messing with her since it is always funny to do so.

“Sorry…” She mumbled. I then bursted laughing. She then caught on, smacking me in the arm and moving away from me. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and looked away from me as I could not stop laughing.

“Okay, okay, I’m, sorry.” I said between laughs. She looks at me and couldn’t help but laugh along as well. She then scoots back to me, in her place underneath my arm. I held her tight.

“I forgive you.” She said.

“Thank you.”

“So how did you find this place again?” she asked me. I shrugged.

“Well, the lads’ and I’s hangout spot is just over there.” I said while pointing across the meadow to a campsite in the forest. “And I was just wandering around for a bit before I found this place. When I saw it I immediately thought of you.” I said, looking down to her. She blushed and looked away. I used my free hand to grab her chin between my index finger and my thumb so she would face me.

“Don’t hide your face Princess, its beautiful.” She just blushed more, so I chuckled. “Hey, I have something to show ya.” I said, almost forgetting it. I removed myself from leaning against the tree to show her a sign that read in black ink:

Nariella’s Tree

“Nariella?” she asked.

“Yeah, Niall and Ariella.” I said.

“Did you make this?”

“Maybeeee…” I said while pursing my lips. She laughed. God that laugh..

“Well I love it. Thank you Niall.” She said before kissing me gently. “Sing me a song Niall...” She asked me. The sky was now diming and was turning bright red. I obeyed her request and took off my jacket, since I could tell she was cold before grabbing my guitar. We switched spots so she sat against the tree as I began to sing to her. That night was just perfect.

*End Of Flashback*

And as I got to the tree, there sitting against it high up on the same branch with a sad face was none other than my Ariella.
