One Thousand Songs Later

Luke's POV:

"Come on! I'll teach you!" I begged.

"No! Luke, we both know I'm a horrible dancer and everyone at school thinks I'm freak!" Lily protested.

It had been several months since Lily retuned. Lily was at first, hesitant at my first attempts of affection but I've grown on her and we've gone on a couple of dates now. I had just asked for her to go to Prom with me, but Lily didn't want to go.

"Come on! We have less than two weeks left of high school before we go off to college, don't you want to make the last days count?" I asked. She shook her head. I dipped my hand into my pocket, and pulled out a thin box.

"I even got you a fake corsage; no pollen." I opened the box and revealed a purple orchid, identical to the one from three years ago. I watched as Lily's eyes softened at the corsage and a smile spread across her lips. Yes! I thought. She was sure to say yes now.

"Okay, but you're giving me dancing lessons everyday until the dance!" I grinned, mission accomplished.

"You realize that the dance is on Friday and today is Thursday, right?"

"I guess the lessons will just have to start now." Lily concluded.

"Okay, we'll first just begin with ballroom dancing like before, okay?" She nodded and I stepped closer to her, placing my hand on her waist and lightly taking my hand.

"There's not much room in here." Lily noted. I glanced around her pink room.

"It will be fine." I took a step forward with my right foot, she took a step back with her left. I began to waltz faster and her steps became sloppier and clumsier. At one point, she bumped into me and I lost my balance and staggered onto the enormous mirror on the wall. My foot caught on something and I tumbled down.

"Are you okay?" Lily rushed over to me and I shakily stood up, looking for what I had tripped over.

"Yeah, I tripped over something..." I mumbled, then noticed some black plastic, peeking from under the mirror. I walked over to the side of the mirror and looked in between the crack.

"Wait! Don't look there!" Lily quickly put herself in-between me and the edge of the mirror. I frowned.

"Why? What's in there?"

"Nothing, it's nothing." Lily said nervously.

"If it's nothing, then why can't I see it?"

"Because, it's private." Lily lied. I quickly walked to the other side of the mirror and reached for the black plastic bag.

"Don't open it! Stop! There's-there's- tampons!" Lily blushed deeply and took the half open bag out of my hands. I peered curiously inside, despite Lily's earlier accusation.

"Tell me - do tampons have fur?" I cocked my eyebrow. She sighed.

"Please, I should've thrown away that bag months ago, I've just been really busy with all the Schoolwork."

"Lily, you're scaring me with all you're excuses, what's in the bag?" I asked a little louder, cornering her into her closet.

"Nothing! It's just my trash bag that's all! I threw away some of Leo's toys and one of them happens to be a stuffed animal!"

"I don't believe you. Let me see the bag." I said warningly. Before she could protest once more, I forcefully pulled the garbage bag out of her grip and tipped it upside down.

A sweater, socks, leggings, boots, a few scraps of paper, and tons of beheaded teddy bears fell out. I picked up the two scraps of paper and read them quickly, my face paled. The silence was deafening but my thoughts were louder. After a long moment of silence, I asked:

"Who..?"

"I don't know." Lily whispered. She looked like she was going to burst into tears. I held out my arms and she gratefully welcomed them.

"Why didn't you tell me about this?" I murmured into her shoulder.

"I don't want you getting hurt, or Leo or Louis and Eleanor." I pulled away from her, looking into her eyes.

"How are you not crying?" I asked, cupping her trembling cheek.

"I ask myself that everyday." She said shakily, with a weak smile. I gave her one more hug and then pulled her on my lap onto her bed.

"Tell me, tell me everything."

So I decided that I would continue with this story, but I do have to skip ahead several months or else it would be completely boring. But please PLEASE read my new story!!!! The name is Manners and I'm practically begging you to read it! Thank you for convincing me that this story needs to be finished.
