The Bad Boy Effect

Sophia

Ada's Point of View

When classes began again it wasn't like the first day of school. Everyone's all sad and gloomy; break was so much fun and no one wanted it to end. Plus it's even colder and rainier that the beginning.

"Welcome back everyone," Mrs. Collin said in her high pitched voice, "I am just so excited for this second part of the year!" She's way too excited. I love school and I'm not even that happy. I guess ever since Niall came in the picture I don't care for school as much, but still.

"Everyone go ahead and stand up--we're going to try an activity." When we all looked at her like she was crazy she moved her hands up and down, "Up, up, up!" We all slowly stood up from the new desks that were put in over break. They're quite comfy.

"Now this is history," obviously, "so we're going to do a little skit! I have given each of you a different part for the American Revolutionary War. Yes, it is called the American," she emphasized American, "Revolutionary War; however, we played a larger part."

Mrs. Collin continued and gave us different parts. I was a soldier for the Americans which basically mean I had to stand with a whole bunch of other non-interested students behind our "commander-in-chief"; George Washington.

I really can't help but think about break. It was better than I could ever imagine. Things are finally falling into place and I've been talking to Harry like before all of the craziness started.

"Ada." I looked up quickly as I heard my name being called, "it's your turn."

"Oh, uh," I could feel my face turning bright red. Sophia showed me the page we're on quickly and pointed to my part. "we will not surrender." The next person spoke and I took a deep breath. Sophia looked at me and smiled,

"Thank you so much Sophie," I whispered.

"Mhmm!" Why am I not friends with Sophia? She's so nice and I don't know of anyone who has a problem with her. I guess I've always just hung out with Liam's friends and I haven't talked to anyone I used to talk to this year.

"Hey! Sophia!" I said as quietly as I could while running after her in the hall. How the hell did she get out so fast?" She turned around and I almost knocked her over; not expecting her to stop so quickly.

"Uh, hey Ada." She looked confused. Why did she look confused?

"I just wanted to say thanks for helping me out in class."

"Oh it's not problem!" I never noticed how pretty her eyes are. They're just hazel but like an autumn hazel....like leaves that have just fallen off a tree. Okay now I'm being creepy.

"Yeah, well, umm, I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out. I haven't really talked to you much this year." She giggled and looked away almost like she thought I was kidding. "What?"

"Is Ada Payne asking me to hang out?"

"Yes?" I said a bit confused. "What's wrong with that?"

"It's just, I didn't think you hung out with people your age. I'm not trying to be rude but everyone in on our level feels like your a bit stuck up this year." I frowned and my heart hurt. Ouch.

"Oh. I'm sorry, I guess I've just..." My words trailed, that does make sense. "It's nothing against anyone, I've just been hanging out with my brother's friends a lot and--"

"No, it's okay! Really! That came off completely wrong. I would love to hang out with you." She smiled, "Let me have your phone, I'll give you my number."

Sophia typed in her number and handed it back to me with her teal and pink nail polish.

"Cool." The tardy bell rang and we rushed our separate ways to class.

"Sophia said the whole junior class thinks I'm stuck up because I don't talk to any of them." I don't think Oakley understands how bad this hurts me as he laughs,

"It isn't a big deal Ada! Your brother is older and you hang out with them."

"But I ignore everyone else apparently." He put his hand on my shoulder and stopped me as we walked outside of the school,

"You've been through a lot Ada. They don't know the half of your situation with Harry and Niall. It isn't your fault they both are madly in love with you." I sighed and we kept walking to his car.

"Harry isn't in love with me, he's been getting better. I think he's actually been talking to a few girls."

"If you mean banging them then yeah." I turned my head to Oakley quickly, cracking my neck in the process.

"He's what?"

"Ada, you can't care about what he does anymore."

"Oakley. Who has he been 'banging' over break?" Unfortunately it still hurts a little bit. Oaks is right though, I can't care.

"I don't know, just rumors." I felt a raindrop hit my nose and waited for Oakley to unlock his car. "Dammit!"

"What?"

"I forgot my keys in my locker again. I'll be right back!" I saw Harry walking to his car and it began raining harder. "I'll just get a ride from Harry!" Oakley was already half way to the building, oh well.

I ran over to Harry as he unlocked his car. "Harry!" He looked around and caught eyes with me.

"Hey, Ada. Need a ride?"

"Yes please!" I laughed and tried to open the door. He was already inside and thought it would be funny to keep me locked out. "It's not funny Harry! It's going to start pouring!"

"I'm sorry, you're right." He unlocked the door and I threw my book bag in but before I had the chance to even get my foot in he began moving.

"Harry!" He laughed some more as it rained, "I swear I'm going to kill you! I'm tired and it's winter!" I tried not to laugh; it was a little funny.

"Sorry, I don't know what's wrong with my car." I tried to get in again and he moved. I finally stopped moving and crossed my arms as the rain poured over me. "Okay, okay!" He pulled back,

"Thank you." I said sarcastically and he moved one more time. I glared at him. He put on the breaks and covered his eyes,

"Ahh it burns!" I laughed, "Thank god. Your eyes really know how to kill."

"I hope I get your car soaking wet." Harry put his car in park and reached for a towel in the back. I turned away as soon as I saw his bird tattoos.

"Here." He dropped it on my lap and I ran it through my hair. I could see him locking his eyes to the road, trying not to watch. I giggled,

"What?"

"Nothing, you're just a piece of work."

"That's what the ladies say." He said with a flirty tone. I stopped drying my clothes and then tried to continue, hoping he didn't notice my pause. I could feel the tension.

"You can't be mad Ada."

"Huh?"

"You can't be mad when I talk about other girls."

"I'm not mad. Why would I be mad?"

"I don't know, never mind." I dropped the conversation. We have been doing so well, I don't want to argue.

"So how were your classes today?"

"Just the same as last semester. Boring and dull. At least I don't have to try anymore." He chuckled.

"Why's that?"

"Because I'm not trying to impress--" He stopped and I raised my eyebrows. He was blushing.

"Impress?"

"Impress my parents. I'm pretty sure they're getting a divorce."

"What? I'm so sorry! Why are they getting a divorce?" This is definitely none of my business. "I'm sorry it isn't my business."

"I was actually going to talk to you about it but I didn't know if that would be weird."

"No, it's fine." We pulled into my driveway. "Do you want to come in?"

"Will Niall care?"

"No, he won't care. I can call him if you want. He's at work." I laughed, "Niall likes you Harry, he really wouldn't mind." He tapped his finger on the steering wheel.

"Do you work today?"

"No, tomorrow."

"I'll stop by and if you're not busy we can talk. I want a cup of honey tea anyway." We smiled together.

"Stop it!" I yelled. He looked so confused. "Your dimples. I don't know how you don't have a girlfriend--they're killer." He smiled some more. "I may stop by the bakery today. You owe me like five cupcakes for getting me soaked."

I hopped out and he waved. I could live with this relationship. Maybe not as much flirting, but I guess that's just my personality.

Niall's Point of View

Work was fun today. I learned how to work the sound board to perfection and how to clean all of the machines. I got in my car and checked my phone; no messages. I'll just call her.

ding, ding.

Or not.

From: Ada 8:27 pm

Hey, I hung out with Sophia today....pretty sure you don't know her. I kinda wanna set her up with Harry. I'm sending you a picture....tell me what you think.

I laughed and put my phone back in my pocket. Ada's so funny.

ding, ding.

When I got home I opened my phone again. That was another rule of Ada's: do not use the phone while driving.

From: Ada 8:30 pm
picture message.

Wow, she is gorgeous.

From: Ada 8:33 pm
What do you think? She is a part time model....

To: Ada 9:10 pm
How did Harry not notice her before? haha

From: Ada: 9:13 pm
Well that took long enough! Since she models she misses a lot of school and she's my age so he doesn't have classes with her.

To: Ada 9:15 pm
I was driving! And yeah, bring her to music night and to Maggie's this weekend. Is she nice?

From: Ada 9:31 pm
Sorry....shower. SUPER NICE :) I think he'll really like her.

To: Ada 9:33 pm
Okay let's do it! I miss you....and love you lots Ada :)

From Ada 9:34 pm
Love you too <3

I can't believe Harry hasn't seen her yet. I guess he's been so obsessed with Ada he hasn't paid any attention to any other girl. He has been talking about taking a few out to dinner and then snogging them but nothing serious. If he does get with her, I know Ada will make sure he isn't stupid. Especially if she's a nice girl.

Thursday Evening

"Do you see her?" Harry looked pass the curtain.

"Let me see her picture again."

"For god sake Harry, she's sitting with Ada and is wearing the black beanie and red sweater!"

"That's actually burgundy" Louis piped in.

"I can't worry about this right now! We're about to go on!"

The red headed employee; I can't remember his name even though Ada told me a million times introduced us and we performed our new song, Stronger. Like the weeks before, everyone seemed to love it.

"Great job guys!" Liam said in our huddle hug.

We got off of the stage and packed up our stuff. I put my arm around Harry,

"You ready kiddo?"

"Not really." I laughed and we walked over to the beautiful girls.
