“Louis its Christmas, Louis its Christmas!” Louis woke up to the screaming twins, full of joy and excitement, which was contagious. He still was extremely sleepy but Daisy and Phoebe made him get up. Everyone went downstairs, around the tree and opened presents; Louis first. Louis got more than he needed, in his opinion, because he was never greedy and always thankful. The girls were all happy with their gifts, too, especially the twins because they still believed in Santa.
Jay made a huge breakfast, mostly Louis’ favorite foods; she wanted to spoil him since he was finally home. Louis was really having a good time, laughing and chatting with his family. Until, of course, Harry’s name had to appear on his phone to ruin it all. He thought about just deleting it; ignoring it, not looking at it or anything. But it was all so tempting, he had to read it.
It was a simple, ‘Merry Christmas!’
Louis sighed, trying to not remember that he did miss Harry a little bit (or, maybe a lot, but he won’t admit that.) So he just ignored the message, and continued to have a good time.
Harry wished he was having more fun. Of course he loved the time with Anne and Gemma, and he was happy with the presents he received and the breakfast they had, and it was nice to be home, in the place that was most familiar. But he really missed Louis, and had to just text him once, while he was sitting in the living room with Gemma watching some Christmas movie, waiting for their mum to get ready for their day with more family.
“Can’t put your phone down, H?” Gemma teased with a soft smile.
Harry sighed, “I just want Louis to text back.”
“It’s Christmas! He’s probably busy.”
Harry considered that, and it did make sense. “Yeah, I guess so.”
What didn’t make sense, though, is that Louis ignored Harry yesterday, and is ignoring him today. Harry knew he was probably being too attached (which is why he was always a bit scared of relationships) and that Louis doesn’t have to talk to him every single day, especially now that Louis is home and has family he hasn’t seen in months, but still, Louis could say something back just once.
In celebration of Christmas, some family came to Harry’s house. A lot of them asked about his dancing; if he still was doing it, how good he’s doing with it, how long he’s going to continue. There were some compliments, of course, too; saying they’re proud, and he’s so great at what he does. Harry appreciated it, nodding and smiling, saying thank you. He kept checking his phone, though, and Louis still hasn’t said anything. Harry wanted to text Louis, just one more time, but he didn’t want to seem desperate. It had been hours since the last text though. He sighed to himself, deciding this would be the last text. If Louis didn’t respond this time, he would just let it go and leave him alone for the rest of vacation.
Harry didn’t exactly know what to say this time. Should he say ‘miss you’? Would Louis even care? Harry stopped over thinking, and simply typed, ‘Hope you’re having a lovely Christmas..’
Louis got the text when he was sitting at the table, getting ready to eat dinner. He stared at the message, starting to feel guilty, thinking about responding.
“Boobear, no phones at the table, please,” Jay said, setting food on the table and taking her seat.
Louis took that as a sign that he shouldn’t respond, so he put his phone away, and started to eat.
