Chapter 41: The Bump.
About 6 months later
I walked out of the tent my stomach had swollen up. I was about 5 months pregnant and just about as angry as a hormonally imbalanced mamma bear woken up during hibernation while being hungry- lovely.
“Liam!” I called
Zayn came over “ Liam went to the lake to fish, what’s up”
Zayn put his hands on my tummy “I’m so excited Scarlett! You’re 6 and half months pregnant! That’s less than THREE months left! THREE!”
I laughed Zayn was so into this baby thing. “I know Zayn, Trust me I know.”
“Do you have a guess on what it’s going to be?” Zayn asked, “ What do you think?”
It had gotten very cold; the winter air was icy then, luckily even in March the air had warmed up at bit.
Zayn and I sat down with the rest of the boys Liam and Louis hoping up to help me. Niall was getting up to move to another seat.
“No” I said pointing to Niall “Don’t even try, sit your ass down Horan. I’m not dying I can sit anywhere for fuck sake”
He laughed, “Pregnant Scarlett’s my favourite Scarlett.”
“Tell me about it” Louis laughed
It made me giggle. I sat down Next to Liam and Zayn. Louis beside Harry across from us and Niall- well he still moved, he was now next to Louis.
The boys had all gotten so skinny over the winter months and I had begged them to eat everything on their plates, meat was not around often, we had even taken to sleeping in a tent together, all of us too keep warm. They still tried to make me eat parts of their meals.
I looked at everyone. The bump had brought us all closer- most of us.
Zayn and Louis jokingly argued about being the favourite uncle, Niall laughed and but his head in usually saying “Oi, Noo dat kid’s gonna be like his Oncle Niall,” He would always bring his accent out and make it more pronounced because somehow it always made me laugh.
Liam would sing to the bump and have conversations with it- like full blown convos it was adorable.
And Harry, He had become distant, he would distance himself from Me and Liam and everyone really, it was odd to see him sitting with anyone, he would usually be by the quarry alone or with Hades.
“Do you have a guess on what it’s going to be?” Zayn asked pulling me back into the real world, “ What do you think? The baby"
“I don’t know.” I replied, “What do you guys think?”
“Boy.” Niall said, “It’s going to be a boy.”
“I think it’s going to be a boy too” Liam nodded
“For Scarlet’s sake I hope it’s a girl but I think its going to be a boy” Zayn said
I laughed “Wayyy to much testosterone, maybe I’ll grow a penis? Who knows!”
They all grinned except for harry who kept looking down.
“Really mate, I don’t think so, I think it’s going to be a girl” Louis said
“Why?” I asked
“I don’t know.” Louis said, “I have no clue I just think it’s going to be a girl.”
I nodded.
“How about you harry?” Niall asked “a boy or girl?”
He shrugged “don’t know”
I tugged at my lip, a habit I had when I was upset or worried. Niall looked at me apologetically, “Any baby names yet?”
Liam and I had kept the baby names secret “Yes, but you tell us your first the baby names aren’t written in stone.”
“Hmmm” Niall said, “Oi like lots of names but, I think harry should answer, the rest of us answered boy or girl”
“Darcy” Harry said immediately “I think Darcy’s a pretty name”
I nodded “It’s lovely, I wanted to call my baby Darcy when I was little, but I found out it means dark and I just didn’t feel it anymore ya know?”
“I know” harry nodded
“We wanted to name this baby either Taylor for a girl, or Nicholas for a boy” Liam said
“Nicholas after my Nick, my big brother my protector.” I said
And right after that, the baby kicked.
