"Kate, you need to get off your ass and hurry up. I don't want to be late on our first day back!" Jess shrieked.

I covered my ears "You don't need to shout" I moaned.

Was I really prepared for this? A year full of whiny teenagers obsessing over boys. Boys aren't really the right word to use, more like One Direction. I'm tired of it all, so what they came third on the stupid X Factor now that means they're royal gods at our school. I will make sure I never bow down to them, I am as equally important as all of them. At least I was the only person who thought that...

An hour later we were surrounded by people, some I recognised others obviously new. I spent months being the new girl, everyone staring down at me like I didn't belong. It intimidated the fuck out of me, but I held my own. I wouldn't let a load of Barbie dolls tell me where I can sit in the canteen. I always thought they only belonged in films, my mistake.
"Well if it isn't Kate" Tyler grabbed me from behind spinning me around to face him. I slapped his hand off of my waist and rolled my eyes.

"How many times have I told you not to do that Ty?" I asked.
"Don't know, but I tend not to listen to you" he ruffled up my hair before leaving. I loved that kid, but he really did get on my nerves.
"Kate it's good to see you" Louise smiled at me pulling me into a hug. I stood there awkwardly, I always hated being hugged.
"You too Louise" I smiled at her warmly.

Jess, Louise and Tyler were my best friends. We weren't popular, in fact we were barely noticed by anyone which in a way worked out. Jess stood in front of me trying not to have a meltdown or panic attack. Either one she looked like she was about to faint.
"Jess what's wrong?" I asked worried.
She didn't speak, nodding her head towards One Direction. I rolled my eyes and slapped her on the arm.

"Pull yourself together Jess" I moaned.
"You secretly love them too Kate, don't deny it I bet you dream about them at night touching you and kissing you". I pressed my hand on her mouth before she could carry on. She had a nasty habit of saying too much.
"Cut it out Jess, I need to get to class. Can you try and control yourself whilst I'm gone?" I asked impatient.
"Yes, you're so lucky Kate" she frowned.
"Why's that?"
"You have lesson with Harry fucking Styles. Do you know what I would do to be in a room with him?" She asked looking at me crazily. Oh god.
"Oh goody, I can't wait" I said sarcastically.

I left her alone to fantasise, and went to class. I had English now with Miss Levi, I always have loved her lessons. I noticed there were mostly girls in this class, typical. I stood at the front of the line, making sure I got my favourite seat at the back of the classroom. I like to be left alone and unnoticed in most of my lessons.

Miss Levi opened the door and I ran and sat in my favourite seat. Mission accomplished, this would be my seat for the rest of the year. I noticed lots of girls leaving a seat next to them, in the desperate hope that Harry might actually sit next to them. How pathetic. I wrote my name on the desk Kate Morris, I know we weren't allowed to do that but I always did and no-one ever caught me. Someone started to knock on the top of my desk, I looked up to see Harry standing there waiting. I looked at him confused as to why he was just standing there.

"Can I help you?" I asked agitated.

"I want to sit there" He said calmly. I stared at him in disbelief, is he for real?

"That's nice, but as you can see this desk is already taken sorry" I said coldly. He paused for a moment before opening his mouth.

"Why does it have your name on it?" he asked sarcastically.

I started to laugh at his error, and pointed down at my desk showing him my name.

He began to smile "Kate Morris, nice to meet you. Look I have a thing about sitting at the back of the classroom do you mind switching with me?" He asked tilting his head to the side.

"That's too bad, because I have a thing about that too and well I got here first, you should have gotten here sooner sorry" I said unaffected by his charm.

He stood there part in disgust at the way I was refusing him, with a smile playing at his lips. I could tell he was enjoying being told no.

He looked at the girl next to me, and leant on her desk. She froze unable to speak or move, I am officially embarrassed for her. "May I have this seat?" Harry asked smiling at her. She nodded not allowing a word to come out of her mouth. Harry then sat down in her seat and wrote his name on the desk.

He leant closer to me "Now no-one will be able to steal my desk" I tried my best to hide my smile by biting down on my lip.


The lesson dragged, I always hated the first lesson coming back. We have to go through rules and regulations. I think it's pointless and a waste of time but that's just my opinion. Most people seem to like it as it means they have to do no work. I caught Harry staring at me a couple of times, he didn't even try to hide it. In fact most girls were looking in my direction, probably annoyed that Harry is sitting next to me. Kind of wished I gave him my seat and sat at the opposite end of the classroom, that way I would be unnoticed. The bell rung signalling the end of the lesson, I gathered up my stuff and threw it into my bag.

Harry walked with me out of class "So Kate Morris, do you have a problem with me?"

"No" I answered bluntly.

"I take that as a yes, what did I do?" he asked curious.

"You can't just go up to someone and ask them to move seat, I mean who do you think you are?" I said annoyed.

"I didn't mean to offend you, I just like sitting at the back" he said amused.

"I can see this is a funny game to you Harry, but I like sitting there why should I move because some guy who thinks he's all that wants it?" I stared at him.

He put his hands up in the air "Calm down love, but I guess it worked out in the end anyway" he smiled.

"How so?" I asked.

"I get to sit next to you for the rest of the year" he laughed.

"Oh goody" I said rolling my eyes.

I noticed Jess coming towards us, staring at me stunned. Harry stopped in the middle of the corridor and leant closer to me.

"See you around Kate Morris" he smiled waving his hand before exiting the building.


What a dickhead.
