Longing for you

Chapter 10

Clarys` POV:

Taylor handed me the bowl with salad as we got everything ready for the barbecue. The boys tried to get along with the grill, while we carried the food out of the kitchen to the big terrace.

“So, you had to move because of your parents job?”, Aimee adressed me and I got nervous since it was the first time she was talking to me directly.

“Yeah, they had to and so did I”, I let out as calm as I could.

“That sucks! I´m really sorry”, her voice was apologizing.

Why did she had to be so nice? Really, it´s so hard to dislike somebody, who has her hair in a perfect ponytail, wore the latest clothes and has the face of a fallen angel. The only reaction I showed was a thankfully smile since I had no idea what to answer.

“Do you have a boyfriend over in Germany, Clary?”, she suddenly asked and I raised my eyebrows since the question was really personal. I didn´t liked to hear my name out of her full lips. Perfect emphasis. Ugh.

“Aimee!”, Taylor blamed her.

“I´m just curious? Is that a crime?”, she tried to defend herself.

“Umm...no. I´m not having a boyfriend in Germany”, I interrupted both of them before the could start to fight.

“Oh, that´s sucks as well”, she said pitying and I turned to the sink to grab the salad fork, while I rolled my eyes.

“I wasn´t sure, if I should tell you, but I figured it won´t hurt anyone I thought I do”, she took a break to take a deep breath: “I think Harry will propose to me!”

I nearly dropped the salad bowl and spread the whole content into the sink. Taylor seemed to be just as speechless as I was.

“Stop to stare at me like that! I know it´s crazy, but I found this little jewelery box the other day in his drawer and I knew instantly what it was!”, she sounded excited and her face was just a big, happy grin.

“But...you only know each other for four months!”, Taylor threw in.

“I know, I know, but we don´t have to marry straight away right? We could take things slow.”

“Take things slow? Probably being engaged after four months is not really taking things slow, don´t you think?”, Taylor raised her eyebrows.

Oh god, I wanted to get out of there. I grabbed some plates to carry them outside and escape the horrible situation. The air felt thick and made it hard for me to breath.

But just as I walked past her she said: “Why not? I mean our sex is great and we love each other!”

The plates fell down to the floor and shattered in deafening noise into million pieces. I starred down at the shards in front of my feet and closed my eyes, while I held on to the table next to me to stop me from shaking.

Oh my god, no. I didn´t wanted to hear those things.

“You´re okay?”, she suddenly stood next to me and grabbed my arm. I knew it should be a friendly gesture, but it just made everything worse.

“Yeah, I´m fine. I´ll fix this mess”, I said and got down to my knees to pick up the pieces of glass to escape her grip.

“Clary, I´ll do that. You don´t have to...”, Taylor said and I breathed out.

“Alright...I think I should take a little rest”, I lied and Taylor joined in to help me: “You probably have a sunstroke.” I nodded and walked over to the living room to sit down on a white, leather sofa.

“You think she´s really okay?”, I heard Aimees´ whisper from the kitchen and cursed the poorly soundproofed walls.

“Yeah, she just has a difficulty with the hot weather”, Taylor answered.

“What should I do?”, her voice was undetermined.

“Huh?”, Taylor was just as confused as I was.

“If he really asks me?” I thought about covering my ears like a little kid, but I wanted to hear Taylors´ answer.

“I don´t know, Aimee. I really have no idea.” I found myself thinking that I hadn´t neither.

Harrys´ POV:

Everybody chatted and the evening air was full of buzzing voices. The only one, who had been really quiet was Clary. She sat at the other end of the table, but every time somebody asked her something she only answered in one or two short sentences.

It was a beautiful summer evening, but I couldn´t enjoyed it completely. Aimees´ hand rested in mine, laying on the table and she happily glanced over at me. I tried my best to smile at her just as joyful back.

“I think it´s time for desert”, Taylor said and Rosy squeezed excited. Gosh, this kid was smart as hell since she seemed to know exactly what that word meant.

Clarys´ laughter reverberated through the air and I realized it had been the first time I heard it at the dinner table. The guy sat next to her and he turned his head as well, which made me groan quietly.

Why did he stared at her like that? His restless hands were way to close to hers and I wondered why he always seemed to calmed down, but his hands were always in a movement.

My thoughts were interrupted as Aimee offered to help Taylor and they both disappeared in the house. The guy, I think his name was Zac, laid over to whisper something into Clarys´ ears and she smiled at his words. My hand turned into a fist and I tried to relax again.

“Look what I found in the kitchen”, Aimee sheered as she sat back on her seat next to me.

“What is it`?”, I asked and glanced at the book in her hands. Not just only a book. A picture book.

“It´s from your senior year, guys”, she let us know and I took to long to realize, what her words meant. Before I was able to manage to take it away from her, she was at the end. I inhaled sharply as I saw a spot of emerald green material.

“Was that your prom night?”, she asked interested and took a closer look at the pics. The first ones were unloaded, but as she turned the page I saw it. The picture, I knew to well. Aimee needed some more seconds to realize.

“Oh, you two went together?”, she asked surprised and glanced over at Clary at the other end of the table. I could tell her face was a big question and she still had no clue, what was laying in front of me.

“Aimee, we...”, I started as she looked at the photo again.

“You two...went together like in...together?”, I knew she had figured the things out.

“Aimee, we kind of...we just had this thing...”, I stumbled like an idiot.

“A thing?”, her voice got up and sounded brash.

“Like...seeing each other.” Not the right words, Harry. Her eyes starred back at Clary and I could she was sending death glares. Clarys´ face went pale and she looked like she would fall of her chair any minute. She opened her mouth, but no words came out.

“Oh my god. You two...?”, Aimee still seemed to process and I felt the silence, which surrounded us.

“Excuse me...”, I heard Clarys´ voice and then her chair that tugged over the floor. What have I done?

I finally caught up. I 'm glad Harry and Clary confessed about the kiss. I never saw Harry and Zayn partnering up coming. Great chapters as usual.
