A New Family

Chapter 31

Luke's POV:

I was sitting in the lunch room when I saw Her. I saw her when Thomas dared me to stand on the table and shout:

"Give me twenty bucks and I will give a night you will never forget!" I always do dares because people (meaning girls) will notice me and I never get embarrassed. I successfully completed the dare, but unfortunately, many girls took it seriously and I now have $200 bucks and I'm occupied for a few nights.

The thing about girls is I haven't found Mine yet. People think that when I grow up I'm going to be a man whore, but the truth is, I have never ever asked a girl out, kissed, or even hugged a girl (but girls have asked me out, kissed me, and hugged me in the past). I just haven't found the right one. Ever since I was a little boy, I've always wanted to be a superhero, save a damsel in distress, and then make out (usually that's what happens), you know, average superhero day.

But I've never found The Girl yet. Until today. Upon the lunchroom counter, I was looking through all the familiar faces, searching for a new face, that could be The Girl. Then I saw a pair of sparkling, light green eyes, then her pale, freckled cheeks, then her pink lips. Her hair was curly and red, which went down, mid-length. She was short, but she stood out easily in the crowd, with her stunning hair. She was holding someone's hand, my eyes looked to the right of her.

Jacob. Of course. Now He was going to be a man whore someday.

I refocused on The Girl, my heart pounding, loudly. Who was she? She looked confused and out of place, as if she didn't belong here. She hung on to Jacob as if her life depended on it, yet she clung to him timidly, like she was unsure about him. They started making their way over, I quickly straightened my uniform, silently cursing the unattractiveness of it.

The closer she got the more sure I was, she was absolutely flawless. I had no doubt in my mind that she was the one. I think everyone at my table realized someone spectacular was approaching because we all turned and stared at her perfection. Ben, Thomas, and I drooled over her and Sophie, Reyna, and Claire narrowed their eyes with jealousy.

I simply smiled, hoping that the new haircut my mom forced me to get was helping my appearance. But she never looked at me, she just stared down at her feet. I cleared my throat, hoping to catch her attention.

"Hey guys." Jacob said weakly.

"And who might this be?" Asked Reyna, her voice on edge, she was normally nice but she had called dibs on Jacob, every girl in this school knew. I waited for The Girl to respond but she continued to stare at her feet.

"This is Lily, she's from America." Jacob said. I bravely took a step forward and held out my hand.

"I'm Luke, nice to meet you," I said. She slowly lifted her head and met my gaze, her eyes widened and peered curiously at me. When she shook my hand, I didn't let go, she didn't either. My heart was pounding faster than when I ran the mile in five minutes. Jacob shot lasers into my eyes, I rolled mine, and reluctantly, let go of Lily's hand. She blushed, studied her toms again and looked even more adorable.

"This is Ben, Reyna, Claire, Thomas, and Sophie." I said, pointing at each person. Ben and Thomas grinned, the girls just crossed their arms and glared at her. I studied her as she sat across from me, carefully taking out her lunch as if they were nuclear explosions. We ate in silence, I chewed my tasteless potato chips while Lily ate some blueberry yogurt. I pointed at it, knowing how to get her to laugh, and said:

"I see you took your swapertunity." I slowly counted to three, on four Lily burst into laughter. She laughed so hard she couldn't stop, she ended up shedding a tear before she managed to calm down.

"Um, I have to use the bathroom," announced Jacob, "could someone watch..?" His eyes darted over to Lily, I nodded. He looked at me, then at Lily, and then he glared, as if saying "Don't you dare try anything." He reluctantly left, with Ben, Thomas, Sophie, Reyna, Claire and I on one side of the table and Lily on the other.

"So what's your deal with Jacob?" Asked Reyna, suspiciously.

"We're neighbors." She replied, simply.

"Then why were you holding hands?" Reyna interrogated. Lily narrowed her eyes at Reyna, as if figuring something out.

"I don't know anyone else." Reyna snorted and whispered something to Sophie and Claire, causing them to burst into giggles. I awkwardly looked at Lily, wondering if she was afraid of them. Guessing by the way she rolled her eyes I would say she doesn't care. I was about to say something but Thomas interrupted.

"What state in America did you live in?"

"You probably haven't heard of it, it's Minnesota."

"I have!" stated Ben, I rolled my eyes, yeah right. Then Jacob came back, practically dragged Lily away (Mother like son), and leaving me breathless for a girl that I had only met fifteen minutes ago. Luckily, Lily was in my last three classes: Gym, Math, and Science.

I payed no attention to the blabbering teachers, although Lily payed no attention to me, she was concentrated on the teachers. I don't know how but everything she did seemed perfect, I liked how she moved, how she raise her hand and asked questions, I even smiled at her breathing!

I think I need a doctor, I just hope it's Lily.
