I slam my door shut and fall on my bed. I hear the storm start to roll in and the water start to fall. I cover up with my blanket and pull my book bag closer to me. I search through my messy bag until I find my pencil and social studies homework. A big flash of light struck out from the sky.
"Lucy! Lucy, come down here! Hurry" Mum cries.
"Coming!" I yell back at her making my was down the wooden stairs.
"What's wrong mum?"
"The news! It said that their is something going around…"
" what? What are you talking about?"
" Plague. It's come back…"
" But isn't their a solution?"
" Their was… but it's much worse now… "
" I still don't understand. Were is the antidote?"
" It's almost extinct, we need to find another anti don't soon. We are almost out of time"
" why can't we just leave?"
"Because…" my father says interrupting me and mums conversation.
"Because the country is isolated so we don't contaminate the rest of the world"
" How will they stop it!" I say to my father. I feel my cheeks burning red from the fear of what will happen.
"They? Who is they, Lucy?"
"I…I don't know"
"exactly"
"but… so are we just stuck here?!"
" Until someone finds a cure, than I guess that we have no hope"
"This can't be!" I cry " How did plague get here?"
my father sighed
" A group of volunteers took a trip to Africa to help people in need. On their trip they picked up the disease"
"But wouldn't they be checked for disease before they entered the country?"
"And that's another thing that we don't know"
" Will we survive?"
my mum walked closer and hugged me
"Lets just prey"
i step back and pull her hands off
"What do you mean?! Is this the end?!" I yell " why won't someone do something?! What about that Antidote that mum was talking about?"
"it's very rare to find" mum says " it is not possible for our entire country to have such a rare idem. Not even the elite can get a small sip of it"
At that moment when she said that it completely destroyed my hope. I turn around and run up the stairs wiped the tears off my eyes. I lock myself in my room and sit myself by the window and watch the raindrops roll down the glass. I think it calms me down.
