Espy
Chapter 15
Niall's POV:
I staggered.
"What?"
Perrie had begun to sob uncontrollably. Zayn reached over and scooped her up in his arms, placing her in his lap. She sobbed into his shoulder while her rubbed her back gently, his own eyes brimming with tears.
"Since when?" I asked, feeling my own throat go tight. First Essy. Now Eleanor.
"Louis just found out for sure this morning," Zayn said quietly over Perrie's violent sobs. "Apparently they got into a little spat, nothing huge at all though, and then they stopped talking for a couple days. He tried to call her and email her but she didn't reply. He thought she was really pissed off so he brought roses to her apartment, and she wasn't there. So he waited, but she never came back. He called her work, and they said she hadn't come in four three days, and hadn't called in sick either. He phoned her parents, they hadn't heard a thing. So her parents contacted the police."
I shook my head. There was no way. There had to be a mistake.
"And they searched the apartment, and sent out missing signs. No one can find her. Whoever kidnapped her must do it a lot because they didn't leave a trace," he whispered. Perrie sobbed even harder and he kissed her head, gently rocking her back and fourth as she continued to sob into his shoulder.
I stared at the floor. "What are we going to do?" I finally asked, looking up with watery eyes. "Two women are missing, and we have no idea where the hell they are. They could be anywhere in the world."
Zayn sighed. "I have no idea."
Eleanor's POV:
I'd been locked up in the basement with Essence for a week now. It wasn't as bad as I thought. For now at least. If Essence hadn't been there to calm me down though... well it would be a lot worse.
He threw in a sack of food and water every morning, that had to last for the day. It definitely wasn't a lot, probably just barely enough for one meal, but it was better than nothing. There was curtained off area with a bathroom. And he left us alone for ninety percent of the day, to mill around in the chamber we were forever doomed to live in.
I was really grateful I had Essy though. She was an inexplainable comfort to me. The room was so dark and closed in, I think without her I would have gone crazy already.
The only bad part was the nights. Every night he'd come down with his needles and put us under. And we'd wake up naked and abused every morning. The shots hurt a lot, and when you passed out it was the worst feeling in the world. Waking up in the morning was even worse. Your whole bottom half was sore and you were covered in cuts and bruises. He didn't just rape you, he beat all his anger out into your helpless form.
At least I wasn't dead. Although sometimes I wished I was. Essy told me as long as I didn't fight he wouldn't kill me. And she said since I was so pretty he'd keep me around.
I just wished I could go home. Louis... ugh. We'd gotten into a fight and I'd never had the chance to say I was sorry before...
And no one would ever find me.
I sighed and looked up from the couch, where I'd been sitting staring at my hand. Essy was stretched out on the floor staring at the ceiling.
"How did you survive six years of this?" I whispered finally. "All alone?"
"I wasn't alone," she whispered, not looking away from her spot on the ceiling. "He'd brings in lots of girls, from all over the world. He has sources who enjoy the thrill of the kidnap and the money they get from succeeding. He never does it because he'll get caught. Anyways there've been dozens of girls who come and stay down here with me, but they aren't as pretty as you, and they fight and scream all the time, and walk in circles. So he just kills them."
I gasped.
"Don't worry, I'm sure he won't kill you," she said quietly.
I sighed and silence fell over us again.
"So tell me about yourself," she said suddenly, rolling onto her side to look at me. "Where are you from?"
"England. Don't know how the hell I got here, wherever this is," I said.
"Any siblings? Boyfriends? Relatives that are cops?"
I laughed. "No cop relatives that I know of. No siblings, I'm an only child. And yeah I have a boyfriend," I said, smiling.
"Who?"
"Louis Tomlinson," I said smiling.
"Dunno who that is..." She sighed.
"You don't?" I said. She was a young girl, she should know who One Direction are.
"I've been in here for six years might I remind you," she whispered hoarsely.
"Oh... well he's in a world famous band, One Direction... they went on X Factor."
"X Factor," she breathed, and an unreadable expression crossed over her face.
There was another pause.
"I had a boyfriend once who went on X Factor..." She said. "Went on that show just before I was kidnapped."
"Really? Who? I probably know him through Louis," I said excitedly.
"Niall Horan."
"Niall? You dated Niall?"
"You know who he is?" She sat up to look at me, full in the face now.
"Yeah, of course I know-"
"Did he win?" She asked. "Did he win X Factor? He had such a beautiful voice... it was always his dream."
I stared at her. Maybe she was crazy. I mean Why would she have dated Niall Horan? I mean she was the prettiest girl I'd ever seen, but still. Niall was picky.
"Are you sure the guy you dated was Niall Horan? You know... blonde hair, blue eyes? Irish?"
"We went to school together," she said bristling. "I lived on his street. I'm Irish." She added unnecessarily. I mean I could tell by her accent.
"Niall Horan's in One Direction now, the world famous band, with my boyfriend Louis," I said slowly.
"Really?" She gasped, and a look of pride flashed across her face.
"Tell me about this One Direction," she begged. But I was more interested in her and Niall.
"First tell me about you and Ni," I begged her. "Were you serious? Like did you have a serious relationship? You can be totally honest with me, who am I going to tell in here?"
There was a pause.
"Yes," she whispered. "I loved him since we first met in the summer before second grade."
"Did you guys.. you know," I said, blushing.
"Yes," she whispered defiantly. "I had his child."
"You- what?"
"Niall was the father of my baby girl, Espy Horan."
I staggered.
"What?"
Perrie had begun to sob uncontrollably. Zayn reached over and scooped her up in his arms, placing her in his lap. She sobbed into his shoulder while her rubbed her back gently, his own eyes brimming with tears.
