Dreaming about London

Partying my way

Of course the few notes that I had to play on my own flew by in the matter of a second, it really wasn’t something for me to worry about at all but seeing all those people staring at you makes you nervous like hell.

The first tune we played was written by Ian who also played the violin on this. It was one of the more simple ones in our set list even though I had struggled to learn that as well. These guys were some really talented musicians, most of them educated and a lot more trained than me and I was utterly honored to be able to play concerts with them.

Over the past couple of weeks we had been rehearsing a lot to get ready, or at least I had, since the rest already knew the list of tunes to play but I had gotten multiple compliments for my violin playing, even from Ian who had a sick kind of education and been playing for twice as many years as me, but still sometimes I couldn’t help but feel a bit like the outsider in the band, mainly just because I didn’t think I was nearly as good as them.

“We’re not as good as you think,” Adam had laughed at me when I had at some point revealed my thoughts to them. “We just make each other sound good.”

“It’s actually true,” Ian had said. “It’s like football. A player may be extremely talented but if he doesn’t play on the right team it won’t show. It’s about finding the right team.”

“I honestly think you sound great with us,” Sophie had agreed.

All of their compliments had caused the heaviest blushing to my cheeks and as I stood there on the stage playing one great tune after another with these nice people I felt completely comfortable, knowing that I was in my right element and that no matter how bad I would do it would still sound fantastic along with all these good musicians.

The brand of the folk band became more and more visible throughout the concert; some complicated but yet extremely groovy tunes varying from a fast pace with tight hooks that made the audience clap along looking quite impressed to slow, melodic and beautiful tunes that completely captured the attention from every eye in the room as well.

As Nick presented the wedding waltz that he’d written to Sophie last year to their own wedding I noticed Eleanor, Louis, Zayn and Perrie smiling kindly at him and as the tune fated out towards the end Eleanor was full on crying holding her hands up against her chest and I send the warmest smile to her as she nodded approving back at me letting me know how much that had touched her, I felt so honored to be the one playing the melody on the violin while Ian was playing the piano.

During the entire concert I had been seeking comfort in the eyes of all of my friends sitting right at the front admiring the beauty of something so foreign to them as this maybe was, I don’t think I at one point had taken of the slight smile on my lips especially not when my gaze met my dear Niall’s among the many others. Man, was I lucky to know him.

We ended the concert with having to multiple extra songs as the audience kept applauding us loudly after each one, it wasn’t until we forced us away from them and walking down behind the stage even though they were still shouting and clapping until the host of the whole arrangement calmed everyone down to tell that there would be a ball afterwards where some of the band would play as well. I wasn’t though since I had in mind to get the rest of my friends out and dance some folk dance with me, though they might find it a bit silly.

“Well done guys!” Adam exclaimed as we all came down behind the stage.

“That was amazing,” I gushed. “Absolutely amazing.”

“Yeah, come here,” Eric said and made us all come closer for a group hug where I was shoved in the middle of it all those tall chests and sweat among them.

“You did great, kid,” Nick said rubbing my head. He had kind of gotten a habit of calling me “kid” for some reason and messing up my hair every chance he would get, I don’t really know why though but it always made me smile.

The host came back to us with some beers from the bar.

“Thanks guys!” he said before handing the beers around and we made a toast before Christian, the saxophonist, would follow him in another room to get something with the payment done, the others had told me that he kind of was the one to take care of all that including booking us jobs.
I took a big sip of my beer enjoying the cooling feeling streaming down my throat making my heated head and body relax a bit more. From behind Sophie’s face, since I was talking to her at that moment, I saw another head of blonde hair peep through from behind the black curtain. Niall.

Without hearing a single word of what Sophie was saying I smiled widely at him feeling so happy to see his gorgeous face coming towards me.

None of us said anything as I met him on his way to me, it wasn’t until he had his arms wrapped around my shoulders he breather in to my hair:

“You really enjoyed that. Amazing to watch.”

I smiled in to his chest before looking up at him.

“So glad you’re here,” I said before our lips met in the softest and most loving way I had felt so far.

I did feel the glares from the others in my back so I pulled a lot quicker than I would really like to, fighting the longing feeling for him racing through my entire body. They quickly disappeared though to go back on stage and play to the folk dance finally leaving us alone behind that black curtain.

“Great…” Niall mumbled and put his mouth back against mine with a smile that didn’t stop for the first few seconds of making out.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him in closer than he already was completely closing the gap between our bodies and his deeper breathing hit my face as he pulled away looking in to my eyes.

“God, I want you,” he mumbled seductively making me bite my lower lip blushing a bit from his words but also feeling a bit disappointed knowing that we couldn’t do what we wanted at this point.

“Want to dance?” I just asked him instead with an innocent smile.

“Sure,” he chuckled. “If you can teach me how.”

I started pulling him back towards the big room on the other side of the curtain but he suddenly stopped.

“Oh wait, just give me a minute,” he said while correcting the fabric in the crotch of his denim jeans. My eyes followed his hand and there it was; a very visible bulge between his legs that made me stare for several seconds longing for it but I snapped myself back to reality knowing that that would have to wait, I might as well not make it worse for me than it already was.
I couldn’t help but chuckle and liking Niall a bit more when he stood there concentrating on calming himself down. He looked so incredibly hot in those jeans, along with a green flannel shirt, a white t-shirt underneath it and some multi colored worn out Vans.

“Please stop doing that,” he suddenly said looking down obviously still struggling with his erection.

“What?” I asked worried.

“Biting your lip,” he mumbled still looking away from me and wasn’t until then I noticed that my teeth had been holding on to my lower lip for quite some time.

“I’m sorry…” I smiled still blushing heavily from his words.

“Folk music is awesome!” Louis yelled loudly once he saw me walking towards their table that had now been moved closer to the wall making space for dancing in the middle of the room. We all laughed at his silly behavior that was just so him before I walked around hugging him and the rest of the people.

“Thank you all for coming,” I smiled blushing from their compliments. They all seemed genuinely impressed with the concert and all kept gushing about the tunes, the band and some of their sick skills that had been revealed throughout the past one and a half hours.

“That guitar player…” Niall began.

“Nick,” I nodded.

“He’s sick man,” he smiled.

“Totally,” I agreed smiling back at him. “So do you want to dance?”

“Well,” he said suddenly sounding a bit nervous. “I guess I can try.”

“Great, let’s go!” I said and stood up immediately.

I was relieved that the band was playing a polka which is quite an easy dance to start off with.
“It doesn’t look so hard,” Niall said relieved as he looked around at the other couples on the dance floor. There were really a lot of people here so we didn’t have much space to learn the steps, but luckily he was very quick at learning them, it didn’t take him more than a few minutes before we were dancing around the other couples around the room that had already started to heat up from all the sweat that had started to form in there.

Niall was so cute to watch as he stumbled around stepping on my feet every once in a while, but none the less he had a tight grip around my waist and was actually the one leading us around, which is kind of rare for a person that has just learned to dance polka.

The next dance was waltz, which has some different steps than a polka and it’s a bit harder to learn to dance properly but once again he seemed so determined that he managed to do it quite well in the end of the dance.

“You’re doing so good!” I smiled at him as we swirled around among all the people.

“Hell yeah,” he laughed back but with a very concentrated frown on his forehead that just made him look even cuter if that was even possible.

I couldn't help but laugh when I see Eleanor and Louis trying to do a polka a few tunes later, Louis glanced over at me from across the floor with an expression telling that he had no clue of what he was doing.

Then it was time for a dance where everybody danced in a big circle, where you switch partners and I immediately turned towards our table to bring the rest of the people out here. At first they all looked quite surprised and a bit sceptic, but Liam and Em bravely stood up as the first ones and walked towards the floor. Zayn and Perrie were the last ones joining us, Zayn mumbling to me on the way that he really doubted that it would work with him dancing.

“Oh relax, it’s so easy,” I assured him showing them how to stand in the circle.

Luckily the host of the place was instructing some of the dances shortly before the music began and since the rest of the people, including me, already knew how to do it, it became a lot easier for everybody to do it.

As we started doing the moves that we'd been we constantly switch partners and I ended up being swirled around by total strangers, but that’s the fun part. To get involved with everybody no matter who it is and what you might think about them in the first place.

I couldn't help but notice the smiles and laughs on everybody’s faces, including my friends who were completely newbies at this whole folk dance thing. The next move made me switch to a new partner, this time it was Harry who tried to compose his big leather boots but I had to admit, he sure was a bit clumsy at this but it only made it even funnier and luckily he had joined my hard laughing before I would start to think that he might feel a bit too embarrassed.

We all did a few more of those kinds of dances before it was time for a break.

“Okay, I’m sweating like a pig, who wants to have a cigarette with me outside?” I asked probably sounding – and looking - incredibly charmless and unappealing, but both Niall, Harry, Zayn and Aida joined me.

“God, it’s hot in there!” Aida sighed once we got outside, while Harry messed up his hair and pulled it back away from his face on its correct and perfect spot on his head even though it was a bit sweaty right now.

We lid up a cigarette each and I couldn't help but feel happy and incredibly proud that they seemed to absolutely love this kind of party oppose to kind they were used to.

“For how long have you been doing this kind of dance?” Zayn asked me before taking a heavy from his cigarette.

“Uhm. Since I was about four. But when you play folk music you kind of can’t help but get involved in the dance as well,” I answered him. “So Aida and Em are the ones who know how to shake their asses like pros and I know how to do the polka.”

“Classy,” Niall mocked me.

Inside we all sat down for a moment to drink beers and laugh with each other and it felt good to have the entire group gathered on the same spot at the same time after the boys had been away for this long.

“Want to dance?” I heard a voice ask very close to my left ear and I turned around on my chair to see Eric smiling down at me. “No one seems to know how to do a polska, but you’re Scandinavian so I thought that you might.”

“Uhm. Yeah, sure,” I smile as I stood up to follow him back towards the middle of the room. On my way I feel the burning glares from all of my friends on my back.

And true enough, the rest of the guys were playing a polska: A dance that mostly belongs in Sweden and Scandinavia and so there weren’t any people left on the floor besides Eric and I.

“Do you know how to do it?” I asked him on our way.

“Yeah, my mum is Swedish,” he answered which took me surprise but I didn’t get to ask any other questions before he took my hand to start leading the way around.

Polska is a more difficult kind of dance that I personally had spent many years learning and it did really take a good partner to make it work properly, because you do the same steps but just at different times, but to my surprise Eric turned out to be extremely good at it, I didn’t even have to pay any attention to where the hell we were going as he wrapped one arm around my waist and the other one on the top of my back the way you are supposed to do it.

This way it becomes quite intimate, since you have to stay as close as possible in order to make it work. During the dance I couldn't help but think that Niall and the others might find it a bit inappropriate – I remember I did at first – but it was not that bad.

Or at least that was what I thought until Eric and I had finished and I walked back to the table to see that Niall was missing. I looked confused around the rest of the group. Harry was gone as well. But what their face expressions said was clear: Concern.
