Listening to Niall
Chapter 11: staying fit
My alarm went off at 5:30 am. I shut it off fast before it wakes Eleanor.
I look over to her bed. She is still asleep. Good.
I get up quietly and go wash my face and brush my teeth.
I go back to our room and glance over to Eleanor again to make sure she is still asleep.
I put on my trainers. I get my water bottle out of my bag and walk out of the room checking
one last time that she is asleep.
I fill up the bottle and walk out of the flat.
I walk to where Harry said I should meet him. I'm exhausted.
He isn't there yet so I sit down on the bench looking out to the still sleeping street.
"Didn't think you will show" I hear a voice behind me
"Well I did" I get up from where I was sitting.
"Ok" He said looking at me. "Well come on" He nods with his head to the path he wanted to take.
We started jogging quietly together through the trees. I had my hoodie up I was cold.
After 15 minutes I started getting tired.
"Stop running, just walk" Harry said, slowing down himself.
I did as he said. I could feel him staring at me.
"What?" I ask not looking at him.
"Tell me why" He said
"Why what?"
"Why you want to train so badly".
I kept quiet for a while thinking it through.
"Fine. Don't tell me. But answer this. Does Niall know?"
That made me stop. I turn and look at him
"Don't tell him" I say with wide eyes
"Why?" He asked
"Because I don't want him knowing" I say
"Ok lets continue walking. But walk fast and you can start from the beginning"
He pulled my hand to make me walk again.
"What do you mean start from the beginning?" I ask
"Jamie you are a pretty girl and you're skinnier then most, so why the
hell are you running with me at 6 am in the morning when you can sleep 'till 8?"
"I'm not doing it for you" I say in case he thought I was, better get that out of his head.
"I wasn't implying you were" He smiled
"If you say so" I say
"Jamie, is someone pressuring you to lose weight?" he asked quietly after a few minutes of silence
"No" I answer a little too fast.
"Do you even know how much you weigh?"
"No" I say
"Ok look. I know how girls can be self conscious about their bodies and what happens to them" He said stepping in front of me and putting two hands on my shoulders. His eyes cut into mine. What green eyes he has.
"Tell me Jamie" He said again
"Look. I'm not looking to lose weight I'm just looking to keep it as it is." I say looking into his eyes so he can see I'm telling him the truth.
"Ok. Come with me" we started walking back. When we got back to campus we continued walking. He took me to the gym.
"Come here" He said pulling me to a side room. It looked like a nurse's room.
"Take of your shoes and stand on this" He ordered me. I did as I was told. I let Harry weigh me and check my height.
"So you're 5'5 and you weigh 58 that's normal" He smiled at me. "You're just as you should be"
I was looking at him. I am shocked. that's how much I weigh? That is loads
"Can I still run with you in the mornings?" I ask
"If you tell Niall then yeah" He says
"Fine" I say looking at my feet in defeat.
"I will check to see that you told him" Harry looks at me with a serious face.
"I'm not two Harry. I don't have to tell Niall everything, and I don't need his permission" I look up at him annoyed.
"Right but that is the deal. You tell Niall or I don't run with you" He says with hands on hips.
"Fine so don't" I turn and walk away.
"Jamie wait" He calls out to me
"No Harry it's up to me, thanks anyway"
I walk back to my dorm. I take a fast shower and get dressed.
"Good morning" Eleanor is up.
"Good morning, how did you sleep?" I ask her
"Really well. No Louis to kick me in the middle of the night" She laughs
"Get up, I'll make us coffee" I say.
"You're up early again" She says. I ignore her.
Once again we are waiting for the boys down stairs.
"I like this. You waiting for us" Louis smiles
"Hello sunshine" Niall kisses me as I get into the car.
"Hi sweetie." I kiss him back
"Shampoo smell" Liam gets a hold of my hair
"Let go" I smack his hand away.
"We have a free hour at 11" Niall said
"So do I" Eleanor yells out happily
"Well I finish at 11:30, so I'll meet you wherever you are" I say
"Great it's a date" Eleanor beams
I walk out to the grass at 11:30 to find my friends all sitting together.
"Perrie are you skipping classes?" I ask as I reach them. My eyes fall on Harry lying by Niall
"Yes. I need some sun time too" She smiled up.
"Come here" Niall pulls me down to his lap. I sit down between Nialls legs and lay my head back to his shoulder. He wraps his hands round me and kisses my cheek. I take his sunglasses off of his face and put them on mine.
"Thief" He kissed me again
"You love me" I laugh
"I do"
"Ok stop it" Eleanor says
"How was Ariel today?" Perrie asked "Still giving you a hard time?" That got Harry's attention "She gives you a hard time?" He sat up
"No" I said
"Yes, But we can handle her" Eleanor kicks my foot
I can feel Harry looking at me. But Niall was acting like always so I guess Harry hasn't said anything to him.
"So there's this party next Saturday did you see the posters?" Louis asked us
"Yeah my friend is throwing it you should come" Harry lay back down on the grass
"Cool will we get free drinks?" Perrie asked
"Sure" Harry smiled
"Sounds like fun" Niall rested his chin on my shoulder.
"I don't know" I say looking at Eleanor who was looking at me. We both remember the last party we went to.
"Yeah I don't know" she said looking at Niall
"Hey I've learned my lesson" He said
"What is this?" Harry looked up again
"Well, the last party we went to Niall got so drunk we needed to get him back, it was a disaster" I say
"Where were all of you guys?" He asked Liam Zayn and Louis
"They weren't here for some reason. It was only the three of us" Eleanor said
"That was the last time I let anyone but me drive my car" Niall shook his head
"What happened?" Harry look amused.
"Well he couldn't walk so we tried to carry him to the car" I smiled remembering
"You couldn't move your hands for a week after that" Eleanor laughed out loud
"Neither could you" I say
"We made him massage are shoulders and hands for the whole week" Eleanor told Harry
"Did you?" He looked at Niall with raised brows
"I was grateful" he shrugged
"We looked after him very well once we got him back" I laughed
"I was full of bruises" Niall said as to say 'no you didn't'
"Well you were heavy" I turn my head to look at him
"Next time don't drink as much" Louis said
"I remember coming back to find El and Jam sleeping on my bed and a bucket next to Ni's" Liam smiled
"Seems like you guys know how to have fun" Harry smiled making his dimples pop out.
"You have no idea" I say, and Liam Eleanor and I burst out laughing.
"Ni woke up with his face all messed up with makeup" Louis explained to Harry.
"He was so cute passed out like that we had to do it" I say
"We need to go back to class" Zayn said getting up.
"Eww don't feel like going back to class" Eleanor said
"Come on love up you go" Louis gave her a little push.
I got to my feet and helped Niall up. Harry got up and stood next to me.
"Bye guys see you later" I say. Harry waved bye to them as well but stayed in place
"So" He turned to me when they were out of range.
"It's because of Ariel isn't it?" He asked me
I looked at him and started to walk away.
"Come on Jamie, you can tell me" He said
"Tell you what? I don't even know you!" I say
"Yes you do"
"No, not really. I can handle her myself I don't need all of you babying me all the time" I walk faster
"So that's what you think your friends are doing? Babying you? It seems to me they're just looking out for you like you do for them" He caught up to me.
"Harry, just let it go ok?" I stop and look at him.
"I won't" He says looking at me
I give him one last look and walk up the stairs to my flat.
I am so mad and stupid. I should have never gone to Harry for help. He isn't my friend.
I walk to the fridge to find something to eat. But then I remember that 58 number and just take an apple.
58. Wow. Eleanor weighs about 50 and she is taller than me. I need to get that number down fast. I don't have a weight problem or any problem in that matter. I just want to go down to at least a 52 and then I'll be fine.
I sit down by my computer to start with homework. Tomorrow I'll go running again. Maybe I'll look for a pilates class. I bet El and Perrie will come too. I'll tell them about that idea later.
