Forgive Me
Hospital
Kayla POV
Beep... Beep... Beep... The monitor next to Jace's bed was steady, a good sign. I wiped a tear from my face. I had been sitting by his bed for the last 10hours. I looked at Jace. He still managed to look more beautiful than anything I'd ever seen when he was dying. I pushed the thought out of my mind. Just because he had been in a hit-and-run accident and was on life support did not classify him as 'dying'. Or did it? I scowled at myself for thinking such thoughts. Jace was going to make it. He had to. She wouldn't be able to live without him.
" Jace, I swear to god, if you do not wake up I will NEVER forgive you" I whispered, thigh thing my grip on his hand.
I felt a hand n my shoulder. I looked up to see Lea smiling at me sadly.
" it will be fine" she said confidently. Lea was like that. She was unfailinglyy kind and motherly.
I nodded and turned back to Jace. I brought his hand up to my cheek and talked into it.
"Jace, please, do anything.. Just show me your there. That everything will be fine"
Just like magic his eyelids fluttered. My heart skipped a beat. "Jace" I said again. Slowly his eyes flicked open, just a bit. Tears of joy and relief flooded over me. "Jace"
his hand still in mine brushed my cheek. He opened his mouth.
" I-I l-ove y-y ou, more t-than anyt-thing.." He whispered slowly. He smiled at me. I bent over and kissed
him on the forehead, then the lips.
"I can't live without you" I whispered back. An expression of peace game over his face. I kissed him again.
"Now sleep" I instructed him
" If I sleep, promise me ill wake up?" He asked concerned.
" promise" I said, nodding my head.
His eyes closed again and within seconds his breathing was steady and regular. I sat there for awhile when Beep..beep..beep, the monitor started beating rapidly, to fast. The next few seconds where a flash. Doctors rushing around, loud voices, Lea's face, the monitor. Then everything stopped. The doctors stopped and looked at.me. Lea tightened her hand on my shoulder and the monitor. there was no sound. As my mind realised what has just happened I was aware of a voice
" I'm sorry Miss Clawson. He didn't make it"
I was vaguely aware of people talking to me, trying to get me to leave the room and the sound of my own voice, screaming.
"No! I promised. I promised he could sleep. I promised....."
I collapsed on the floor as my world span into darkness.
