Stole My Heart

Laurel’s P.O.V.

I opened my eyes and yawned, trying to determine where I was. Then I remembered that I was on the tour bus with 5SOS. I sat up and stretched while looking around to see if anyone else was awake. I grabbed my phone and checked the time and it didn’t surprise me that no one else was. It was almost 6:30. I figured that I should probably shower and get dressed. Not quite sure what to do after I had finished, I got my book, and decided to start reading until someone else woke up.

Finally, Ashton woke up a little past 7:00. He showered, which took about twenty minutes, and then, noticing that I was awake, motioned for me to go into the other room with him. I set my book down and followed him out. The other room was much bigger and included a sitting area and a small but neat kitchen. Ashton was in the kitchen trying to find something to eat and realizing how much my stomach was growling, decided to help. Once we had found something we sat down to eat.

“How long have you been up?” Ashton asked.

“Not that long, around 6:30.” I replied in between mouthfuls.

“Just out of curiosity,” he said after a while smirking so that you could see his dimples. “is it you who snores?”

I smiled and blushed. “Yeah. Sorry about that.”

“No, it’s fine! Luke thought that it was really cute.” As soon as he had said it, his eyes widened as if he had not meant to say that last part.

“What?” I asked, wondering if I had heard him correctly.

“Oh, uh, nothing…”

“Ashton, what did you just say?” I said inquiringly.

“Luke thinks that it’s cute the way you snore. He said so last night after you and Sarah went to sleep. Ask any of the other guys.” he said quickly. “Don’t tell Luke I said that.”

I sat there for a while, unsure of whether Ashton was telling the truth. When he had said it he seemed so sincere. “Are you sure he said that?”

“Yeah, his exact words were: ‘Does anyone else find it cute the way that Laurel snores? Because quite honestly I do.’”

“There is no way he said that! First of all, my name and cute do not belong in the same sentence! Secondly, above all people, why in the world would Luke find me attractive? I mean, he’s Lucas Robert Hemmings!”

“I’m just telling you what he said!” Ashton said defensively. “But, and I’m being completely honest here,” he said after seeing the look of complete doubt on my face. “I would say that Luke really does like you.”

“Well, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but you’ve got it all wrong. Luke has no interest in me whatsoever.”

“Laurel, I’m sorry to tell you this but, I think you’re wrong. Just look at the way he looks at you. He’s never looked at anyone like that before.” Ashton said convincingly.

“Ashton, I think that you’re blowing this way out of proportion. I-“

I was cut off by the sound of the door opening followed by the entrance of Sarah, Luke, and Calum. Ashton and I both jumped up when they walked in and quickly took our dishes over to the sink while the rest of them sat down to eat.

“So, is everyone ready for tomorrow night?” Calum asked.

“Wait. What’s tomorrow?” Sarah questioned.

“The event that we’re playing at.” Luke replied.

“Oh, well I suppose. I mean, I haven’t really thought about it all that much but sure.” I said, amazed that I had completely forgotten.

“Are you guys only playing one song or are you allowed to do more than one?” Sarah asked after she had finished eating.

“We’re only doing one considering how there are a lot of other performers going.” Luke responded.

Seeing as how they had all finished eating, I collected their dishes and took them over to the sink for them. On my way there, I realized something was missing. “Where’s Michael?”

“Oh, he’s probably still sleeping.” Ashton said coming over to give me a hand with the dishes.

While we were washing them, Ashton nudged me and started coughing and saying “Luke” under his breath.

I turned my head and saw that he was indeed staring at me. What he did next was all too familiar because I had done it many times myself when I was looking at someone that I liked. He quickly glanced at Ashton, looked around at the whole room, then joined in Calum and Sarah’s conversation.

I quickly turned back to Ashton and quietly said, “That still doesn’t prove anything.” He raised an eyebrow and continued washing dishes. The rest of the time my mind kept drifting back to what Ashton had said. Luke didn’t like me. He couldn’t like me. Could he?
