Louis POV

After breakfast, Liam and I excused ourselves from Isla and went into the coronation room to discuss the plan for Isla to see her family. After an hour of discussion, we finally agreed on how we would tell Isla our plan. I called a servant to fetch Fizzy and her meet us in my chamber suite.We call for late morning tea to distract Isla while we await Fizzy. Finally, there is a knock at the door, which I go to answer.

“Fizzy, thanks for coming on such short notice.” I hug her as she enters the room.

“How is my big brother, the future king?” she asks with a chuckle and pokes me in the ribs.

“I’m fine.” I give her another squeeze and then release her.

“Hi Liam.”

“Hey Fizz.”

“Isla! How are my future nieces or nephews doing?” She runs to Isla and hugs her. It makes me happy that Fizzy loves Isla and they get along.

“Fine. They won’t stop growing and I think I might explode.”

“It’s so exciting that we’re going to have babies!” Fizzy claps her hands and bounces like a kid instead of a hundred plus year old Dracula.

“Okay, they’re our babies Fizz.” She pouts.

“So, what’s going on?” She’s a direct girl.

“Have a seat and let me pour you some tea. Liam and I wanted to talk to you and Isla about something.”

Fizzy takes a seat at the table. Isla and I pour tea for everyone. Once everyone is comfortable, I decide it’s time to break out the plan.

“Isla and I were talking the other day and she mentioned that she’s really missing her family.
So, after talking it over with Liam, we’ve come up with a way for her to safely visit her parents and sister.”

“Really Louis?” Isla’s face lights up with excitement and it makes me happy that we put that smile on her face. Liam and I both nod confirming we are going to do this.

“Yes love, but we have to be smart about this so that everyone will stay safe, both you and them.”

“Ice, we’re not worried that you won’t be safe, but we don’t want to take any chances that your family might meet with some harm,” Liam explains and Isla nods indicating she understands.

“So, how will we do this?” She asks.

“Well, that’s where Fizzy comes into this plan.”

“Me? What do you need me to do?” Fizzy inquires.

“Keep Isla’s family safe.”

“So, you want me to come along with all of you?”

“I want you to go along with Isla.”

“Wait. Louis, you aren’t going to go with me?” A sad expression crosses her face.

“Love, it wouldn’t be safe if I came and I need to tend to coronation business.” If I can get away without having to scare her with the whole truth, I will spare her.

“But Louis, you are going to be my husband. Don’t you think after all this time, showing up pregnant without my fiancé isn’t going to look good? I really want them to meet you. I’m sure it will put them at ease to get to know you. Plus, I’m scared and I need you with me.”

“I’d love to meet your parents and sister, but it’s too dangerous.”

“I don’t understand Louis. We worked as models alongside humans every day and we never had a problem.” Okay, I hate to tell her this. I really didn’t want to freak her out like this.

“The reason I shouldn’t go and fizzy should go in my place is because she has been trained to help other Draculas function in the human world without harming them.”

“Again Louis, I never felt the urge to harm anyone. Why is this a problem now? Is this an excuse not to meet my family?” Oh no. She looks so hurt. I walk over to her, kneel by her chair, and wraps my arms around her.

“No love. I was hoping to spare you this, but your family’s blood is so close to your own human blood that the temptation might be too much for either one of us to control. You will crave it because your body will want the familiar smell and taste of your blood. I will crave their blood because it most smells like yours and, since you are my mate, I might not be able to control myself.”

“But Louis, you controlled yourself with me until that day in the woods.”

“Yes, and if it wouldn’t have been for Liam, I’d have killed you purely on accident.” I shudder at that memory.

“But if Fizzy is there, can she stop us?”

“Ice baby, would you really want to take the risk of finding out the answer to that the hard way?” Liam asks as he comes over to her other side and rubs her shoulders.

“No! I wouldn’t want to do anything to risk their lives. I just miss them so much and I want them to know I am okay, happy, getting married, and having babies.” How can I deny her this little bit of happiness when she asks nothing of me ever?

“Fizzy, what do you think? How severe is the danger if I were to join you and Isla?”

“Louis, you have about the greatest self-control I’ve ever witnessed. I can’t imagine you’d allow yourself to harm Isla’s family when there is so much at risk to lose. I’ll be happy to go with you and Isla.”

“Liam, I know we talked about this at length, but what do you think now about my going?”

“Well Louis, I’m not going to lie and say I’m not nervous about this. The question is, which is the bigger risk? If you go and have Fizzy there with her unique powers, the risk to harming Isla’s family is much less. If you don’t go and something goes wrong, or the stress of the visit becomes too much for Isla to handle without you there, the babies could be harmed.”

“Nice Liam. Now, give me your vote. Do I stay or do I go?”

“I’m changing my opinion and I think you should go.”

“Okay. I promised I would do whatever it takes for you to see your family love and if that means I need to go with you, that’s what I’ll do.” Her beautiful face lights up and she grabs my face with her hands and kisses me.

“Thank you Lou. I am so happy you are coming with me. They are going to love you! I mean who wouldn’t love having a son-in-law who is a handsome, famous model and talks with a cute accent. Oh it’s going to be so wonderful. I’m so excited!” Fizzy starts laughing uncontrollably and I know what she finds so funny; Liam’s face is scrunched up trying to process this sudden change in Isla’s usually reserved behavior.

“Isla, you’ve turned into a total fan girl!” Fizzy giggles.

“Oh I guess I have!” She giggles along with Fizzy. “I never even did that as a human!”

“Please don’t start now!” Liam pleads.

“Oh I don’t know. I think I kind of like her ‘fan girling’ over me,” I chuckle and give Isla a peck on the lips.

“Louis, you are so cheeky,” Liam scolds.

“So, when can we leave Louis?” Isla definitely is excited. I’m happy I am doing this for her. It’s so worth seeing that spark in her eyes.

“Well, the coronation is coming up soon. So, I think we should leave tomorrow morning. That gives us the rest of today to plan.”

“How long can we stay?”

“Isla, I don’t think we should stay more than one night. Perhaps we should stay in a hotel to not tempt fate.”

“I miss my old house and my bedroom. That’s where we met after all.”

“True Ice,” Liam chimes in and I nod in agreement.

“Okay, let’s get to planning this trip. There are lots of details we need to tend to so we don’t slip up during the visit,” Fizzy just loves to be in charge.

The four of us spend the next three hours going over every detail of the trip, coming up with different scenarios and contingencies to keep everyone safe. I hope I’ve made a wise decision in going with Isla and Fizzy. There is just no way I could break my promise to Isla.
