The Last Goodbye

Tonight Will End

It wasn't quite like dreaming. I felt though as if I was apart of this temporary illusion. I could hear and smell things that were very familiar. And the closer I payed attention, the more it looked like a scene from some kind of movie. Except I wasn't the lead character...,she was.

>>>>>>Alternate Flashback<<<<<<<

Victoria's POV

I stood in front of Niall's friend Avery who appeared to be mesmerized by the book case. It was a tall glass shelf that made up of four rows of antique novels. Avery tapped on the glass that shielded them.

"Why the hell is it locked?" He cursed. "It's probably under lock and key because someone could damage them." I told him.

"You know what screw it I came here to party anyway. Want me to go get us some drinks?" Avery asked.

"No thanks." I politely declined.

"Well I do." He simply said before leaving me.

I watched him as he strode off and tied his scraggly long red hair into a pony tail. A girl walked in front of him and seemed to have payed him no attention. Yet that still didn't stop Avery who spun all the way around just to stare at her. I shook my head at him, because for a second I thought I was going to have a decent conversation with him.

I tilted my head sideways so I could get a better look at the engravings on the books. They looked remarkably old and it's binding was fragile. Just one touch and it could break apart. Funny because I think we had that in common. When I positioned my head back up I saw a clear view of my reflection. I could see the length of my black skirt hitting the floor, and the detailing on my white crocheted crop top. One thing I didn't see was my dove necklace.

I quickly held my hand to my neck so I could feel for the chain. I calmed down afterwards when I felt the charm underneath my fingertips. I held onto the end of it and turned around. Harry was still standing by the entrance talking to Niall and every so often he would glance over to look at me. I was getting ready to join them til a couple walked in front of me.

"Hi! You're Victoria Chambers....right?" The girl eagerly asked me. I hesitated before answering her. It wasn't on purpose. I just sometimes freeze up when people I've never met talk to me. It was on the list of the five worst things I could possible do. And my severe shyness was third.

"Yeah." I replied not knowing who she was or what she wanted.

"So um I was wondering if I could maybe get a quick picture with you?" She grinned excitedly. Moments like this I try to avoid only because, it's rude of me if I say no and even weirder if I say yes. But the girl voluntarily stood close beside me and formed a peace sign with her hand. The guy she was with took the picture and handed the phone back to the girl.

"I think I might have blinked." I shyly said. She looked at her picture, then looked up at me.

"It's great thanks" She says, "and Victoria sorry about your lost." The couple's mood changed and both gave me an empathetic smile before waving goodbye. When she said that she gave me back a reminder that I no longer wanted, at least for the night.

As I waved them bye I noticed a group of more people slowly approaching with their phones clamped in their hands. I shuffled through them to just to get to another section of the room. They all were huddled together, dancing to Closer by Tegan and Sara. Though I somehow managed to make my way to the bottom level where the atmosphere was less crowded. You could still hear everything from down here that went on above. It was just less populated down here.

The people who stayed down here was either too high or drunk to give a crap about anything. There were very little sitting areas available. I did spot a small red velvety couch where three people already sat. It was enough room for one more person. I figured I could sit there and wait for Harry to come and find me. But as soon I sat down I saw how spaced out they were. A guy with a completely shaved head and ,covered with tattoos starting from the sides of his face to further down, turned on his side to talk to me.

He kept his mouth open then started laughing. "You know this stuff isn't that bad." He paused. He placed my hand in his and before I could react the guy was shoved further away from me. I stood up and Harry was there more pissed of than usual. When I turned back around the guy was scrambling to get back on his feet.

I tried to bend down to help him up, but he held his hands up to prevent me. "Are you okay?" I bent down to ask him. "Just stay the fuck away from me,please. People always tend to get hurt when your around." The guy spat as he walked off with the other two girls who sat on the other side of him.

That made me feel a lot worse, because I thought people put that incident behind them. At least I was willing to try. "Don't listen that burnout of an asshole." Harry yelled loud enough for that guy to hear.

"Why do you always have to do that?" I asked Harry.

"Do what?" He said innocently as if was unaware of his behavior. I tried to hold a serious and stern look on my face, but Harry mimicked my facial expression. I crumbled and easily forgave him yet again.

"So are we done here? Can we leave now?" He asked impatiently.

"We can't leave now you don't have the keys to the car." I replied. He pulled out a pair of keys from the backs of his pockets, then spun them around his fingers.

"But we just just got here. Besides how long has it been since it was just you and I?" I say as I narrow my eyes up at him and pretend to think about it.

Harry walked towards me intertwining his fingers with mine. "A while." He sighed. His green eyes were turning less serious and were fading back to the ones I remember. "How about we go somewhere then just the two of us?" Harry suggested as he leaned his forehead against mine.

Without any hesitation I exerted backwards and pulled his arm. He led us both back to the top floor and we almost got to the front door to leave. I was a little disappointed I was leaving so quickly after only being here for about twenty-minutes. I passed by the people on the way out and I saw life in their faces. It reminded me of who I use to be. Fun, carefree, reckless.

"HARRY?!" I heard the startling shrieks of a few girls behind us. Harry and I both walked a little faster. He was holding onto my wrist so wherever he went so did I. Harry then turned a corner missing the entrance and opened a door. We both went through another room.

"Why did you come in here?" I asked him trying to catch my breath.

"They would have followed us even if we did leave. I don't think they saw us come in here." He said with his ear up against the door. I tried to turn a light on but there wasn't a lightbulb in any of the lamps. It was a bit dark in the room and you could see just about all the shadows that was being forecasted everywhere. You could tell Stacey was still renovating this beach house.

The walls were halfway painted and unopened paint cans were everywhere. A mattress still in plastic sat upright against the wall. Curtains were thrown on the floor. It was only one window in the room. It was large enough that it just about met the end of the floor. The last thing I noticed was Harry looking at a picture that hung on the wall. I stood next to him and pretended to look at it too, but I couldn't help but stare at Harry.

A small smile spread across my face. Because even though almost everyone sometimes thought of him differently. It was nice to know that I was one of the few people who saw him for who he really was. "You know I'm still trying to figure out why your still pretending to like me ?" I declared trying to conceal the humor in my voice.

He smiled, cleared his throat then looked away. "You're right I don't like you." He extended his arm and tucked a strand of loose hair behind my ear. "I love you."

"That was incredibly cheesy.." I grinned. He ignored me then leaned forward to kiss me. It was an easy way of shutting me up and so far it always worked. It was like we collided. His mouth was on mind before I could even catch my breath. He held onto to both sides of my face, then slowly started to slide down the floor.

Harry sat down with his back against the wall and I followed almost forming to his shape. There was a mixture of yelling and laughter that went on the other side of the door. Neither one of us stopped. I fumbled my hand to the collar on Harry's shirt trying to make it open. I felt the vibration coming from his chest. He was laughing at the way I was clumsily pulling at the fabrics on his shirt. I was only like that because, I felt like we hadn't been alone for weeks. When In was only just a few days. From the way frantic direction in his hand I could tell he felt the same way.

Harry leaned his head and kissed his way over my collarbone. Going up to my neck, under my jaw, then back to my lips. I soon jolted backwards after I heard another scream come from the opposite side of the door. Instead of laughter followed by it this time the entire house was silent.

"Where is she? I know she's here!" A young male voiced laughed hysterically. I recognized his voice, I knew exactly who it was. My stomach felt like it was turning into a bottomless pit. Trouble was looking for me and it reluctantly found me.
