I roughly chopped up the mint leaves, a lot of them and I tossed them into a pot of boiling water. I was going to make a tea. A small handful of pine needles was also added. It made a hearty tea, Nick had taught me how to make the pine needle mint tea. Everyone was working on his or her items for breakfast. Louis had the deer shank in a huge oddly shaped bowl full of hot water over the stove. Harry’ s ‘pancakes’ turned out looking all right. Niall’s fruit medley made my mouth water. Liam had cooked the rabbits over the fire we all sat down to eat leaving the bowl with the shank cooking over the fire.

We used cracked glass plates for our breakfast-Two people per plate and we each drank from a cup or jar. Louis and Harry shared a plate because they were next to each other the same with Niall and Liam, which essentially left me and Zayn sharing a plate. Awkward much?

“so,” I began picking up a piece of squirrel meat “Tell me your stories.”

“Well,” Liam Began “We are from The UK.”

“Wow” My eyes widened “You a long way from home, what are a bunch of you Uk folk doing so far away from the motherland”

“We auditioned for the X-Factor and we met there we were put into a band but we didn’t win. Third place.”

I nodded “that’s cool” I said

“Yeah,” Zayn mumbled

“Girls?” I asked “Any lovely girlfriends?”

Louis pulled out a crinkled picture of a beautiful girl with brown hair, brown eyes and breathed her name “Eleanor”

He looked up at me “I really loved her-I still do” tears clouded his vision “she was-is perfect, I wanted to marry her, start a family with her.”

I nodded “Louis, I’m sorry for asking but, what happened?”

“I don’t know she called before the world went to shit and I never heard from her again.” He whispered as he pressed his lips to her picture

I stayed quiet.

“Her name was Perrie, She was amazing” Zayn smiled “We were engaged, she made me so happy, she was silly and loving and just fantastic, she supported me and stuck with me through everything. Now for all I know she’s dead”

I put my hand over Zayn’s and squeezed lightly “hey, Zayn I know it hurts, but who knows she may be okay!”

“England was hit the hardest other that the USA. Less that 0.21% of the population is alive in the UK and that’s a estimate I’m being nice.” Niall said

I nodded solemnly.

“Danielle, Dani, we had broken up it was a mutual decision, I started fooling around with another girl afterwards, it numbed me I had no feeling for Danielle afterwards, but I love her, I always will you never forget your first love right?” Liam said smiling lightly at me

“ Harry? Niall?” I asked

they shook their heads.

“His name was Hunter. Hunter Blake Heathcliff. He was perverted and striking, hysterical, and idiot. I love him, but he left to find a safe place, he never came back. He left me with Nick and Hades, but Hades if all I have left” I said

“You have us.” Liam said “We need to stick together now, we are family Scarlett”

I nodded “Thank you Liam”

He smiled

We quietly began eating we just enjoyed it and prepared for the hunt
