Crossing Paths
Chapter 12
Lily`s POV:
I waited excited but also nervous for the arrival of Juliet. After we met yesterday at the coffee, Zayn arranged for us a meeting. Zayn had been so great to me, after we were alone again we went through the next park and he was holding my hand the whole time because I was freezing.
It felt so good like we would never do anything else. Sadly he hadn`t time to stay very long so he brought me back to his house where my car was still standing. For goodbye he kissed me on my cheek and I couldn`t hold myself from smiling.
Even when he didn`t feel good letting me drive my car, I insisted on driving home by myself because I knew he had to go somewhere important. In the evening he had called me to tell me that Juliet wanted to meet me the next day, even when I was sure that it were Zayn and Harry making her to do this.
Zayn and Harry should also come so that it wouldn`t be embarrassing when we didn`t know what to talk about. It didn`t take long to see them coming into the coffee. It actually was Harry`s idea to come here because we were all addicted to caffeine and I was grateful for it. The first thing I knew that Juliet and me had in common.
They came over and sat next to me around the table. “How long have you already been here?” That is the first normal thing I have heard Juliet say. “Just a few minutes, not long.” Juliet smiled but still looked suspicious.
“Lets order some coffee.” It didn`t take long to get it but it was kind of weird sitting there with nothing to talk about. Finally Harry was the one to break the silence. “So how was your old school? Don`t you miss your friends?”
Luckily he didn`t asked again why I had to change school. “Oh it was okay, not really special. When I want to I can still meet my old friends but we kind of drifted apart.” Now Juliet was curious. “And how is your mum, I mean I know it must have been hard for you.”
She seemed a little guilty even when I couldn`t understand why. “It was but my mum is so great. I love her more then anyone else. She is the most caring person I know, I have no idea what I would do without her.” Juliet seemed surprise.
“I am happy for you having a so great mum.” I smiled sadly, she didn`t know about my mum and how hard it really was. How could she when she had always lived in an almost perfect family? We went on talking about our families and our earlier life.
She told me how they (Juliet, Zayn and Harry) got to know each other and why she was called sky. We all had to laugh and for the first time near her I could relax. She wasn`t how I thought she would be, actually she was really nice but I couldn`t admit it earlier.
They told me about all they went through together and I already felt like a part of it. We had so much fun that I almost forgot the time. When my mobile phone rang I was surprised that we were already talking for over one and a half hour. “Hello this is Lily.”
When I heard the voice at the other side starting to talk about my mum I was surprised first. But when I realized that it was Simon, Juliet`s father, our father, telling me that there was something wrong with my mum I was so shocked that I couldn`t answer.
“Hey whats wrong?” That was Zayn looking worried. I just shook my had and listened what Simon said. I hung up and made myself ready. “I need to go to the hospital.” All the time I knew that this would happen but I wasn`t ready, not now. I just met my sister and I needed my mum to talk about this all,Icouldn`t let her go. I didn`t wanted to let her go it wasn`t fair.
“We come with you.” I was glad about Juliet`s offer because I didn`t feel like making it to the hospital on my own. Harry paid for us all than we left. I started shaking and grateful I noticed Zayn on my left side talking my hand and Juliet on the other side.
Even when we didn`t know much about each other and we didn`t like each other first it kind of felt good having a sister next to me. It didn`t mattered that I only knew her since a few days because now I needed her. I needed her to be my family and I needed her to be there for me.
I saw her smiling at me and this time it felt real. We got into Harry`s car and went there all togehter. I sat next to Zayn in the back, he put his arm around me and I leant against him. I felt my tears running over my face.
That was the first time somebody was worth my tears. Even when I had to say goodbye to my mum the knowledge of it made it better and this great guy next to me who stroke my hair and told me that everything was going to be fine.
At that moment I believed it, I believed that everything was going to be fine.
