New Sister
Goodbye Brighton
I took my bag and closed the door behind me for the last time. My home for the past fifteen years. Mila stood there, with her hands in her pocket, trying to fight her tears. But she didn’t succeed, neither did I. We hugged tightly and it felt as if Mila was not going to let me go. And I’d be fine if she didn’t. “Bye little elf sister,” Mila said and despite the situation I giggled. “Bye, take good care of your serial killers.”
It was quite a long drive from Brighton to Doncaster, around four hours. I took my iPod and listened to some music. When I recognised the intro of my favourite song, I unconsciously started to hum along. Suddenly, I felt like somebody was staring at me and I was right. When I opened one eye, I saw Louis staring at me in the reflection of the mirror, smiling. I frowned and he looked away when he noted that I’d busted him. I stared out of the window. I had a lot of time to overthink things and well, it sucked. I kept thinking about my father. Which wasn’t a good idea.
Four hyperactive girls greeted me when I finally got out of the car. Especially the two youngest. They introduced themselves as Phoebe and Daisy. The oldest one, Charlotte, freed me after a few moments. The last girl introduced herself as Felicite. My eyes grew big as I realised they were all living in the same freaking house. The last time I’d lived with so many people in one house, was when I stayed with Davina. She had two younger brothers and two younger sisters. It was never quiet with zero privacy. Seriously, when I came home, I still had a ringing sound in my ears. Help me?
“This top is so HOT! I want to borrow it.” Charlotte showed one of my tops of 13 cats.“Great, I know where to look when I lose it,” I laughed. Sort of. It wasn’t really me, but it had been for sale and Mila convinced me it was a great party outfit. “Do you need help with this?” Louis asked, when he put a box of books on my desk. “I’ll do that myself.” It sounded a little harsher than I meant, but, well, I couldn’t care less. I had this weird thing that my books had to be arranged in a certain manner and nobody but me was allowed to touch them. Louis left me and Charlotte alone. While I put my books in the bookcase, Charlotte continued ratifying my clothes and she kind of made a mess. “Charlotte, you’re not really helping,” I remarked. “Ow, sorry.” She started folding the clothes, while I opened up another random box with random things. They were mostly beats. I sighed, I was going to do that later. “Lotte, Elizabeth, dinner!” Jay called us. I sighed and took a vest. Family time, joy.
