Ada's Point of View
"So what did you want to talk about?" I sat in my living room with Harry playing Mario Kart. "Are things okay with Sophia?" After two weeks Harry was finally beginning to take Sophia out and I think he was enjoying himself. He still tried to flirt with me occasionally but it didn't really phase sober Ada. We're friends, friends play Mario Kart and hang out.
"We're fine. I'm not sure if she's trying to friend zone me though--we haven't kissed yet."
"Have you tried?" Harry leaned back on the couch as I beat him again.
"Yeah, I tried the first night and then yesterday after music night but no such luck. It's like she doesn't want to kiss me."
"Maybe she just wants to take her time. You know people do wait Harry." I laughed, "You're having a great time right?"
"Yeah, she's great. She's just confusing I guess."
I changed the subject, "Wanna play again?"
He nodded, "Yeah, I'm going to win this time though." I laughed and we played. "What I actually wanted to talk about was my parents though. My mom found out he was cheating on her with one of his students."
"Ouch. That's awful."
"Yeah, he hasn't been staying with us. I'm pretty sure he's been sleeping in his office."
"Good." I paused the game and looked at Harry. "Are you okay though? Seriously, that's a big deal."
"I'm definitely doing better than my mom but Gemma's been really supportive of her. It's weird because it's actually bringing them closer together. It's kinda like how funerals bring people together."
"What a sucky way to rejoin loved ones." I sighed and started the game again. I can tell he just needed to get that out. If he kept at it he'd cry. Or at least form some tears.
"Hey, I was thinking maybe we could go on a double date with you and Niall." I laughed at his proposal.
"No way."
"Why not? I thought you and Sophia are friends."
"We are but I don't do double dates. That's so weird. And Sophia is really nice but the more I hang out with her the more I see how gorgeous she is. It's so annoying; I wish I was that pretty." Harry dropped his controller and seemed mad. "What?"
"You're beautiful Ada." I stopped breathing. He can't say those things. I picked his controller up and handed it to him.
"Do you want anything to eat before we leave? Niall should be here soon to pick us up." I'm actually really excited. We're all going to a movie; our whole entire group. This is going to be crazy.
"I think I'm okay."
"Hey, Sophia is coming tonight, this will be like our double date." I laughed and searched through the pantry for some candy. I really don't want to pay twenty dollars just for sacks.
"Hi Harry, how are you doing?" My mom and dad walked downstairs all dressed up.
"I'm okay, you alright?" He stood up and gave my mom a hug and shook my dad's hand.
"We're great! Tonight we're going salsa dancing!" My mom spun in a circle and dad laughed as he put on his jacket. I could tell Harry looked upset knowing his parents wouldn't be like that ever again.
"Well we're going to a movie soon so you guys should get going before--"
"I didn't know you and Harry were back together!" I was turning into a tomato along with Harry. He tried to laugh it off,
"Oh, no Mrs. Payne. We're going with all of our friends." The doorbell rang.
"See!" I pointed towards the door, "there's Niall now." I grabbed Harry and we ran out the door; both extremely embarrassed.
"You lads okay? You look like you just got out of a haunted house."
"Yeah, I'm just excited to see you." I kissed Niall on the cheek as he opened my door. El was in the back with Oakley, this would be a tight squeeze. "Harry, you sit up front with Niall. I want to talk to El."
We switched spots knowing this seating arrangement would be better.
"Hey guys!" Sophia gave me a hug and then found Harry. He was taking his jacket off and didn't notice her kiss him on the cheek. When she did he looked up and turned right back into the tomato he was earlier. I laughed and linked onto Niall. I tried not to pay attention to Sophia's outfit tonight. Niall thinks I'm beautiful and so does Harry apparently. I mean, I know he thinks that but the way he said it tonight.
"Does everyone have their ticket?" Louis shouted. There was twelve of us which meant mayhem.
Everyone said yes in their own way and we proceeded inside. Niall sat on one side of me and Oakley on the other. Harry sat a row back which I liked. I needed to keep a good distance from him. While I'm sober there really aren't any feelings for me towards him but he likes to push it. I wish he'd just focus all of his attention on Sophia and stop flirting with me.
Harry's Point of View
Sophia looks so good, just like any other night. When she kissed me on the cheek I was pretty surprised but I didn't mind. When we got into the theatre we sat a row behind Niall and Ada. That was probably for the best. Sophia was talking to Perrie and Louis sat next to me.
"Hey Harry!" He whispered with excitement. "I picked a scary one so the girls will hold on to us." I rolled my eyes and chuckled. Louis' so crazy. "Do you wanna come over afterwards? Zayn and Liam are. I still have to ask Niall but I think he will. We're thinking about a new song."
"Yeah?"
"Mhm, it definitely needs some work but if we have you and Niall helping us we should be okay." Sophia took my hand and I looked towards her as the lights dim. I'm still wondering if I like her as much as I wish I did. She's freakin' sexy but she moves around so much. Now I'm just looking for excuses. She's pretty, nice, funny, and smart. Actually I'm not sure if she's smart but she probably is.
The movie began and I could see Niall's hand wrap around Ada. She loves scary movies. I looked at Sophia and followed Niall's moves. When she moved away I looked at her confused. Was she seriously friend zoning me?
"Sorry, I just get uncomfortable in that position. Can you hold my hand?" I tried so hard not to get up and walk out. It seems like everyone else is happy and then I'm here with Sophia who tried not to be all bratty but she is.
"Yeah," I smiled, "sorry."
I can tell the scary parts are coming and I'm still pretty mad about the whole Sophia thing. I can tell she's really into the movie so I decide to take a piece of popcorn and right when the man pulled the girl from under the bed I tossed a piece of popcorn on Ada. I held my breath, trying not to laugh. She turned around and I quickly looked back up at the screen. I could feel her heavy glare and I covered my mouth so no one would notice me laughing.
"Are you okay?" Sophia asked softly.
"Yeah, yeah. It was just really scary." Bullshit. It probably was really scary but dropping popcorn on Ada seemed more fun.
She whispered something into Niall's ear and he kissed her on the cheek before letting her go. I always hate having to get up during movies or football matches. Walking pass people in the rows is the worst. She fell on El and I glued my eyes back onto the screen. I need some fresh air. That's what I'm going to tell myself at least.
"I'll be right back Sophia."
"Okay, hurry! I think something scary is coming up!" I walked away without smiling and go through the other door so Niall didn't see me leave. I don't want him thinking that anything is going on--which it's not.
I sat down on a bench near the bathroom. If Ada sees me then I'll say hi, if not, I'll sit here and sulk about how awful this night is.
"So are you getting more popcorn to throw at me?" I looked up and Ada had her hands on her curvy hips.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I tried not to smile. When she sat next to me I got nervous. I shouldn't be feeling nervous. Whatever, she loves Niall and she wouldn't do anything to ruin that.
"What are you doing out here?"
"Sophia wouldn't let me put my arm around her because she says it makes her uncomfortable in her seat." She laughed,
"It is pretty uncomfortable."
"Yeah?" At least she isn't trying to friend zone me.
"Yeah, but Niall likes to do it so I just suffer through it. Don't take it too harsh Harry; it is pretty uncomfortable."
"Ada, I don't like her. I tried but I just don't." I'm just going to vent now. "She's so nice but what she doesn't realize is she's rude and inconsiderate. She doesn't do it on purpose so I'm not mad at her it's just irritating. She orders expensive drinks and doesn't let me touch her, and she's just really hard to be around when I'll I do is compare her to you." I know I should have cut my sentence off but I really don't care. Ada isn't going to leave Niall.
"Stop Harry! That's not fair to me! If you don't like her then fine. You can't keep saying those things to me though. And you can't keep flirting either! I'm human and they affect me whether I want them to or not. Just go back to hooking up with girls if you prefer but I'm with Niall and you have to get over that. She sighed.
"I'm sorry Harry. I'm not trying to be mean." Ada stood up and began walking back to the movie. I ran after her and grabbed her arm right before she entered.
"Ada please, I'm begging you." She looked angry and confused all at the same time. I let go of her arm, remembering Niall used to hurt her that way.
"What Harry? Why are you trying to ruin this for me?"
"I just, I love--"
"No, don't even." She pushed me back, "Don't you dare say that to me." With no tears she walked back into the theatre, leaving me broken.
