A voice blasted through. “The Directioner Game begins in 3, 2, 1, go.”

KAYLA’S P.O.V.

Let me tell you it’s not easy running in the desert. I have my eyes set on the red pack. I ran towards it but somebody grabbed it before me. I growled and sprinted towards that girl. I picked up a rock along the way as I jumped on top of her, she screamed and cursed while I slammed the rock on her head.

Blood gushes from her head as she slumps down. I gasped, realizing what I just did. I stood there for a minute, just staring at the dead body. I killed her. She could have had a great life, with friends and a family who cared about her, but instead, I killed her. I killed her so easily with no second thought.

Somebody tapped me on the shoulder and I twirled around, ready to fight again but it was just Tiana.

“Wow nice work…” she said as she eyed the body, “hurry up and let’s get out of here. The other girls are waiting for you.”

I quickly grabbed the dead girl’s life pack and ran away from the chaos into our big group. As we walked, we started to see a few trees.

“Whohoo!” I hollered.

We sat behind the trees as we unpacked our life packs.

I pulled a metal water bottle first. I took a sip from it and put it back inside. Then I took out a nicely folded piece of paper. I unfolded it, it’s a map of the desert. It has markings about where trees are and where the only water source is. Sweet, I smiled and strapped it on my belt, just in case I need it later. Next I pulled out a small bottle of sunscreen, SPF 150. Useful. I spread some on my exposed skin and kept looking. A rope. What would that be useful for? Then I found a small bag of dried fruit. I thought about eating a few but decided to save it for emergencies. Lastly, I took off the knife that was strapped to the bag and strapped it on my belt.

I smiled, not bad.

As I turned around to talk to Tatianna, I noticed another girl staring at me. Her eyes are full of hatred and coldness.

She mouthed 4 words at me:

I will kill you.
