SHELBEY’S P.O.V.

We got straight down to work as soon as we met our instructor, Sam. He doesn’t seem too bad, blond hair blue eyes rock hard abs. I hope I can learn a lot from him.

“Shelbey,” I heard my name being called. I looked over and saw Sam waving me over.

“Sydney had instructed me to give you special training.” He whispered softly.

“Special training?” I frowned, “Why?”

“Work more talk less.” He said, “Now first thing you gotta remember, make allies. They can be great help later on.”

I nodded as he talked, taking note of all the important details.

“Its important to make allies with the strongest group. Fight with them, get to know them,” He makes hand gestures as he talked. “And when they’re asleep, kill the strong ones.” He made a cutting motion; I was starting to question this ‘special training’. “The next morning when the others wake up, just pretend like you had no idea. Just act surprised and they will completely fall for it. Leave no evidence of the blood on your knife. Wipe it on some grass or something.”

“Uh- excuse me,” I interrupted, “What if I don’t want to kill them?”

Sam shrugged, “kill them before they kill you. That would be the general rule. Unless if you want to die.”

I frowned; I didn’t want to kill anyone like that. I wanted to make some real allies and stick with them until the end.

As I walked away from Sam, I noticed a few stares and whispers. They probably heard about the “special training advice” one way or another ((AHAHAHA get it? Sorry XD)).

As I looked up, I saw a small girl with curly brown hair walking towards me. I braced myself for the worst, maybe she was coming to slap me, bully me, yell at me, I don’t know. I squeezed my eyes shut as she opened her mouth and-

“Hi, my name is Maya. Nice to meet you.” She smiled as she took my hand and shook it. “Wanna be allies?”

I loosened up and smiled back. I nodded. She looks nice enough. But a warning voice in my head whispered slowly, don’t judge a book by its cover!
