Chapter 9
Niall's POV:
Zayn and I stood on opposite sides of the kitchen, each looking in opposite directions.
"I'm sorry," Zayn said finally. I looked up.
"I just don't know what's up with you lately. You used to be so carefree and all of a sudden you have a child? And a missing girlfriend? Where did this even come from?" He continued.
"It's a long story," I said dryly.
"You don't say," he said, raising his eyebrows.
There was another pause.
"No offense mate but I thought you were a virgin," Zayn said finally.
I laughed and the tension eased.
"I'm really sorry," Zayn said again.
"It's fine," I said. "Everyone's under a lot of pressure lately. So much has changed."
"What I don't get," Zayn said finally, "is why the baby was born in England. The desk lady said she was born in a hospital about five miles from here. Why would this Essence girl come all the way from Ireland to have a baby here?"
"Dunno," I said. That was weird.
There was another pause.
"I need to go home," I said abruptly.
"Okay," Zayn said. "See ya."
"No... no you don't get it," I whispered. "I need to go back to Ireland."
Flashback: (Niall's POV)
She was laughing.
"You just kicked sand down my pants!" I said laughing.
She laughed and ran up to me, wrapping her arms around me and kissing me full on the mouth. She pulled away a few moments later, smiling.
"Forgive me?" She said smiling.
I laughed. "Fine."
The ocean was shimmering next to us. It was so beautiful, with the sunlight dancing on the waves.
"I never want to leave," she sighed, leaning in to me.
I rested my chin on top of her head, and she laughed. "Your too tall," she whispered.
I smiled. "Your too short," I whispered back.
She pulled away and turned to kiss me again. My lips felt aflame.
"Come on!" she said laughing, pulled my hand and running along the beach. "Race you!"
I smiled, remembering when we used to race to school in elementary school.
I ran after her, outrunning her easily. She ran up behind me and jumped on my back, wrapping her arms around my neck and her legs around my waist.
I laughed and slowed to a walk.
"I love it here," she said, staring out into the ocean. "Your going to stay in Ireland right?"
"Yes," I said smiling.
"Me too," she whispered. "It's the best place in the world."
Zayn's POV:
"What the hell, man?" I said, string at Niall. "Why?"
"I know she's there," he insisted, seeming to come out of a trance. "I know Essy's there."
"Niall we are talking about a girl that went missing five years ago! How on earth do you expect to find her in a whole country?"
"I have to go!" He hissed. "I-"
The front door opened. Perrie was back.
We walked out to the entryway.
"Niall, I brought something for you," she said.
She stepped aside.
"WHAT THE HELL, PERRIE?"
