Never Let Me Go

Chapter 15

Harry's POV

"Baby, go to sleep." I whisper to Aubrey and cover her with a blanket.

I was excited to get her back here to myself, but she really needs to get some rest. I can't even imagine how tired she is after today. It's been one hell of a day, that's for sure.

"I love you, Harry." She says, her words slurred from exhaustion.

"I love you, Aubrey. Goodnight." I kiss her cheek and go to the bathroom.

I can't help but feel guilty for the way I acted tonight, but I'm glad we worked it out quickly. I hope that for the rest of the time we are here, things will be okay.

I leave the bathroom and shut off the light in the room before getting into the bed with Aubrey, who is already fast asleep. I pull her closer to me, wrap an arm around her and eventually drift off.

"Harry, wake up."

I groan and keep my eyes closed when I sit up. I feel like I got two hours of sleep.

"Why so early?" I ask when I see the clock; it's only nine in the morning.

"Because! We have to register for classes today, remember? The semester starts Monday." She reminds me, and I do remember her telling me this the other day. Thank god I have her to stay organized for the both of us.

"Right." I nod and stand up to take a shower. I feel disgusting after all the traveling and last night.

"Take a shower with me." I pull her against my chest.

"We don't have time." She smiles.

"Just to shower!" I lie.

"No, I already took one, now go!" She shoos me into the bathroom. Hey, at least I tried.

Once I've showered and changed, we drive to Cambridge which is only fifteen minutes away. I love the campus. It's one of the main things that made me decide to go here. If Aubrey wasn't here, I might consider living in the dorms.

"What are you signing up for?" I whisper to her in the quiet room. There has to be at least fifty other people here registering with us.

"Biology, calculus, anthropology, sociology and world literature." She whispers back.

"What should I take?" I ask. I have no idea what I want to sign up for. I probably should have thought about this before we came...

"What are you trying to major in?" She asks.

I shrug my shoulders and her eyes widen.

"You don't know? Harry!"

"I'm still trying to figure that out, now what should I take?" I ask her again.

"Well until you declare your major, just get your generals done."

"Okay..."

I sign up for statistics, some outdoor sports class, chemistry, a business class and a writing class. I suppose I can drop them if I don't like them.

"Do you really not know what you want to do?" Aubrey asks me once we leave the registration room.

"I never thought about it." I shrug.

"You have no idea?" She looks confused.

"No..."

"Harry, you have to figure that out!"

"I will! I will." I tell her and thankfully, she drops the subject. It honestly stresses me out to talk about it.

Aubrey's POV

I don't know why he doesn't have anything in mind. I can't believe I didn't know this, I could've helped him figure it out. I guess we just never talked about what he wanted to do.

"So what are your plans for tonight?" I ask him to change the subject. I can sense that he doesn't want to continue this conversation about school.

"Party at Louis', remember?"

"Oh yeah, is it going to be like a party party, or a hang out like last night?"

"I'm pretty sure he invited people from school, he wants to throw an end of the summer rager." Harry laughs.

"Oh lord." I laugh with him and take his hand as we walk off campus.

It's weird to look around and see that we are at Cambridge. Never in a million years would I have thought I would end up moving to England with a boy I've only known for a year, and attend school. As crazy as it sounds, I've never felt more in place. I'm comfortable here.

At times I feel like I'm living a dream. Harry is nothing less than perfect, and I am beyond grateful to have him all to myself. For a minute, things fell apart, but no one will understand how thankful and happy I am to be back to normal with him.

Once we get back to the house, I change into a skirt and cute top. I want to look good tonight, and I know Harry approves of my outfit when he can't keep his hands off of me.

"Why do you do this to me?" He smirks and rests his hands on my waist.

"What am I doing to you, babe?" I smile back and lean up on my toes to kiss him.

"You tease." He laughs.

"We have to go!" The day has gotten away from me, all of this school talk and it's already nine at night.

"Where are you kids going?" Gran stops us in the kitchen.

"Louis'. We're going to be back late." Harry informs her.

"Please be safe." She pleads and says goodbye to us.

I love living with gran.. Yeah, I imagined living in a dorm my freshman year of college, but I couldn't be happier with where I am. I've basically been living alone for the past two years, so it's nice to always have people around.

"Aubrey! You have to meet some of my new friends, they're going to be doctors just like you!" Louis stumbles up to me as me and Harry arrive. Of course, he's already drink out of his mind.

"Sure, Louis." I laugh and follow him.

I'm surprised at how many people are here... Harry wasn't kidding when he said Louis was throwing a rager.

Harry and I follow Louis over to group of people who look our age.

"You guys, this is my cool American friend who is also a doctor, like you guys. That is so cool, my friends are doctors."

"Thanks, Lou." I can't help but laughing at the drunken boy. "We're not doctors yet though." I remind him and he pouts before getting distracted by someone else.

"Hi, I'm Aubrey." I introduce myself to the five people. There are two guys and three girls. Harry remains at my side, but doesn't say anything.

It's nice to meet people who are pre med like me, as nerdy as it sounds; I feel like we have a lot in common because of it.

We end up talking for an hour or so about Cambridge and what brought me to London.

"Harry, you don't have to stay with me. I'm sure the guys are looking for you." I whisper to him.

"I'm going to get a drink." He says and gives me a kiss on the cheek.

"Wait," I grab his arm before putting my hand in his front pocket. "I'm driving home.. Just in case." I pull his keys out and smile before quickly kissing him.

"So how do you guys know Louis?" I ask the others, and they explain different stories. Most are just mutual friends.

I end up telling them how I met Louis and the boys, and they think I'm crazy for moving here. I guess they're right, but I don't mind their opinion.

"Aubs, will you come help me in the kitchen? Someone spilled a bottle of Louis' mum's red wine all over the carpet." Eleanor comes up behind me and interrupts us to ask me. I can't help but laugh.

"Sure." I say to her. "It was nice meeting you guys, see you around?"

I say goodbye to my new friends and follow Eleanor to the kitchen to help her clean the stain.

"Thanks, Aubrey." She thanks me after we finally get the wine out of the carpet. Thankfully, this isn't the first time I've done this, so we were able to get it out.

"Of course. Hey, do you know where Harry is?" I ask her.

"Yeah, I think he's downstairs with the rest of the guys." She informs me.

I haven't seen him in an hour, so I guess I should go see what he's up to. I would go talk to my new friends, but that conversation was getting a bit boring.

"Oh come on! We totally won!" I instantly spot Harry when he yells. He, Louis, Zayn and Niall are playing beer pong in the basement.

"Aubrey, did you see that? Tell Niall over there that me and Lou won!" Harry sees me and walks over to me, slurring his words.

He wraps an arm around my shoulder and leans into me, nearly causing me to fall over. I can already smell the alcohol on his breath.

"I didn't see it, sorry babe." I tell him, and put my arm around his waist to support him.

"Oh come on! Well we totally did." He says.

"Good job." I tell him. "Harry, we should probably get going, it's late."

It's really not late, but I have never seen Harry so drunk. I have no idea how I'm going to get him home.

"I want to stay!" He pouts, and it's actually pretty cute.

"Just a little longer, I'm getting tired." I wink and slide my hand in his back pocket and squeeze his backside.

"I'm ready to go." He smiles and grabs my hand. I knew that would do the trick.

"Alright, bye guys." I wave to the boys and support Harry as we walk to his car outside.

"Aren't you going to say bye to your doctor friends?" Harry asks me as I buckle him into his seat. I feel like his mother, but he is too drunk to do this himself.

"I did." I laugh.

"Youre going to be a sexy doctor, Aubrey." He smiles and pulls me to his chest, and plants a sloppy, wet kiss on my lips.

"Thanks, Harry." I pull away and walk to the drivers side.

Once we get back home, I practically have to drag him upstairs so he can sleep this alcohol off. I'm grateful that gran is sleeping.

"You are not going to feel well tomorrow." I mutter more to myself than him, seeing that he has already passed out on the bed.

I pull off his shoes and jeans and give up before I reach his shirt. I change into some sweats and get into bed with him, hoping he can keep the alcohol down and doesn't puke.
