New Sister
... And haunted
I desperately tried to find my way out of here. The crowd, the grounds, away from Tyson. I pushed people aside, which resulted in some angry shouts, and started running and running. I left the grounds and ran straight back to the village. After about twenty minutes, I reached a restaurant. I could hardly move anymore, so I sat down outside on the stairs that provide access to the beach. That was the moments I finally released my tears. No, why? Why me? Why was he here? How did he find me a crowd of freaking 40 000 people? All questions with no answer. My phone rang. I took a deep breath before answering. “Liz, where on earth are you?” Davina asked. Damn, I’d forgotten that I’d meet up with them again. “Ehm, I am at Zeerust.” “What?! How on earth did you get there?” “Walk.” Somebody else took the phone. “Liz, where… Why are you crying?” Mila asked. “It’s. Nothing.” It took great effort for me to say that. Liar, liar, my thoughts echoed. “Davina knows where I am. Just walk up to here house, you’ll pass the place,” I told here, trying to control my voice. I ended the call. It took half an hour for them to get here, but you know, it was quiet far from the Brouwersdam and I’d ran as if I were chased. Which I was.
“Liz!” Mila and Davina crushed me with their hugs. “Why are you here? Why did you leave without us?” “I… it… I don’t know.” “You know you can tell us, right?” Davina remarked. I nodded. But not with five random guys. “I’ll tell you tonight, okay?” Mila gave Davina a confused look. “She’ll tell us later,” she whispered so the guys couldn’t hear her. “Come.” Davina took me to the bar of the restaurant. She ordered hot chocolate for me, because she knew it calmed me down and it was just a peace of heaven in a cup.
When we got home, I told everybody goodnight and went upstairs. I got ready for bed and sat down, waiting for Mila and Davina. After a few minutes they followed me. When we laid in bed, I took a deep breath and started telling them things I’d kept from them for over a year now.
