I sat down on the bench outside school and searched my bag for my phone. I found it tucked behind one of the pages from the book I'm reading. 0 messages 0 missed calls. Why hasn't Zach tried to contact me? I dialled his number and waited for him to answer.

"Hello?" his voice croaked.

"Zach where the fuck are you?" I shouted.

"Listen K, I'm not going to be home for a while"

"Why the hell not?"

"I've got a lot of stuff I need to deal with, I promise you in one month I'll be back"

"One month?" I shouted loudly down the phone, a few people stared at me.

"I know I'm sorry K, I've got this job and it pays well, everything will be sorted out" he sounded distant.

"Zach are you drunk?"

"No of course not" he said sarcastically. How could he leave me here alone to go out and get drunk?

"In the meantime what the fuck do you expect me to do? I have no money Zach" I whined.

"You'll sort it out you always do" he said confidently.

"That's not fair Zach, I'm 17 I shouldn't have to be sorting everything out"

"I'm sorry I let you down" I could hear the sadness in his voice.

"Don't worry about it, I'll see you when you decide I'm important enough for you to stick around, bye" I hung up.

The realisation that I am 100% alone, with no job or money. How am I going to pay the bills or the rent? I rested my head on my knees.

A male's voice interrupted my thoughts "Hey are you okay?"

I looked up to see Liam standing there looking worried.

"Yeah thanks I'm fine" I lied.

He shook his head and sat down next to me "What's the matter?"

"Honestly nothing is wrong" I pleaded.

"Do you want to know something about me?"

Not really... "Sure" I smiled. After all he was being nice.

"I'm good at knowing when someone is lying and telling the truth. Therefore I know you are bullshitting me right now" he laughed.

I frowned "It's complicated and to be honest I really don't want to talk about it" I looked at him apologetically.

He nodded and leant back on the bench. "I'm Liam" he smiled holding out his hand.

I laughed "I know who you are, the whole school knows" this made Liam blush. "I'm Kate" I shook his hand.

"Nice to meet you Kate" Liam smiled.

"So how are you finding it here?"

"Is that a joke?" He laughed. "It's okay, but it'll be the same wherever I go and this seemed like a good school".

"It is, yeah you'll get the screaming girls, and occasional guys pretty much everywhere" I felt bad for him, but then again he was doing something he loved. It's a price he has to pay.

"Yeah that's true" he laughed. "I have to go, but I'll see you around Kate" he said getting up off the bench.

"Yeah I'd like that, see you around" I smiled.

I may hate One Direction, Harry and Louis. But Liam I liked, he was the most decent one out of them all.

I walked home with Louise, she felt bad ditching Jess but I told her she had Tyler. We didn't
really say much to each other on the way home. Only the occasional question about how our day was, or a comment on the weather.

"Are you alright K?" Louise asked as we got to my house.

"Yeah I'm fine, just been a shitty day" I smiled at her before entering my house.

"See you tomorrow K" she smiled and I waved at her as I closed my door.

The tears that have been trying to get out sprung free from my eyes, I ran up to my room and lay down on my bed hugging my teddy bear. I put the duvet over my head giving me an access into the darkness. This is becoming my favourite place to be. I turned my phone off and put it under my pillow.

Hours passed and I was still awake fighting back the tears that kept coming. How am I still crying? I squeezed my eyes shut allowing sleep to take over me, after a couple more hours it finally came and I was dead to the world.
