Chapter 6 Stealing 1D *Still at the Party*
After introducing my friends to each other Hayleigh, Jenna, Brianna and the cheerleading team headed out to the dance floor leaving the boys, Alexia, Brittany, Kimberly, Catie, and me. “C’mon!” Alexia and Brittany motioned for everyone to get up. “We are going on a field trip!” Alexia shouted. Instantly Louis stood up, so did Harry. Following Alexia and Brittany’s lead, Catie, Kim and I stood up too. “Pwetty Pwease?” Alexia said making a pouty face and using her adorable baby language to get Zayn and Liam up followed by a reluctant-to-leave-this-delicious-food Niall. We followed Alexia to the sand (the workers had set up a temporary kind of stage-ground to keep us up from messing up our shoes or getting hurt) I took my shoes off and stepped into the cool sand. The moonlight made the ocean sparkle. I sat on the edge of the stage ready to lie down and star gaze but Alexia didn’t stop there. Pulling me up from my cozy spot, Alexia led the group to the ocean’s edge. I let the cool water run over my toes. I shivered. It was getting colder. I waded into my ankles letting the water pull me in further. Soon the water was almost up to my knees and I heard shouting coming from shore. I looked back, the rest of the group were still on shore and two figures had joined them. Mom and dad, uh oh. I fast walked to shore minding my dress. But when I got there I realized that the other two people were Kevin and Jocelyn. Having them around would be even worse than getting in trouble by my parents! Both of them hadn’t seen me yet so I hid behind a palm tree. Jocelyn was smiling a sickly sweet grin making her eyes squint up. I wanted to gag but instead I felt my stomach twist into knots as she slid next to Liam getting too close for my comfort. I could barely hold myself back from running at her and tearing her to pieces. I’d never thought I’d feel this way about Liam especially since I didn’t even know who he was until today. She inched closer to him (as if that was possible) and slid her hand into his.
For a moment he looked surprised and then shook her off looking disgusted. Jocelyn stomped away from him looking offended. But then she went and slid her hand into Harry’s. Harry, being the person he is took one look at her and squeezed her hand tight. I could see tears forming in Kim’s eyes.
Right away I stomped up to Jocelyn giving her a glare. She let go of Harry’s hand as Liam’s slid into mine. She took an envious look at it and went and took Niall’s and Zayn’s at the same time. Both of them shook her off. Louis held his hands high up into the air as we watched Jocelyn’s tantrum, she growled at first which turned into a high pitched ugly laugh. “Fine then! Take and keep all of them yourself Maddi!” She yelled “I am so happy for you!” She spat her words dripping with sarcasm. She glared at me and kissed Kevin right in front of me.
A stab of pain hit my chest but I soon got over it as they walked away hand in hand. Liam brushed a stray strand of hair out of my face tucking it back into my ponytail. His features were soft and kind looking even more handsome in the moonlight. Kimberly choked back a sob and everyone stared at her. I led her behind the palm tree to soothe her. “Kim, you know Harry’s single. He wasn’t serious. Would he have caught Jocelyn when she fell embarrassingly into his arms? No.” I said trying to convince Kim and myself that what just happened had no affect on Harry’s feelings for Kim. She wiped away her tears. And nodded. “I’m fine really, just a bit shocked.” She said regaining her composure. British chicks, you got to love’em! We walked back out every one’s eyes on us.
“That was Jocelyn. She’s a bit of a snobby golddigger as you can tell. She’s been really mean to Kim and I lately and Kim started crying because she is just plain mean.” I explained. Harry’s immediate guilt was evident on his face as he shuffled his feet uncomfortably. “Sorry guys.” He said quietly.
“Let’s rejoin the paaaartay!” Alexia shouted. Her voice was like an electric charge as we ran like crazy back to the party. Louis grabbed Alexia’s wrist leading her out to the dance floor. Harry shyly took Kim’s hand and took her out to dance. I sat down next to Liam watching them dance. He took my hand and planted a kiss on top of my head “Did you want anything to drink?” He asked. “Sure, could you grab me a diet coke please?” I said. Liam nodded and headed towards the drink table. I was falling for him, and falling hard.
