Chapter 12

I half opened my eyes lazily as my phone’s alarm went off.
8:15
Time to work out.
I got up and walked up to the bathroom.
I took a look in the mirror as I was washing my hands and examined my face closely.
Beside my lips that were still a bit swollen, my face looked pretty good.
I sighed and turned off the tab and walked up to my drawer.
I tied my hair in a messy bun and put on a pair of white snickers and my usual work out top and shorts before grabbing my phone and headphones and heading outside.
My knees looked pretty okay so I decided to jog.
The servants were preparing the table for the breakfast.
I greet with them before closing the door and breathing in the fresh morning air.
Today was going to be a good day.
I thought to myself and put on my headphones and started running.

When I got back home, all sweaty, Viola had woken up as I was hearing her from the dining room telling one of the servants off for bringing her cold boiled egg.
I ran upstairs and ignored James’ whistle and slammed my bedroom’s door shut.
Asshole!
I took a quick shower and cleaned the wounds on my both knees and put on my black jeans with a black top.
I went downstairs and sat in front of Viola who was now drinking her tea and studying some papers.
James was eating his breakfast like a hungry caveman, not noticing I sat two chairs ahead of him.
Margaret entered the room with my breakfast and smiled at me when my eyes met hers.
“When are you going to learn, Ashley?” Viola’s annoying voice made me slightly jump out of my seat.
I narrowed one eye at her and stared at quizzically.
“ ‘Good morning’ , When are you going to learn to say that?!” she said angrily and glared at me.
I smirked at her and poured some water in my glass.
“whenever I want to.” I mumbled and smiled at her.
James stopped eating and glanced back and forth between me and Viola.
“You are so rude and disrespectful.” She said in a calmer tone than before.
“So?” I said and grabbed a toast and started spreading chocolate syrup on it.
She pursed her lips and stood up.
“you don’t know me, Ashley. But I would be honored to introduce you to the real me.” she said and left the room.
I smirked at her and kept eating my breakfast, not giving a fuck about her what it supposed to be a threat.

After the lovely breakfast I had with James, ignoring his nice comments about my hair and cloth, I headed outside the dining room to my room.
“Miss Colton!! Mrs. Colton wants to see you.” George’s annoying voice came from my behind.
I turned around and clenched my jaw.
“I don’t have time right now I need to see a friend so tell her not to wait.” I said while running upstairs.
I put on my black knee-length boots and grabbed my phone and put Nic's jeans in a bag before getting out of my room.
I ran downstairs and saw the annoyed George standing at the door.
“Mrs. Colton….” He was about to talk that I cut him off.
“Leave me alone.” I mumbled and opened the door.
It actually surprised me that he didn’t even try to stop me.
I passed the gate guards and sent a text to Nic, informing her that I was coming.
She replied with an address, saying that I meet her there.
It wasn’t too far, maybe half an hour walk more or less, so I decided to enjoy the fresh air and have more time with myself by not taking a cab, which was a terrible mistake as I arrived to the place tired and thirsty.
A bar?
I shrugged and stepped in.
It was quite dark in there, so I had to narrow my eyes and watch my steps not to bump into someone.
The smoke was choking me and the loudness of the music was causing damage to my ear.
What the hell was Nic doing here?!
“Ash?”
Nic's voice came from my side and I turned my head towards her.
She was sitting on a stool with a drink in her small hand and a stupid smile on her face.
I walked up to her and pursed my lips.
“what the hell are you doing here?” I snapped at her and coughed as the smoke entered my lungs.
“She came here to see me!”
