“Hayes I don’t need lies, I need the truth. If you aren’t going to tell me, I will found someone who will.”

“Lia what you don’t understand is what you don’t know is what keeps you safe. It’s better you don’t know about any of this. Being locked up in there was torture yes, but I found out more than I ever needed, and my main priority is getting Rose back.” My blood ran cold, and the sound of her name, but I knew that Hayes and I were talking two different Rose’s.

“YOU’VE NEVER TOLD ME ANYTHING. The only thing I know of is the serum, that you’re speaking of a different Rose, and minor gang affiliation from this girl Scarlett.”

“Scarlett? She’s still alive? I’ll tell Sergio to find her, we must speak. And Lia although for an odd reason you trust me after all you know this is something way over your head. I would hate to see you end up caught in all this. I warned you that this was not something that you were well suited in, and now you’ve just tasted not even a tablespoon of it. I need to know that we’re in this together, and that you’ll be understanding of everything…if I tell you.”

“If I trust you, I trust that you would trust me enough to keep your secrets. For pete’s sake I pointed a gun at Harry, and I wasn’t afraid to shoot, what makes you think I’m worried about the aftermath. I have nothing left, and if this involves my company, along with my family, I will fight to the very end. I suggest you tell me.” I glared Hayes down as I spoke, but I knew he finally gave in when he huffed out.

“Rose was the love of my life. I-I thought she was dead, but it turns out she was alive all this time, with fucking Jagger. I should’ve known that you can’t just take a girl and disappear, but I was stupid then. Jagger and I had hated each other as kids. He sided with my father, and I sided with my mum. So, when my father killed her, I saw no mercy in forgiving the monster. Yet Jagger saw the good in him, claimed it wasn’t his fault, and claimed it was all under the influence. That my poor mum had brought it on herself. So I never forgave him…Lets leave out the teenage years. When I was 22 I was hired by your father for experimental drugs. Not really specified on what for, but the serum did wonders. It erased memories, cloned cells, and basically controlled your body. Of course, we weren’t sure if it was complete. The serum obviously works, but there are things that can dismantle it, and it just needs tweaking before it’s perfect, but that’s beside the point. As I worked alongside Paul, I soon found he was in cahoots with my brother, unknowingly of course. My brother had conned your father, he loaned him money, and once the company was set, your father was in his debt. No money could pay it off…just blood. It didn’t quite settle with me at first, I was confused, but then I saw how conniving he was, and how he sabotaged your entire company. Then Harry showed up, and he was cold, and heartless. So I used it, I made him weasel information out, yet somehow he was snatched up by Jagger, and the next thing I knew my beloved Rose was claimed to be killed. He tossed me the necklace I gave her, marked in blood, and went on his way. So I went with my plan, I hired Blake, and he fell for you, as you fell for him. He got his way through to your father, and that’s how that situation with your first serum injection went. I know you must hate me, but you’re whole family would’ve been dead if your father kept his ties with Jagger. Jagger didn’t want money back, he just wanted the company, he wanted the serum, the name. So when your father’s body was found. Jagger had no way of taking the company. Everything was left in your name. Not your mothers or anyone else. And for months I had assumed scaring you off would help you stray away from that monster Harry, but you kept running into his arms. I don’t know if what he feels is real, but he did make quite an effort to track me down. He was distraught, but I don’t know if it was an act. All I knew was that he still kept ties with Jagger, and having you and your company jeopardized was not what I wanted. I loved your father, he treated me like a son, and I would stand for his company till the end. That’s exactly what I’m doing now. It’s just hard. I don’t know where Jagger is, I don’t know where Scarlett it. All I know is Jagger needs to be killed. Once Jagger is killed, you’ll find your answer. If he truly loves you he won’t care if Jagger is dead, he’ll only care if you’re okay. And if you don’t believe me, I understand, but I have nothing to live for. I don’t see why I would lie to you on something that I literally revolved my life around…..I don’t know how we’ll do it…or who will do it. Blake has a family, I’d hate to burden him when he has a family behind him, and I don’t have the connections I once did. I don’t know what to do…all I have is Sharon. Sharon is like my rose, but she’s Jagger’s. It’s my only scapegoat, and I’m not ready to use her yet. All I want is my life back, and my sweet Rose in my arms. If you help me, I’ll find anything you want out, I’ll help the company, I’ll forever be in your debt, just please tell me you believe me and will be by my side. I just need someone to believe me for once.” He hung his head low, and I just stood there. Mouth agape, what the hell was I to say to him. Sure, I believed him. It was the first time I had ever gotten a confession out of Hayes, yet never would I have suspected for him to tell me everything. It was confusing, but I needed the answer. I was willing to help him, in any way possible, and I knew that deep inside, if I did, and we won. I would find the truth. I would know if everything in the past few years was a lie, and I would be able to move on if it were.

“I’ll help, as long as you train me. Train me to be the best.”

“We must find Scarlett then, she’s the best. And she’ll be the only one who can train you. Funny isn’t it, she wasn’t very liked in high school. But we’ll find her, and once your trained…. the war will begin.”

“Thank you.” I blurt out.

“For?”

“Finally opening up to me.”
