Stole My Heart

Niall led me out into the skating area with his hand protectively in mine.

"So," he said, "you probably know a lot about me, so how about you?"

"Well..." I said, trying to think of what to tell him. "I have five sibling, my older sister is in college, my brother is sixteen, my younger sister is fourteen, I have another brother who is eight, and the youngest is five. I'm eighteen. My favorite color is green. I like to read in my free time, especially Tolkien. My favorite book is the Lord of the Rings same with my favorite movie. Favorite animal is a penguin. Favorite band is One Direction, although I am a huge fan of country music. I am shy but once I get to know someone I can talk their ear off."

"Wow!" he said trying to take it all in. "Just one more question." he said with a cheeky grin on his face. "Do you have a boyfriend?"

"And why would that be of any concern to you?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"Oh, you know, just curious." he responded like he really didn't care but I could definitely hear a spark of interest in his voice.

"In that case, no, I do not have a boyfriend."

"Good." he said.

"And why is that a good thing Mr. Horan?'

"Boys are awful people and I don't think that you should go out with one. Not until you find the right one anyway." he said smiling.

"That won't be a problem." I replied confidently.

"What do you mean?" he asked innocently.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure but I don't see what this has to do with anything."

"Are you blind?" I asked, genuinely serious.

"Um, no. Why do you ask?"

"Have you seen me? I've never had a boyfriend in my life and I'm certainly not about to. Take one look at me and you'll know why." I replied.

"You're beautiful and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise." he said, completely serious.

I smiled and we were quiet for a couple of moments, enjoying each other's company. I almost fell but he had his hand in mine and helped to steady me."

"Thanks." I said turning to him.

"Any time." he responded.

He smiled and turned to me asking, " You and your friends wouldn't happen to have tickets for the concert tomorrow night would you?"

"No, I'm afraid we don't." I said sighing.

"Good because to say I'm sorry for running into you I'll give you and your friends tickets to the show."

"Oh Niall, I don't -"

"Please. It would make me and the other guys really happy." he said, his eyes pleading.

"All right, we would be more than happy to." I said.
