New Sister
Gemma's (boy)friend
“What’s wrong Harry?” Gemma asked. I didn’t respond, I just looked at Marcus with a surprised and furious look. He looked surprised too and guilty. Good. I feel that Liz hid her face in my shirt. ‘” Relax, he won’t hurt you,” I whispered in an attempt to comfort her. “Harry, seriously, what are you talking about?” “Why don’t you tell her?” I told Marcus. “Because you don’t understand it,” he whispered. “Don’t understand what?” Gemma asked. “Guys, tell me what’s wrong!” “Can you put me down?” Liz asked me, still refusing to look at Marcus. I put her on the couch and sat protectively between them. “Gemma, can you help me?” my mom yelled, not even aware of the situation. “Marc?” “I’ll explain it to you. But go help your mom.” I frowned. He was far too friendly to my sister. “If you touch him, you’re dead,” Gemma whispered before she left. “Love you too sis,” I responded sarcastically.
“What are you doing here?” Liz asked. “Visiting a friend,” Marcus replied nervously. “Listen, I understand you are mad at me, but I swear I had no idea what he was really up to. Tyson told me that you ran away from home and stayed with him and that he was protecting you from a miserable life. And, I don’t know, I’ve never seen him so happy when you were with him. So I assumed that he was telling me the truth.” “Well, at least one of us was happy. But, how could you not know where he was up to? He was busy with his business… the whole day practically.” Marcus shrugged. “I went to school, he told me he had to work or went to see his family…” “If you’re so innocent, why did you run?” I interrupted. “I panicked. I just saw my best friend trying to kill his girlfriend,” I groaned when he called Liz Tyson’s ‘girlfriend’, “I mean, how would you react? And besides, your friends were terrifying as well.” “You took Harry down, because you thought he was going to take me back to a place I hated,” Liz suddenly said. “And you said that ‘we will protect you’. You were helping your best friend.” I frowned and then wondered if I’d do the same thing for one of my friends. Liz took my hand when she noticed that I was tensing. However, I was still going to end this conversation. “Marcus, listen, two things: As long as you stay here, you keep your distance from Liz.” He nodded. “And I cannot forbid you to hang out with my sister, but if you mess something up again, you’re doomed.” He nodded again. “Come on, let’s go outside,” I said to Liz. I turned my back to Marcus, deciding not to recognize his presence anymore.
“What’s wrong?” I asked Liz. I took her to the park. We sat at the waterside, and I could see she was worried. “It’s Marcus. He scares me. I don’t know why, but I have this feeling that he was lying to us.” “Listen, forget about it okay. Tomorrow we go back to London and you’ll have nothing to worry about. We’ll focus on your therapy and, well, I’m sorry I brought you. If I’d known he would show up…” “You didn’t know and apart from what just happened, I had a great time.” I smile and kiss her. “Harry, I love you.”
