Effie's destiny

“You heard me. You come here all dolled up, you tease me, you always do this and then when I tell you I want you you shut me down. Yes you heard well, you are a fucking tease Effie Parks!” Before he could add anything the slapped him across the face.

“And you are an idiot Louis Tomlinson. You and I, our deal, our friendship, everything, we are done. Over. Stick this in your thick little head” she said very calmly before going back to the others who had not missed a single word of the scene. Only when she left realised his mistake. He had lost her, his best friend. The girl he was falling in love with again, his alter ego, his female version. Shocked he let himself fall on the seat before seeing Ella and Harry come to him.

“Liam… Take me away” said the girl bluntly

“Eff…”

“No. Listen to me for once. I’m asking you a favour. Take me away. I need fresh air”

As the boy could see the young girl clearly upset he didn’t argue. She wasn’t crying, she never cries but her face was an open book tonight. He took her hand waving at the others to let them know he would contact them soon and led her outside the club.

“Where to?”

“The studio. I need to get rid of this feeling. Please” she begged.

Payne’s Boxing and Fitness Studio

“Of course.” Liam hailed a taxi, gave him the address of the studio and took Effie’s hand as she was looking at the streets of London by night. She didn’t move away but said nothing. When they pulled at the studio he paid for the fare and led her inside. Because she was now coming everyday Liam had offered Effie to leave some clothes there to facilitate things for her. He grabbed one of her pair of yoga pants and a tee-shirt along with her shoes and gave them to Effie.

“Go easy babe, you have been drinking” said Liam when she came back 5 minutes later. She nodded and he helped her putting some gloves on. Letting her make her way to a punching bag he observed her quietly. She was closed to all talking but at the same time she had determination in her eyes and that scared him. As she started punching the bag he went to the office and called Zayn telling him where they were. Perrie made him promise he would look after her. They talked on the phone for 10, maybe 15 minutes trying to find a solution for their friends. He then grabbed a bottle of water and made his way back to the room where he could hear her punching fast and strong. Just as he entered she fell down on the floor letting a little scream come out of her mouth.

“Effie!” Liam ran to her. “Effie babe get up!” he tried to catch her eyes but her head was down and she wouldn’t move.

“I… I can’t…”

“Of course you can, you are just tired. Come on, let me help you.”

“No Liam. It’s my legs… I can’t feel them anymore.”

“The numbness?” he asked knowing it would happen but she never mentioned not being able not to feel her legs.

“I lied to you Liam. It’s not from time to time I have numbness… it’s all the time. I… I shouldn’t even practise any sport. I’m so sorry Liam. I’m such a disappointment for you” her voice croaked, tears clearly there. Liam couldn’t believe her; he needed to get her to the hospital as quickly as possible. He carried her to the reception hailing a cab seconds after. He carefully locked the studio and joined Effie in the taxi.

“The Princess Grace’s Hospital. Be quick please” he commanded the cab driver. As he started driving he pulled the brunette in his arms stroking her hair. She wasn’t crying but her distress was obvious. She wasn’t the Effie he knew and it was scary. He wasn’t disappointed; he was just worried because he had grown to like her in the past weeks. They were seeing each other every day, they got really close and he couldn’t deny what she was doing to hi,. As he was hugging her he sent a message to his friends explaining the situation.

“Please sir let us handle this” said a nurse as they were starting to take Effie away.

“Wait… I need to talk to her” shouted Louis rushing to Liam’s side.

“Well… Fine. We give you 5 minutes nothing more” reluctantly accepted the nurse bringing back the wheelchair Effie was in.

“Go away. All of you” she just said not looking at the boys.

“No! I’m not leaving you!” almost screamed Louis but quietens down seeing the nurses giving him the evil eye.

“It’s all you fault Louis. All of this, the accident, tonight, us, all of this is your fault” she said letting a single tear fall on her cheek wiping it away with rage. “Go. Both of you. I don’t need you” she added. “I know what’s going to happen now and I don’t need you. Go away.” Louis completely shocked by her words stepped back but Liam stepped forward and kneeled down in front of the brunette.

“I’m not going anywhere.”

“Liam… I’m begging you go. I can’t have you here now” tears were now falling on her cheeks. She was heartbroken.

Eventually Liam started standing up but kneeled down once more. He put his hands on Effie’s cheeks and softly kissed her lips tasting her tears.

“At least I know what your lips taste like” he said sweetly before standing up and moving on the side as a nurse pushed her to the scan.

“I’m not giving up” he finally said looking at her being taken away.
