To: Prince Charming

Chap. 10

Harry POV

I crawled through the crowd of people aimlessly and not aware to what I was doing to the people in my way. My only destination was she. She looked like an angel with the light illuminating her. The dark purple against her fair skin looked perfect on her and the dress made her look incredible. I couldn't even think of a single adjective that did her justice. Her eyes were framed by a black lacy mask that made her dark brown eyes look even more mysterious and beautiful. As she saw me going through the crowd, I saw her flash me a smile that made my heart thump faster in my chest. I'm pretty sure if she did anything more, I would probably have a heart attack because she was… wow.

I made it to the side of the staircase right when she was fully at the bottom. All the single guys in the ballroom were eager to ask her to dance but I was the one that was going to win. I took a deep breath to let the nerves out and walked up to her.

"Cinderella," I exhaled as she flashed her perfect smile with her bright white teeth towards me.

"Checkered bow, curly hair," she said as she studied me, "Prince Charming."

She made me so nervous and I wanted her to be mine so bad, but I didn't even know who she was. No girl ever made me feel this way. Most girls were all over me; they just wanted to say that Harry Styles kissed them or something. I could have every girl I wanted, but this one was different. She made me want her, like the other girls wanted me. I wanted to kiss her and call her mine, but she was so mysterious and kept me from all of her thoughts. She stood in front of me, as she played with a thin necklace with a black stone pendent on the end. Was she nervous? Nah.

"Do you wanna dance," I said as I pulled my hand through my hair. I was scared to look at her face and just ended up looking at the caramel colored granite tiles underneath me.

Alex POV

"Yes," I replied as confident as I could. I took a quiet breath of relaxation knowing that he at least wanted to dance want to me.

He stuck out his hand and I took it whole-heartedly and followed him to the center of the dance floor. Around us were couples swaying to the beat of the slow music playing from the speakers. Harry looked pretty handsome. His hair was normal, but his tux was made to make him look like one of those Greek gods. He looked strong, masculine, and absolutely stunning. He wore a plaid tie and a brownish tone tux. The fabric was soft against my skin and his cologne smelled like a musky scent but with a little bit of roses. I wanted to be stuck in this one spot forever, dancing with Harry in this one spot with this song frozen in time. I felt his wrap around my waist and begin to sway slowly to the music. I gently placed my head on his hard chest and felt his heartbeat become faster in his chest. Was he nervous? Nah.

Harry POV

After less than 30 seconds of the most perfect dance experience ever, the song changed from a soft, slow music to LMFAO. The dance floor soon went from romantic couple swaying sweetly to the music to crazy teenagers jumping up and down dancing to I'm Sexy and I Know it. I love that song, but it totally ruined the moment between us.

“Hey, do you want to get out of here,” I yelled into her ear over the booming music. Even by yelling into her ear, I wasn’t sure if she heard me. I could feel the beat of the music vibrating in my chest.

“Wait, what,” she yelled in my face.

I was too fed up with loss of our moment and the inability to not talk that I grabbed her soft, warm hands and led her out into the dimly lit, chilly garden outside. She stumbled behind as I pulled her away from the high-beat dance floor and led her into the calm night outside in the garden. I opened the door for her, like a gentleman, and she walked out into the empty garden area. She let go of my hand and looked at me with such a delighted expression.

Alex POV

“This place is beautiful,” I blurted out. The little garden space had a fountain in the center and all of the bushes and flowers were illuminated by strings of lights. At the end of the little area was a cement bench big enough for two. I couldn’t help but find that I had a giant smile on my face. “When did you find it?”

“Well, just now,” he replied as he came up behind me and took my head into his. The night was cold, but his touch made me feel warm. He began to walk on the curvy sandstone path to the edge of the garden. The lights gave me only vague details of his face. His eyes were still covered with the mask.

“Let’s play 20 questions,” he said as gripped my hand tighter and looked into my eyes. I felt him stop walking and attempt to take off my mask. I immeadiatly shied away from his hands. Instead, I peeled his mask off.

“Oh, so I can’t know who you are, but you can,” he huffed and gave me a pouty face.

“I already know who you are and question 1,” I replied cockily as I swung his mask around my finger.

“Are you a fan of One Direction?”

“A closet directioner. Number 2.”

“Would you spend the day shopping or at home doing something useful, like homework?”

“Something useful. I hate shopping. Number 3.”

At this point we were at the cement bench at the edge of the garden. Harry ushered me to sit down, and I sat down next to him. He let go of my hand and looked straight into my eyes.

“Who are you?”

I felt my throat become dry and I could feel my heart beat faster and faster with every second passing. I could feel the cool night air become warm around me; my stomach felt like it was rocket ship read to blow. The sweet, clean scent of the garden made me feel a little more nauseous. Harry slowly made his way closer to me and put his hand on my neck and his fingers slowly inched up to cheeks. His face moved closer and closer, until it was millimeters away.

Suddenly, I heard a xylophone erupting from the hidden pocket in my dress. I remembered I had to go. I quickly pulled away from Harry and got up straightening out the dress.

“I realize this is really bad timing, but I have to go,” I replied as I pulled my phone out and shut the alarm off. I ran into the ballroom and grabbed Katie, who was making out with Liam near the large wooden doors that lead out to the garden. I took a quick look at Harry who looked like he was holding something. I felt an overwhelming feeling of regret.

The two of us got into the car and we raced home, not even looking back. Time to go back to reality, Alex. I’m now longer Cinderella. Get over your self, Harry will forget about me and I’m done.

Harry POV

She left me sitting on the cement bench. I didn’t even have to time to process what was going on to make her stay. I didn’t even chase after her. I looked down to where she was sitting, when I found the black pendent necklace that she was wearing before laying perfectly on the bench. I picked up the cool metal and examined the necklace.

Behind the pendant, on the metal was an engraving.

“When life gets hard, remember that it will get better.” – from Mom.
