A New Family

Chapter 37

Lily's POV:

I managed to avoid Luke all day long. As soon as the last bell rang I sprinted to my locker, grabbed my backpack, rushed to the bike racks, and went home. I just didn't want to see Luke anymore. I'm not sure what feelings I have for him. He could be Nick. And I can't have another guy in my life, I just want Nick.

I parked my bike into the garage and trudged inside my house. Running to my room, I dumped my stuff on the floor and heaved a heavy sigh. I went to the second level and peaked into Eleanor's room. Something huge jumped in front of me and squeezed me.

"I thought you left me." Whispered Eleanor.

"I just went to school. Did you see the note?" She shook her head.

"All I saw was you, riding your bike, away from me" she sobbed into my shoulder.

"I just miss Louis so much!" I rubbed comforting circles into her back and felt guilty.

"I will never leave you." I said reassuringly to Eleanor and to myself.

"Are you sure?" Eleanor pulled back and wiped her tears away, looking intently into my eyes.

"Where would I go? I have no family" I said bitterly. And it's true, every family member, even people I have never met, they're all gone.

"Yes you do. I'm your family, Louis too. And I'm pretty sure Zayn, Harry, Liam, and Niall all want to be your godfather" I laughed in delight, feeling a better.

"So what do you want to do tonight?" Asked Eleanor as she changed out of her tear-ridden clothes.

"I still want to see the London. Maybe go by the river."

"Thames? We could take a Rib Ride" suggested Eleanor.

"What's a Rib?" I asked.

"Come on" Eleanor took my hand and led me to her Mini One D (Louis bought it for her 20th birthday), she backed out of the driveway and turned the radio on. Brave was on (my new favorite song) and we sang the chorus together:

"Say what you you wanna say,
And let the words fall out.
Honestly, I wanna see you be Brave!"

We sang down the highway and stopped by the Thames River. I breathed in the fresh air and gazed at all the twinkling city lights. London was breathtaking.

"Come on!" Shouted Eleanor, she was already down on the Pier, buying us tickets for this "Rib Ride". I ran down the steps and grabbed her hand. We walked further down the Pier and saw an orange boat-like thing. It had a huge engine in the back and the front was pointed.

"Can we sit in the front?" I asked excitedly. She nodded enthusiastically, and we carefully climbed into the front seats. A man of about forty years, climbed in next to the engine, and handed us life vests.

"Wait, where are the other people?" I asked, there was still plenty of seats open.

"I uh, bought all the seats" Eleanor said guiltily.

"Seriously?!?" I asked.

"Hey, my husband's a millionaire, cut me some slack!" I laughed and settled in comfortably into my seat.

"You girls ready?" Shouted the man.

"Yeah!" Eleanor and I shouted. In reply, the roar if the engine pierced the air and the boat sped across the water. "Wahoo!!" we yelled and put our hands in the air. Our side of the boat tipped up, out of the water and we watched at the dazzling lights reflecting off the river.

When we came back up to shore, Eleanor looked at me, intently.

"You ever been to Nandos?" I frowned, what kind of name was that?

"I'm guessing from your facial expression that you haven't." Eleanor laughed and took my hand again.

I discovered that Nandos was actually a chicken restaurant! I noticed that Eleanor was really quiet while eating.

"What's wrong?" I worriedly asked, Eleanor sighed.

"I've never came here without Louis. I mean, I'm a model. Why would I eat greasy food? But when we started dating, he tempted me into eating here, this is my guilty pleasure, He's my guilty pleasure..."

"Eleanor, Louis will be back by Thanksgiving. And then a month later you can see him again at his birthday and Christmas!"

"I know, and I know he would never cheat on me. But there are so many more beautiful women than I. How do I compare?"

"The first time I saw you, coming out of my Grandma's bathroom, I thought: This is the most flawless woman I have ever seen in my life." Eleanor hugged me tight.

"Thank you Lily. I don't know how I could survive without you, you remind me so much of him."

"Don't worry, I will never leave." I promised myself that I would never think of running away again.
