Am I Safe?

After parking my car I practically sprint to my apartment. I quickly shut the door, drop my bags and head into the kitchen. These notes scare me. Who would do this? Do I know them? What if th--.. Alana stop! I need to find a way to get my mind off of this. I reach in my pocket in search for my phone. I find myself dialing my mom’s number. After a few rings she picks up.
“Hey Honey”
“Hey mom”
“Is everything okay sweetie? Do you want to come home?”
“What? No mom I’m fine.” I laugh a little at her desperation to get me to come home.
“Oh well a mother can try can’t she? I really miss you Alana”
“I miss you too mom”
“So how do you like the apartment? What did you do today?” I glance over at the clock to see it’s already nine O’ clock. Wow long day.
“I went and bought some food, toiletry items, some paper for the printer, and other necessities and when I was done I headed to forever 21 and picked out a few outfits then came home” The word home felt foreign in my mouth.
“Oh well did you look into any jobs yet?”
“No I decided to do that tomorrow, but I do have a place in mind so don’t worry.” I reassure her “Okay just don’t procrastinate honey”
“Yes mom. Well it’s late so I’ll let you go love you goodnight” I say smiling into the phone
“Love you too, get some sleep you sound tired” With that we both hung up, I feel so much better after hearing my mom’s voice. She is always so comforting. I leave the kitchen to go grab the bags and my purse. When I reach the door I see that it’s cracked open, I thought I closed it. I was probably in such a rush I didn't notice. I shrug it off as I quickly close and lock it. I grab the bags taking some into the kitchen to put the food away, and leaving some in the hallway to deal with in the morning. As I am putting the last few items into the fridge my stomach reminds me that I haven’t eaten since breakfast. I grab a bag of chips from the cabinet as I make my way to my bedroom. I get undressed and take a quick shower and brush my teeth deciding I am too tired to eat. I dress in my boxer shorts and tank top to sleep in. I turn off the light and lay down curling up into a ball I slowly close my eyes, trying to rest my mind.
*The next morning*
I slowly got up and turned off my alarm. I had to go check out the job opening at the Italian restaurant down the street. I make my way to the bathroom and pull my hair up into a neat but simple pony tail. I got dressed in a pencil skirt that wasn't too short or too long then put on my best blouse tucking it in. It was a little chilly outside so i grabbed my black cardigan as well. I eat a small bowl of cereal before brushing my teeth, grabbing my bag and leaving.
Since the restaurant was close to my apartment i decided to walk. I get there in ten minutes. Thankfully they were open this early i thought as i walk through the doors. I had to stop my jaw from dropping, the place looked nice on the outside but its like stepping into a whole new world when you enter the inside. It had chandeliers in every corner of the room the tables were perfectly arranged, and the walls were this beautiful cream color. i walk to the center of the room and do a 360.
"Ha you like it?" I jump and quickly turn around my eyes meeting with warm brown ones. I smile at him and reach out my hand for him to shake.
"Hi, my name's Alana Martin and i saw your sign for help outside, do you have an application or anything?"
"Hello Alana, I am Liam Payne and i am the manager. We are all out of applications so we can sit down and i'll ask you some questions and we'll go from there." He smiled sweetly at me.
"Okay cool" We both took a seat at the nearest table since no one was here this early.
" Alright lets begin" Liam said
