Blindsided
Chapter 1
(Paris)
"Paris! Get up!" I heard Sara yell. I had been up already, for two hours at least. I was worried about going to my new school.
Would they make fun of me like everyone else does? Or maybe I might make friends? I never had friends.
Nobody ever wanted to hang out with me because I was 'handicapped'. I sighed and felt on my bed for my white cane.
I grabbed it and felt to the floor, I hopped out of my bed and felt my way around to my closet. I let my fingers drift upward so I could find the braille markings above them.
'Red, Blue, Green.' I went through all my clothes until I found what I was looking for. "Black!" I said pulling a pair of skinny jeans out of the cubby above my closet.
I then walked over to the white color clothes and pulled down a t shirt. I bent down and got a pair of converse from the bottom of my closet and went back to my bed. I placed my clothes there and felt around for the bathroom.
I sighed and hopped in the shower. My eyes wondered around for a familiar square like shape. Aha! My washcloth. I pick it up and use some shower gel to clean my body. When I'm done I wrap a towel around me and slowly walk out.
Click, Click. I sigh as my cane hits random objects around the house, warning me to avoid them. "Hey Paris. I made you breakfast." I heard Sara say cheerily.
I smiled at her. "Thank you." I said softly, sitting down at the table. I munched on my food and got up and followed Sara so she could do my makeup.
I'd like to do it myself but... yeah. Blind. When she was finished I slipped a bracelet on my wrist, covered my eyes with some sunglasses, grabbed my jacket and walked to her car.
*Skip Awkward Blind Car Ride*
I sighed as Sara let me out the car before taking me to the main office. I folded my cane and put it in my book bag. Let me just explain something.
I've never been totally blind, just legally blind. Like, I can see vague shapes so I know what to look out for. But compared to everyone else.... I'm blind as fuck.
But I don't want sympathy, as a matter of fact I resent it. I'm not handicapped, just legally blind. "Hello, are you the new student?" I heard a soft voice ask me. Through my dark glasses I made a a body-ish looking shape and turned to it.
I nodded my head curtly. "Welcome." She said softly. I smiled and let out a soft 'Thank you' for a reply. "Will you be okay?" Sara asked me. "Just fine." I said looking down.
"Okay." She said, I heard her shoes softly sound out and the loud roar of an engine as she drove away. Great... now I was alone, in a place I had never been.
And to top it all off I'm probably going to get sympathy by the god damn ton. Fucking fabulous.
Please update? I have read many stories on this site...trust me...but this one is very unique. I have never read a story like this. Pure brilliant writing. Keep it up! xoxo -Char
