Hanging By A Moment

Samantha's POV:
'Naww, I can't believe you'll be leaving us after today' Demi frowned as we sat around the table. We had a quick lunch break before resuming the rest of the auditions. 'Did you see?' a girl ran pass us with another girl. 'Oh my gosh come on' another girl pulled her friend out the door. We all turned to the door to see what the commotion was all about. 'What's happening?' I asked. 'I remember the last time there was this much commotion around here' LA chuckled. Demi and I raised our eyebrows at him.


Simon led the way out and people were running down the corridors like it was the end of the world. We followed Simon towards the screams and squeals. A smile immediately spread across my face and an inner excitement became obvious as the centre of attention walked towards our direction.



'I should have known' Simon chuckled.

'Hey Simon' Harry shook his hand. 'Harry' LA shook his hand. 'Demi' Harry gave her a peck on the cheek. 'Do you really have to create such a commotion' Demi rolled her eyes. 'Hey babygirl' Harry kissed my lips before moving to stand behind me. 'What are you doing here?' Demi asked. Harry intertwined his hands with mine as he stood behind me. 'I'm taking my fiancé back' he wrapped our intertwined hands around my body as he placed his head on top of mine. 'We've had her for 2 days' Demi argued. 'Yeah, that's two days...' Harry held out two fingers to show the number two. '...too long. Two days, two long' he argued back. 'Well you can have her back after today. We've still got auditions to finish' Simon told him. We all went back to the dressing room to re touch before resuming the show.

I sat on a high chair in front of the mirror waiting for the stylist while Harry leaned back on the bench were the mirror was. 'So how exactly did you bribe Jack to let you come here?' I asked as we linked hands while I sat down and he stood up. 'I told him if he doesn't let me go, I'm going to commit suicide' he joked. 'Harry, that's not funny' I raised my voice. 'I'm kidding, I'm kidding' he chuckled. 'Nah, we have a photo shoot schedule here on Saturday. And we didn't have much planned between now and then. So I asked if I could come down earlier' he explained. 'Oh okay, when are the rest of the boys coming?' I asked. 'Saturday noon' he replied. 'Well, Justin's throwing Selena a birthday party at his place Saturday night. Tell the lads to go to the party if they want' I informed him. The stylist came over and retouched my make up. After she was done it was time to get back to work. 'Can I come out with you?' Harry pouted as he wrapped his arms around my waist. 'Let me think about it....' I placed a finger on my jaw like it was a hard question to answer. 'Umm...No' I uttered. 'Why?' he whined. 'Harry, if they see you. I don't think my hearing will ever repair itself again' I joked.

I went back to the arena with the other judges and took our seat on the panel. There was a range of age auditioning for the show, from as young as 13 to as old as 60. And then there was a lot of different vocal range as well...

'Hi what's your name and what are you singing for us?' Demi asked the lady on stage. 'My name is Georgia Wilson and I'm singing My heart will go on' she answered. 'Go on' Demi signalled her. Simon covered his face as the contestant tried to sing like Celine Dion. When she had finished he receive minimal applause but us judges remained silent. 'How was it?' she asked. 'It went on and on' LA laughed. 'It felt like your performance went down like the titanic' I motioned with my hands sinking down. 'Thank you for coming' Simon waved at her.

'Hi sweetie what's your name?' I asked the teenage girl. 'Kaye Olsen' she replied in an ecstatic voice. 'You seemed really happy to be here' LA said. 'This is the best day of my life' she exclaimed jumping up and down. 'We haven't even said yes yet dear' Simon told her. 'Oh no it's okay' she assured us like she didn't want to get through. Demi and I creased our eyebrows out of confusion. 'I.. ... just met Harry Styles!' she yelled. The crowd screamed when they heard his name. Demi and LA covered their ears as it sounded like a screeching noise.




'Harry, Harry, Harry' the crowd chanted his name. 'Alright come down' Simon stood up and faced the audience. 'His not coming out' he informed and the audience ooh'd in disappointment. 'We're ready when you are' I told the girl. Music started to play and she started to sing. The girl had some potential but she was just singing out of time, she seemed really nervous. Although, throughout her performance she kept smiling. 'Sorry, I'm still a bit shaky' she apologised when the song ended . 'I feel like even though we don't say yes to you, you're still going to be leaving this place with a smile on your face' LA chuckled. We knew exactly what he meant. 'Kaye, I think Harry should be punished for being a distraction to you' I chuckled and she laughed.

'Alright everyone let's rock this place' a man came on stage full of energy. Demi and I exchanged glances. 'Hip, hip' the man raised his mic to the audience. 'Hooray' the audience called out. 'Hip, hip' he said again. 'Hooray' the audience replied.'You ready?' Simon motioned his hand to start. It was probably the most unexpected song from him ever. The man came in full of energy and then he sings a ballad 'Killing me softly'.I was literally bawling my eyes out from laughing. When he had finished there was silence in the arena. 'Now you made the baby cry' LA chuckled as the only noise in the room was a baby crying. 'You are absolutely killing us with that song' Simon asserted and the man left the stage. Simon heaved out a loud sigh and uttered 'Can it get worst'.

A boyband was next to audition. 'Lad's who do you inspire to be?' LA asked. 'One direction' they said in unison. 'Wooh' the crowds shouted. 'What are you guys going to sing' Demi asked as she played with her pen. 'What makes you beautiful' one of the boys answered. The oh-so familiar song started to play and the group began to sing. It was nothing like One Direction. I turned to my left and Simon was banging his head on the table while Demi on my right was covering her mouth with her papers. Thankfully, LA stop the music. 'Simon, what do you think?' he chuckled. 'Never' Simon shook his head. 'Sammie?' LA asked me next. I leaned in for the mic and gave my opinion. 'My fiance can sing that song solo, better than the 5 of you' I tried to be nice. The crowd oooouu'd at the comment. 'Ooohh snap!' Demi blurted. 'Well who's your fiance?' one of the boys asked. 'You should't have asked that' LA warned him. I took a deep breath and answered. It wasn't like I was bragging or anything but I had to say it. 'I'll tell you what boys, go backstage and asked for Harry Styles' I suggested. The audience clapped and cheered at my smart ass comment.

A gay guy came on stage and sang and dance to 'All that Jazz'. 'It was vey theatrical' I tried to give nice feedback. 'It was just weird' Simon confronted. He left the stage with a frown.

'Ooh la la' Demi sang as a fit young boy came on stage with a guitar. 'Hi, what's your name?' Demi asked. 'My name is Edward' he answered in a cute American accent. 'Edward, what are you singing for us today?' Demi smiled her best smile. 'I'll be singing Boyfriend by Justin Bieber' he replied. The boy started to strum his guitar and sang with a heavenly voice. The audience clapped along as he sang 'If I was your boyfriend never let you go, keep you in my arm girl'. The boy had so much charisma, it was probably a crime for me to be starting at another boy beside Harry. We all stood up and clapped at the end of his performance. 'Edward, Edward, Edward' I muttered. 'I'm probably going to get in trouble for saying this...'I paused. 'But that was sex-xy' I articulated and the crowed cheered in agreement. 'What his voice or his body?' LA chuckled. 'You probably will get in to trouble Samantha' Simon flicked through his papers. 'Cause Edward has written in his About Me section, that you're his celebrity crush' Simon smirked at me. The audience whistled and I felt my cheeks get hot. 'So how about it Sammie, can he be your boyfriend?' LA smirked. 'Yes' the crowd urged. 'Err, sorry. I'm engaged' I held up my ring. 'Nawww' Simon smirked. 'But It's a yes for you to go to booth camp' I told. The other judges also gave him their sweet yes.

The next contestant was a pair of girls who sang Taylor Swift.'We never ever ever ever 'Simon began. 'Ever' I added. 'Wanna hear you sing' Simon continued. 'Can we just please do another song?' they asked. 'Absolutely never' LA laughed.

The last performer for the day was a group of guys. 'Boybands and another one and another one and another one' Demi and I sang the lyrics from Jonas Brother's Year 3000 as a boyband stood on stage. 'Hello, boys what are you singing for us' I asked. 'Kiss you by One direction' they answered and as usual the crowd cheered at the song choice. 'This is probably the 50th time we've heard this song' LA groaned 'And the 100th time we've heard a one direction audition' Demi added.

Surprisingly, this was probably the best One Direction audition I've sat through. The boys got the crowd on their feet dancing and singing along. I felt like I was in a one direction concert. They sounded just like One Direction, I don't know if it was a good thing. 'Thank you lads' LA said when the song finished. The audience applauded their performance. 'Demi, what do you think?' LA asked. 'To me you sounded just like one direction and I think you need to differentiate yourself with them' she said exactly what I was thinking 'I just think you put yourself in direct competition with the hottest boyband in the world and you're not ready to compete with someone as big as them, it's a no sorry' the audience boo'd her. 'I like it' Simon commented. 'I like your energy and the way you worked together throughout the song, it's a yes' Simon nodded his head. 'I think there's some things to work on, but you sound great as a group, so I'll take my chances and say yes' LA said and the audience clapped. 'So you have two yes' Simon held out two fingers. 'You just need a yes from Harry Style's fiancé' he pointed at me with his pen. The audience, Demi and LA laughed at the name calling.




Great, I was the decider of these boy's fate, no pressure Sammie, no pressure AT all. 'Well, I like your vocals, I like your harmony. But I do agree with what Demi is saying' I paused. 'Say yes' the crowd called out. I folded my arms pondering about my decision. 'Ohkay fine, your in' I announced and the boys jumped for joy.

After that last audition people slowly evacuated the arena. We exchanged goodbyes with one another and then LA, Simon and Demi left. I stayed behind in the arena with Britney's PA to pass on some paper works. 'Thank you Ms. Robertson' the lady shook my hands and left. I stood up and noticed a solitary figure on stage. 'I would like to audition' a boy came on stage with a mic.
