my eyes flutter open. the light from the window stuns me as i widen my eyes. i sit up and look around the room. I look out the window, the glass is mildly foggy but clear enough to see what is outside. The sky was bright blue with puffy wight clouds here and there. i could tell that it was moist out side. i stretch my arms wile kicking off the bed sheets. i quietly get out of bed wile rubbing my itchy eyes.
i walk over to the window and put my hands on the cold glass. i look at my reflection; my hair was in knots and my clothes were wrinkled. i step back and walk out of the room. i slowly make my way down the long hallway. i look in all the rooms, nothing,nothing,nothing...something! but not a something... a someone! i peek in to see Gregg... I mean Louis looking over Thomas. he looks up at me.
''hi'' he says awkwardly, but in a funny way
'' your up'' i say back
''so are you''
''what have you been dong?''
''oh i just got up, i had to sleep in a chair so i was stretching''
''...oh...''
''yeah... im thinking that i will make my way back home today''
''really? but... why?''
''my wife is sick, and i cant just leave her! i love her!
'' and what will you do once you get there?... nothing. there is nothing you can do. your just going to risk your life going back there when sh is going to die anyway''
'' dont say that about her! she is strong!''
'' i thought my mother was strong to and she died!'' i yell at him when Thomas wakes up '' you think she is strong?! what makes you think that she is any different than the rest of the sick people, huh?!''
'' ITS WORTH A TRY!'' he yells back at me
'' TO TRY WHAT?! THERE IS NOTHING TO TRY! why cant you get this through your thick skull! NOTHING! do i have to spell it out for you!''
'' LOOK AT HARRY! HE IS SURVIVING!''
''wait what are you uys talking about'' Thomas whispers
we both ignore him
''ONLY BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN TREATING HIM!''
'' well why cant you just treat my wife?''
'' Listen, i cant just make her magically appear so we can start working on her, okay!''
'' well what if i bring her here?''
''if you can do that, than go ahead but it would be smart to tell Dr. Vandore your plan first''
'' no shit''
''come on dick, i was on your side''
'' im sorry... how would you feel if the lover of your life was about to die?''
my mouth drops and Thomas's eyes pop. we look at eachother than look back at Louis
'' you son of a a bitch!'' he looks frightened '' i cant believe that you would actually have the nerve to say that to me!... my parents died. you think you have it bad well you don't! come back at me when your family dies and you have no where to go! if it was not for me living here and the doctor and Thomas watching me i would have died!...''
he stays quiet
'' your a coward, Louis, A COWARD'' i tell him
'' wait Louis? i thought his name was Gregg!'' Thomas says
i shake my head at Louis
'' Your a liar too. you lied about who you really were. Thomas, his real name is Louis''
'' Really? what else have you lied about, Louis?''
'' That's it. i have not told anything else''
'' i see your nose growing, Pinocchio. Tell us the truth, what else have you lied about?'' i ask again
''...where im from...''
'' you know, you really are a asshole. have you every realized how big of a dick you are?''
'' i was not always like this! how do you expect someone to be completely honest to some stranger?!''
'' how do you expect someone to let some stranger live with them! and not just any stranger, one that puts a gun to innocent child and threatens to take over this hospital!''
'' i was scared! who is not scared during these times!''
'' you think that everyone nearly kills people because they were scared?! you are not smart and your surly not a hero of any kind. All you are is a lying coward''
'' and what, you think you are doing the doctor a favor by tagging along wile she is trying to find a cure and save everybody?!''
'' hey jackass, Lucy was the one that did most of the work finding a cure'' Thomas yells
'' i really have no clue where you think you are going to end up arguing with me'' i tell him angrily '' your not right! you may think your the smart one, the one that has all the answers, the one that will save us all but your not! so just stay out of the way!''
Louis stands there, speechless
''i remember when people would talk about you. they would say how Louis was so nice, how Louis was so handsome,how Louis had the best smile but all you really are is a coward. you should be ashamed of yourself'' i tell him
he has nothing to say
'' Im sorry'' he whispers
'' you should be''
