Chapter 11: Who Started It?

Leila's P.O.V.

I’m glad that we can finally go home now. All during this last session, people were whispering and looking at me, acting like I’ve been doing something wrong. Are they surprised that Niall and I hung out together or something? Are they believing the rumor, too?

I begin to collect my things when Spencer walks up to me, clearly angry and annoyed.

“I thought I told you to stay away from him,” she delivers through gritted teeth.

“We’re just friends,” I assure her.

“And you two went out to lunch together? Alone?” she points out.

“Well-I-”

“Save it. If you won’t stay the fuck away from him, just know that I’ll make sure it happens,” Spencer demands, and turns on her heel and struts away from me.

I hate this girl. I hate her so much. How can she just tell me to stay away from my friend? She doesn’t have that power to keep me away from him. So what if her “daddy” is one of our managers? I haven’t done anything wrong, he can’t do anything about this.

I finish packing up my stuff and head back to my apartment. It’s beginning to rain, and I get inside the apartment building just as it starts to pour. Perfect timing.

I get up to my floor and into the apartment to find out Madison’s not back yet, so I decide to make dinner. Spaghetti should be fine, I hope.

I make it with no problems and I’m about to start eating when Madison finally does walk in.

“Hey, sorry, I had a little study party with some of my friends,” she explains, taking off her shoes and walking to her room to put her stuff away. She comes back out and dishes herself out some spaghetti, sitting next to me.

“A study party?” I ask, my eyebrows raising.

“Oh, shut up, yes we did study,” Madison says.

We eat and do some chores, then Madison heads into her room to do her homework. I have to memorize my lines, so I get the living room to myself.

The night passes with no interruptions and the next day arrives. Forecast calls for more rain, so I take the bus downtown to the studio instead of walk. As I enter the meeting room, everyone still stares at me as I step to my place. This time, people are giggling and pointing at me. What is going on?

I seat myself in my chair and open up my script, rereading my lines for the umpteenth time. Spencer laughs really loud from the other side of the table and looks at me with a sparkle in her eye, but goes back to her chat with the guy she’s talking with. I focus back on my script when Alexa sits next to me, smiling.

“Hey,” she greets.

“Hey,” I say back.

“Have a good night?” she asks, pulling out her script.

“Yeah, it was fine. I made spaghetti, if that’s an accomplishment,” I tell her, laughing a little.

Mr. Conners walks in and we begin reading through the script, completely memorized. Then we head out to the sets and run through the scenes we’ve blocked. We get through a few scenes that haven’t been blocked yet, leaving us with about 4 scenes that still need direction once we get back from lunch.

I gather my stuff together and a few of my cast members are also around there, talking with each other. They don’t realize I’m right there, considering I can tell they’re talking about me. I pause to overhear their conversation.

“Is it true?” a curly blonde-haired girl asks.

“Is what true?” a brunette guy questions.

“That Leila’s only hanging out with Niall because she’s desperate and she wants fame?” the curly blonde-haired girl explains. What?

“I’m not sure, that’s what everyone’s saying. I don’t really know Leila that much to know if she’s the kind who would do that,” a different blonde-haired girl says.

“I will admit, Niall’s pretty hot, though. I would hang out with him in a second, but not for the fame, I mean, who would do that?” the curly blonde-haired girl reveals.

“Apparently, Leila,” the brunette guy claims.

I can’t take any more of their conversation. So this is why everyone is talking about me. Who would even say that? Alexa? Max?

Spencer. That’s who started this rumor. I can’t believe that she would even say that. Is she trying to ruin my life? Probably, that’s who she is. Now I’m irritated at her even more. But what can I do? No one will really listen to me. Half of this cast doesn’t even know the real me, and is being fed lies by Spencer, who is apparently the “queen” here even though so many people hate her.

I’m about to break down and cry. Just thinking of my whole cast hating on me because of lies. At least I have Alexa and Max who do know the real me.

“Hey, are you ready yet?” a voice from behind me speaks. I almost jump as I realize it’s Alexa.

“Yeah, sorry,” I answer, picking up my stuff and standing up. I put on a fake smile and join Alexa and Max.

We take the bus to a Subway and eat lunch. I’m really quiet, but Alexa and Max don’t even seem to notice. I’m too distracted by what everyone thinks of me to even concentrate on their conversation.

After lunch, we head back and get ready for the second session of the day. As I walk on set, a guy randomly approaches me.

“Hey, Leila, where’s your little boyfriend today? Was he too mad at you to show up?” he jeers. He laughs and walks back to his friends, who are also chuckling at him.

I turn away from them and a tear rolls down my cheek. No, no crying Leila. You have to be strong about this. I wipe the tear away and focus on the scene. Alexa comes up next to me, where she’s supposed to be, and she can tell something’s wrong, but doesn’t say anything.

We get through the rest of today, people still laughing at me and Spencer smirking at me as she knows I’m hurting. I know I should tell Alexa, Max, even Niall, but I don’t bring myself to approach them. I quickly get my stuff ready and take the bus back to my apartment, not looking anyone in the eye. As soon as I reach my apartment, I go straight to my room, thankful Madison’s not back yet. I close the door and collapse on my bed, closing myself up and letting out all the tears. I let out all the loud sobs first, as long as Madison’s not here, and then it eases up. I take my box of tissues on my nightstand and blow my nose a few times into one. I look at myself in my full length mirror on the wall and realize I have streaks of makeup running down. I use my water bottle to wet the tissue and try to scrub some of the makeup off and clean up my face before heading out into the kitchen for dinner. I’m somewhat satisfied with my cleaning job and now that I’ve let out all the crying, I’m alright with leaving my bedroom. I just hope Madison doesn’t suspect anything.

Notes

Sorry it's kinda short, again. I'm trying to write them longer! Anyway, I feel bad for Leila! Even though I wrote her and all of this mean stuff that's happening...

Please keep voting and sharing!

@leikelamichelle

Sounds good to me - other fanfic ideas are just as good as sequels! I'm certainly not trying to pressure you into writing a sequel, I was just curious as to whether you, at this point in time, planned on it :).

I do look forward to your new Niall (or Ashton or otherwise) story ideas ^_^
