"Alright thanks!" I said to the kind lady who helped me find out where I was going, and also gave me a map. I was staying in Wilson Hall, and my roommates name was Danielle. Unfortunately, I didn't know anything about anyone, so I hoped that out of the goodness of my rommates heart, she would give me the low down on everything and be my friend hopefully. I didn't want a Pitch Perfect ordeal happening; I don't know if I could deal with a real life Kimmy Jin. Do they know what Pitch Perfect is in England? Hmm, I guess I'll find out. "Oh my goodness! Hi! You must be my roommate Reyna right?! It's so nice to meet you!" This girl said as she ran over and hugged me, and I got a mouthful of her thick, poofy hair.
She stepped back, allowing me to see who this stranger I was about to call my roomate was. She was pretty, dark, with thick and poofy brown hair as I previously stated. Obviously she was also very nice, I didn't even say a word and she already hugged me. If that isn't kindness, I don't know what is.
"Uhh, yeah I'm Reyna. You must be Danielle?"
"Yes!" she chuckled. "Sorry I kind of just hugged you, but I was just so excited to meet you, I've ever roomed with a foreinger before."
Foreigner? That is the first time I have ever been called that.. It's only America. I mean, I guess we were England's baby until we decided to become a rebellious teenager and fight for our independence.Okay, I like history, sidenote."No, it's alright. I'm honestly just glad that you aren't like Kimmy Jin or something." I laughed.
"Who's Kimmy Jin?" she asked
Welp, she's obviously never seen Pitch Perfect.. sigh."Oh, it's from this movie. I'll guess we will have to watch it sometime so you get the idea." I said putting all my crap on my bed.
"Ooh that would be fun. A little roomie bonding!"
Okay, this is good, she likes me and I need the ropes shown to me. This is a good thing!
"Yes! I know I only just got here, but could you show me the ropes around here? I know school doesn't start for two days, but I'd like to know what I should be doing socially so I don't look like a complete idiot."
"Oh yeah! No problem, let's go!"
Before I could do or say anything, she grabbed my hand and led me out the door.
We were walking around campus, Danielle told me where certain classes are, the caferteria general stuff like that. Then she starting asking me questions.
"So do you play any sports?"
"Me? Haha noooooo waaaay. I definitely am more of a music slash performing arts kind of person."
"Oh my, well you will probably be spending a lot of time in the music hall. You'll want to know two guys over there, their names are Niall and Louis."
"Wait, Niall? Is he blonde, innocently cute, has a different accent?" I knew this had to be that guy who helped me out earlier. I wouldn't complain if it was, I wouldn't mind getting to know him better.
"Yeah! That's him exactly! How did you know?"
"Well, I was being my lost, American self and he helped show me where to go."
"Ohh, well that's good. This year he is the president of the choir department, and the other guy, Louis, is president of all the drama stuff if you're into that." Wow, Danielle seemed to know a lot about the arts stuff which kind of surprised me. Only because she looked like more of a sprts type of girl.
"Okay, I will definitely talk to them. What about you? Do you do any sports?" I asked Danielle.
"Well, I mostly dance. So in the fall I am on the dance team, but in the spring I usually am in the musicals as a dancer."
"Wow, that's actually really cool." I was impressed, she seemed like she found a way to do both arts and sports, which usually was a hard thing to do considering they don't usually get along all that well. I was in the middle of a train of thought, when I saw three guys sitting at a table across the campus. They were all wearing similar sports jackets, and they looked like they ran the place for sure.
So American high school isn't all that different from English high school. Even at private school they have jocks, nerds, and weird kids. Interesting.I snapped out of it and asked Danielle who they were.
"Well, the one on the left is Zayn, he is the receiver for the football team and very pretty in the face. But at the same time he is really chill and usually you can't get hm to say much unless you are really good friends with him. The one on the right is Zach. He is one of the best linemen we have for our football team. Let's just say, his brains isn't why he is here. And the one in the middle, that's Harry." Hellllooooo Harrryyyy. "He is the star quarterback. He is nice when he wants to be, but he basically lvoes footall as much as girls, and anyone who diagrees that football isn't important is basically shunned. He's usually follwed around by the cheerleaders, especially Kelsey, but I don't see her today.." Danielle said.
"Well, I think that music and the arts are just as important as football. I mean I know it isn't as physical, but it's not like it's easy either." I replied.
"Well if you said that to Harry's face, I'm pretty sure you would not be on his good side."
"Who said I wanted to be on his good side? It's not like I'm really going to talk to him or anything."
"I'm just warning you, that's all. My boyfriend is the student body president. He's trying to make ammends between sports and arts, but I think he's going to struggle a lot." Danielle said with a sigh.
"What's your boyfriends name?" I asked.
"Liam"
"Wait.. Liam as in Liam Payne?"
"Yes.. do you know him?"
"I certainly do."
