Stole My Heart

When I finally did get to work I was about half an hour late. As soon as I walked through the doors my boss came straight up to me. Then he gave me a lecture about the importance of being punctual. I kind of zoned him out when I heard the radio. It was One Direction - my favorite artists. According to the radio, they would be playing a show downtown tomorrow night!

I sighed and said, " Aw chubbernuggets!" under my breath. I desperately wanted to go.

"Excuse me?" my boss asked raising an eyebrow.

Thinking quickly I said, "It won't happen again."

"Uh huh, just get to work."

I let out a sigh of relief and walked over to the register. There was Heather, one of my best friends and fellow co-worker. She was sitting on the counter with a bag of M and M's in her hand.

"Good, it's a relief to know you're still alive! Where have you been? I've been slaving away here for half an hour."

I hopped up on the counter and responded "I didn't feel like getting up. And there's hardly any people here. Yup, sure looks like you've been 'slaving away'. And third, could I have some M and M's?"

We both laughed and she gave me a handful.

"I'm being legit serious, I thought you were dead. You're never late... like EVER!" she said while popping some candy in her mouth.

"I don't know. I stayed up last night reading a book."

" You and your books. Sometimes I think your attatchment to them is unhealthy."

I pretended to be offened and responded, "Hey, in my defense it was really good! It was just sitting there on my night stand calling to me. And it's not as bad as our 1D obsession."

"True."

We spent the rest of the day at work talking. We got very few customers so it wasn't like we were doing any harm. We made plans to go roller skating with our friends Sarah and Nina that night. Sarah worked every other day at the music store and Nina worked at a store in the mall.
