Beautiful Mistake

Fourteen

“Lexi, are you still here?” Felicia shouted as she entered their flat.
“Obviously. I don’t leave until the morning,” Alexis laughed, pulling more clothes out of her closet.
“Are you moving to LA or something?” Felicia joked, lifting a handful of the clothing in the suitcase.
“I need to make sure I have options. I finally decided on my VMA outfit,” Alexis gushed, rubbing her hands together. Felicia began to unpack Alexis’ suitcase, tossing the articles of clothing over her shoulders. “What the hell are you doing?” She sighed, picking up her scattered clothes.
Felicia climbed into the now empty suitcase, trying to enclose herself inside. “I’m the only item you need. Why do you even need clothes? You’ll just be fucking Harry the whole time anyway. If it came down to it, you could wear his clothes OR he could buy you new clothes. Keep in mind what I like as well,” Felicia beamed, pulling herself back out of the suitcase.
“I won’t be fucking Harry while I’m out there. I have-”
“So you’ll be fucking Niall then?” Felicia cut Alexis off before she had a chance to finish her sentence.
“I’m not fucking anyone!” Alexis threw her clothes back into her bag.
“If a hot member of a boy band bought me a plane ticket to LA to watch him perform at the VMAs then I would fuck him. I’d fuck him even if he didn’t do that,” Felicia shrugged, playing with the clutch that sat on the bed.
“We’ll see what happens,” Alexis mumbled, refolding her clothes. “Don’t you think it’s still too soon?”
“No, it should have happened ten minutes ago,” the younger girl spoke, throwing down the clutch.
“Well that’s impossible since he’s in LA,” Alexis smirked, shoving her folded clothes into her suitcase.
“Okay, enough about you having sex with Harry.”
“Lets talk about you and Zayn,” a grin grew on Alexis’ face as she plopped on the bed next to her friend. Felicia’s face dropped at the mention of his name. “You still haven’t talked?” she questioned Felicia.
She shook her head in return, “Not since he kissed me. I mean there was the birthday video.”
“But that doesn’t count,” Alexis sighed, turning to face the girl. “Here’s what you do, while I’m in LA, you go find a fuck buddy and that will solve all of your problems. I’ve had enough boy talk for tonight. Lets watch Misfits and eat our weight in food.” Felicia grinned at her friend’s words, grabbing her hand and pulling her downstairs.

“My heart may be missing but my hands will make up for it. Don’t think this is innocent, I’ll sink my teeth right into it. My eyes and my mouth agree you’ll be coming home with me, ‘Cause girl you know, ‘cause girl you know, I’m an animaaal…” The sound of Alexis’ alarm filled her room, causing her to awake from her deep slumber. She rolled around in her oversized bed in search of her phone.
“There’s no way it’s already six,” Alexis groaned, kicking off the covers and dragging her lazy body to the shower.

She got dressed in a timely manor, quickly giving up on her make up and planning to finish before the plane would land. After tossing her damp hair into a messy bun, Alexis hauled her bulky suitcase down the stairs where the cab was waiting to take her to the airport. She handed it off to the driver and told him she would be ready to go in a minute.
The anxious girl darted back upstairs, grabbing her purse and rushing into Felicia’s bedroom. The sound of the sleeping girl’s light breathing filled the room. Alexis’ hand hovered over Felicia’s relaxed face before they met with a smack. Alexis ran back downstairs before she could suffer the consequences. “Bye! I love you! See you next week!” The hysterical girl shouted to a now angry Felicia as she skipped out to the awaiting cab.

The moment Alexis stepped off of the airplane and into the terminal, she hustled her way to the baggage claim, not wanting to waste any time she had in America. Grabbing her bag as soon as she saw it, Alexis pulled out her phone to call Harry, realizing she had no idea where she was staying. Before she had a chance to dial the boy’s number, the girl’s phone was bombarded with thousands of texts, tweets, and notifications from her best friend back in the UK.

@felicia_carmela: @loversoify you’re a bitch for waking me up and then leaving me.
@felicia_carmela: my bb @loversoify left me and I don’t know what to do w/ myself SOS
@felicia_carmela: this is an I miss @loversoify already tweet
Felicia: bitch come here. I need someone to cook me food. Help I can’t live on my own. I’m not good by myself. Get your ass back here.
Felicia: I’m being serious.

The texts and notifications continued to pour in, and the poor girl couldn’t do anything on her phone while they kept popping up. Sighing, Alexis took a seat so she could wait to find out where she would be staying. A sign with the name Wild Billy Goat a picture of a golf cart caught the girl’s attention and she made her way to the man with the sign.

“Are you Miss Alexis?” The man asked as Alexis cautiously approached him.
“My name is Alexis so I guess that’s me,” Alexis replied with a hint of hesitation in her voice.
“I have been sent to take you to your hotel by direction of Mr. Styles. Are you ready to go?”
“Yeah, sure.”

Alexis gasped at the sight of the hotel as the driver slowly pulled along side of the curb. A massive crowd of screaming girls covered the entrance of The W Hotel where Alexis would be staying, along with the boy band, while in town.

“We can try to get you in through the back if you’d feel more comfortable,” the driver spoke, noticing the girl’s almost petrified expression. She shook her head in return as half of the crowd gathered around the parked car.
“Now what?” Alexis asked quietly, staring at the screeching fans trying to get a glimpse into the car. The fans were pushed away from the car by a guy with arms like a professional body builder would have. Two others joined him, one grabbing the girl’s suitcase out of the trunk, while the other guided her out of the car and through the slender path.

Alexis let out a sigh of relief once the hotel doors swung closed behind them. “I don’t know how you do this on a daily basis but thank you,” she smiled at the overly buff security. As she grabbed her suitcase and began wheeling it over to the elevator, she came to a stop and quickly turned around on her heels. “Does anyone have a clue where I’m supposed to be going?” Alexis awkwardly laughed, chewing on the inside of her bottom lip.
“14th floor, rooms 1440, 1441, 1442, and 1443,” the smallest security guard spoke, walking back over to the crowded doors.
“Ah thank you so much,” Alexis politely smiled before gliding onto the elevator.
“36, 37, 38, 39…” The struggling girl read out the door numbers until she reached her destination. She looked at the four doors security had directed her to. “Shit..” She mumbled to herself as her eyes bounced between the doors. Alexis took a step towards 1440, as her fist met the door, the door to 1442 began to open. She froze, waiting for a boy band member to appear from the room.
Alexis took a step back to get a glimpse of the person. The door swung all the way open before Danielle stepped out with a blow dryer in hand. The nervous girl sighed with relief, “Thank god.”
“Finally!” Danielle smiled, pulling Lexi into a hug. “We thought you’d never show up. Liam said your flight came in at 12.”
“12:50 but I landed at 1,” Alexis replied, hoisting her falling bag back onto her shoulder. “Do you know where I’ll be staying?” She asked shyly.
“Probably there,” Danielle pointed across the hall to room 1443, meaning it was most likely Harry’s room; Alexis blushed as Danielle winked at the American girl. “El and I are getting ready if you want to join us.”
“Uh yeah, that’d be fun,” Alexis nodded in return, following Danielle through the door she just knocked on. “Where is everyone?” She observed the messy room full of scattered clothing.
“Lou is getting the lads ready across the hall. Don’t mind that mess,” Danielle laughed, tossing her belonging on top of her suitcase. “We’re still unsure of what we’re wearing.”
“Don’t worry about it. Mine and Felicia’s rooms aren’t any better.”
“Speaking of Felicia, she couldn’t come?” Danielle asked, slipping the blow dryer into the bathroom where a, ‘thank you’ emerged as the door closed. “You’re welcome.”
“Since she didn’t get into Uni, she decided to get a second job so she couldn’t call out of both of them,” Alexis shrugged, laying her suitcase on the ground and searching for her outfit of choice for the night.

“Ceeeeelebrate good times, come on!” The thrilled boy band sang as they entered the limo with the three awaiting girls. The excited girls congratulated them again as the British boys continued to shout about how they couldn’t believe their wins of the night.
“Lads, where are we going to celebrate?” Louis asked with his arm around Eleanor.
“The Lounge?” Zayn suggested, turning to Harry who had his hand on Alexis’ partially exposed thigh.
“Hudson? Barney’s?” Niall added with a shrug.
“Both places that only Danielle can get into,” Alexis pointed out, causing Louis and Zayn to laugh. “How is that funny?” The American girl mumbled to herself as everyone continued to discuss the possibilities of tonight.
“Most places don’t care about our age,” Harry explained quietly, facing the girl. “Some think a popular boy band will help with sales,” he shrugged.

The group arrived back at the crowd less hotel, all piling into the cramped elevator. They split up into their respectable rooms to change for the evening. Since the rooms were already sorted before Alexis arrived, she was stuck with Zayn for the next two days unless Niall, who was sharing a room with Harry, was nice enough to trade with her.
“Sorry you’re stuck with me,” Zayn apologized while pulling his change of clothes out of his open suitcase.
“It could be worse,” Alexis shrugged, shedding out of her jewelery.
“How so?” He questioned, changing out of his shirt that was worn to the VMAs.
“I could be stuck with El-sorry, that was uncalled for,” the girl shook her head, sliding off her heels.
“It’s okay. It’s painfully obvious that Felicia doesn’t like her, I don’t really get it,” he picked up his jeans and jacket, walking over to the door.
“It’s not that I don’t like-”
“You don’t need to explain yourself. I’ll let you have the room to get changed.” Zayn was gone before Alexis could respond.
“Whatever,” the girl rolled her eyes, turning to her suitcase. She began to pull out her well hidden outfit along with her laptop, tossing them on her bed.
A knock interrupted Alexis’ train of thought causing her to slightly panic. “Who is it?” She called out, grabbing a mini pretzel snack pack the hotel provided.
“Niall!” The Irish lad called back. Alexis began to nervously eat the pretzels, opening the door to reveal the bleached blonde. “Everyone’s heading to NineThirty, you coming?” He questioned, gazing around the room then to Alexis’ hands that held the salty snacks.
“I’m not actually that hungry, nor am I into fancy eating,” Alexis laughed. “Plus I promised Felicia I would call her after the show.”
“Alright, well if you get hungry, which I know you will, you know where to find us,” Niall nodded before making his exit.

Alexis sat down on her bed and logged onto her computer as fast as she could. The girl was too excited from the day’s events that she had to tell her best friend everything that happened. Logging onto Skype, Alexis took a handful of the mini pretzels from the bag she had in her hands before inviting her best friend to video chat. Soon enough, a sleepy Felicia appeared on the computer screen, signaling that she had just woken up from a nap or some type of slumber.

“HIIII!!!!!” Alexis practically shouted at her friend, noticing a slight cringe come from the younger girl.
“Do you have any idea what time it is here?” Felicia groaned, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
“Too lazy to figure it out but I have shit to tell you,” Alexis said to her friend before going into detail what happened up to and during the VMAs. While she was speaking, Alexis grabbed the clothing she had placed on her bed prior to getting online and began to change.
“Wait, hold up. Why are you changing into camo? And is that black face paint I see on the table?” Felicia asked her friend with a puzzled look appearing on her face.
“I’ve got some stalking and investigating to do,” Alexis replied. “Don’t worry about it. Yet.”
As Alexis finished getting ready, the two girls spoke of Felicia’s day and of all the “asshats” and “dickheads” she had to deal with at Walkabout today as well as the idiots who tried hitting on her.
“Sounds like total shit. I mean, you could have flirted and gotten some numbers and gotten some action,” Lexi smirked at the girl on the other side of the computer screen.
“You know I can’t do that. I still have hope,” Felicia whispered the last part, knowing how her best friend felt about the situation Felicia was currently in.
“Whatever. Hey, I’ve got to go. Duty calls. Luv ya bb,” Alexis shouted, waiting for a goodbye from Felicia before hanging up and shutting down her computer.

Alexis sneakily made her way out of the hotel unseen, searching the premises for the British boy with skunk-like hair. With no luck, she decided to circle the block on foot until she came up with a better plan. The short walk was unsuccessful and disappointing, causing frustration to take over the girl. Alexis huffed, plopping down on the stairs leading to the entrance of the hotel.

“When do you go back?” She overheard a feminine voice question with a British accent. Alexis’ head snapped around looking for the source.
“Few days.”

She gasped hearing the voice of the responder. The girl quickly stood from the stairs and pounced behind the nearest bush. The talking picked back up, but to Alexis, it was all mumbled British accents. She chewed on her bottom lip, tip toeing behind the bushes to get a glimpse of the mysterious girl Zayn was chatting with.

“No fucking way!” The hidden girl voiced to herself quietly, grabbing ahold of a branch out of anger.
“What are you doing out here?” A hot breathe hit Alexis’ exposed ear, startling the poor girl. “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you,” Niall laughed, covering his mouth attempting to hide the escaping laughs.
“You nearly gave me a heart attack,” Alexis placed her hand over her heart, taking in a deep breathe.
“Why are you in a bush?” He whispered secretly, peaking over the bush to get a glance of whatever caught the girl’s eye. Her eyes shot to where Zayn was perviously standing, relief washing over her face when she noticed he was long gone before Niall could see.
“Oh you know, just surveying the bushes, making sure it’s safe incase there’s a fire,” she quickly answered the boy who began to laugh again. “Don’t laugh at me. If I have to jump from my window, this is the bush that will break my fall.”
Niall shook his head at Alexis’ words. “Did this bush surveying make you hungry yet?” He questioned, standing from his crouched position. She nodded in return as her stomach did the talking, rising from the ground. “They just served the food upstairs,” he began but shortly paused noticing Lexi’s scrunched up face while she slightly shook her head. “Oh right, fancy eating. Uh we could go to In-N-Out,” Niall suggested with a shrug.
Alexis nodded frantically with bug eyes. “I haven’t had In-N-Out in over a year. I’m wanna be a fat American while I’m here.”
“There’s one less then ten blocks away, if you don’t mind walking with me,” he flashed a hopeful smile at the girl who was already making her way down the stairs, more than ready to go.
“We’re not going to get mobbed, are we?” Alexis asked nervously as the duo strolled down the empty sidewalk.
“We might but it’s not likely. It it came down to it then we’d run,” Niall slid his hands down into his pant pockets.
“I don’t have to run, I mean, have you seen these guns?” She held up her arms, flexing. Niall pulled a hand out of his pocket and squeezed Alexis’ bicep, laughing at the muscle-less arm.
“You could protect us both then.”
“I don’t know. It depends on the size of the mob. I could always throw you over my shoulder and run with you,” Alexis reckoned, flashing a smile in his direction.
“Like this?” Niall quickly swooped up the laughing girl before she could fight him off.
“Oh my god!” She grabbed her falling beanie as she hung upside down over the Irish boys shoulder. “Don’t you dare drop me!” She demanded as he jogged down the block roaring with laughter.

“How do they always know where you’re staying?” Alexis asked Niall noticing the crowd growing outside the hotel as they strolled towards it.
“That’s the power of the internet. One person finds out and it spreads like a virus.” Screaming increased as fans began to spot Niall coming towards the hotel.
“That’s my queue to go inside. I’ll see you in the morning.” The two exchanged a tight bear hug before Niall walked towards the fans and Alexis entered the hotel, going back to her room.
“You’ve been gone awhile,” Zayn stated as Alexis stiffed through her suitcase.
“You’ve been waiting here the whole time?” She questioned with furrowed eyebrows, taking her change of clothing into the bathroom with her.
“No but I’m assuming you’ve been gone since I left,” he shrugged, leaning up on his forearm from his bed.
“You assumed correctly,” Alexis closed the bathroom door behind her, ignoring Zayn’s conversation starter.
With her toothbrush in her mouth, Alexis emerged from the bathroom carrying her previous outfit to shove into her open suitcase.
“You wanna watch a film?” Zayn asked, flipping through movies on demand, briefly reading the description provided. The tired girl shook her head in return, turning back to the bathroom to rinse her toothbrush and wash her face. Alexis strolled over to her awaiting oversized bed, pulling back the blankets and crawling to the center.

The two laid in silence as the closing credits from Men in Black 3 was the only thing lighting the room. Zayn reached for the remote, starting yet another movie, The Avengers. Not even halfway through, faint snoring came from the boy’s side of the room causing Alexis to pull herself from her bed, taking the remote from Zayn’s loose grip before climbing back into her bed. She clicked off the television and turned onto her side in hopes of getting some sleep with Zayn’s snoring. Alexis huffed, pulling her extra pillow over her head but the snoring seemed to just get louder. Annoyed, she tossed her pillowing at the sleeping boy, causing muffled talking to escape his mouth. She quickly covered her mouth to prevent the laughter from filling the quiet room.

A light tap on the door, followed by whispering, interrupted Alexis’ fun and causing her to climb back out of bed. She peeked around the partially opened door to be brought to a mop of curls and glassy green orbs. “What are you doing up?” She whispered to the smirking boy.
“We were out celebrating,” Harry responded, sliding passed Alexis and bouncing onto the bed. “Where were you all night?” She placed a finger over her pursed lips, directing Harry to stay quiet before pointing over to the still sleeping Zayn.
“I went exploring and enjoyed being a fat American with Niall,” she laughed to herself, climbing back into her warm spot on the bed.
“I missed you today,” he sighed, pulling his body closer to the chilly girl.
“I missed you too. As much as I wanted to celebrate with you, fancy isn’t my thing but I’m glad you had fun,” Alexis smiled down at Harry who was still laying along side of her.
“It’s alright, love. The nights still not over,” he grinned, glancing at her with pursed lips as his fingers trailed up her thigh; her lips met his awaiting ones.

The kiss quickly became heated with neither of them stopping until the bright light from the television filled the room. Alexis glanced over at the other bed to see Zayn wide awake, waiting for some sort of communication.

“You turned off my movie before I could finish,” Zayn uttered, turning up the volume. The annoyed girl let out a sigh, rolling off of Harry and laying along side of him. He wrapped his arm around her, pulling her body against his, snickering.
“What’s so funny?” She questioned, lifting her head to observe the boy practically bursting with laughter.
Harry shrugged in return with a smile, meeting Alexis’ eyes. “You’re cute when you’re angry.” The American girl blushed, resting her head on the English boy’s bare chest, both slowly beginning to doze off into a peaceful slumber.
