Lost In The Music

Chapter Seventeen

*Harry's P.O.V*
"We're here!" Louis shouted as we entered the house. The boys loudly greeted us, and Niall noticed Savannah was still with us.
"Aye, she's staying?" He asked. I nodded, and she tried to slink away, but I wrapped an arm around her waist.
"Great! Party time!" He jokingly exclaimed. She looked up at me for reassurance that we weren't actually going to throw a party. I winked at her, and she relaxed.
"Should I go make dinner or something?" She quietly asked me, setting her bag down and going into the kitchen without waiting for an answer. I followed her, and when she opened the refrigerator door, I shut it. She raised an eyebrow, and tried opening the door. Once again, I closed it before she could retrieve anything.
"What?" She asked, sighing. I clicked my tongue.
"Making us breakfast today was ok, but that was only because you promised you'd do it in exchange for playing on our Kinnect. In my house I cook for you," I said, putting emphasis on the pronouns. After eyeing me to see if I was serious or not, she gave up and sat down at the kitchen table. Grinning to myself, I grabbed some leftover pizza, a box of pasta, and some Alfredo sauce. I turned on the stove, and filled two pots with water. Placing them on the stove, I stuck the frozen leftovers in the microwave. Feeling like an octopus, I reached for the pasta box, only to discover it was gone.
"Hey, Sav? Did you see where the–" I bumped into someone, and I stepped back to reveal Savannah standing in front of the pots. She was putting the contents of the box in the boiling water, and put the lids back on.
"What?" She innocently asked.
"What part of "I cook for you" do you not understand?" I jokingly asked, pretending to be stern. She shrugged.
"You never said anything about helping." Smart one.
"Fine," I said, grinning at her technicality. Smiling, she continued to watch the pasta for me while I took the pizza out of the microwave and put it on a platter. When it was time, I drenched the cooked noodles with the creamy sauce and poured the finished product in a large family-size bowl.
"Good job, Mrs. Assistant," I joked as we carried the dishes to the living room. She raised her eyebrows at me.
"Oh please. If you would let me, I'd happily cook all the meals for you and your gang," she said, setting the bowl down on the table in front of Niall and Liam.
"Ooh!" Niall squealed and grabbed a fork. Liam shook his head and took a piece of cheese pizza. Louis and Zayn each put two pieces of the leftovers on their plates, and they had generous helpings of the pasta. As for me, I tried Savannah's creation, and it was pretty delicious. When I grasped the serving spoon for another serving, she put her hand on my wrist.
"That's your fifth helping," she said.
"I know. Maybe it's just really good," I winked, and she just shook her head with a grin.
'Eat away, then," she joked with a grand sweep of her arm.
"Gladly." I just about inhaled the entire bowl, much to the disappointment of the other boys. Apparently, they wanted more, too. I smacked my lips appreciatively, and she giggled.
"Well, I see you clearly liked that," she remarked, taking the bowl and other dishes.
"Of course," I said as she went into the kitchen. The sound of running water followed, and I assumed she was cleaning up.
I leaned back on the couch and stretched my arms and legs.
"Oi, mate, she's quite the cook," Zayn commented.
"I know. I'm a lucky guy– I'll be getting her meals every day now," I joked.
"Um, excuse me? You were the one that said, "I cook for you," Savannah called from the kitchen, imitating my voice. The guys burst out laughing, and I turned red.
"Aww, you heard that?" I asked.
"You know it."
"If you ever decide on you-know-what, she's a keeper," Niall said in between his chuckles.
"Heard that too, and thanks, Niall," Sav said, entering the room. I groaned and put my head in my hands while the others manically laughed. She sat down next to me, ruffling my curls.
"Wow! You let her mess up your hair, yet when we do it, you end up crying or yelling at us," Louis shouted.
"I'm pretending I didn't hear that!" She said, rolling her eyes. I chuckled.
"I'm just gonna go. . ." she said, standing up and heading upstairs to the guest bedroom that we'd given her.
"Later!" All of us called. The boys leaned in closer once her footsteps ceased.
"So, fancy her yet?" Louis asked, wagging his eyebrows. I groaned.
"This again?"
"Yes, this again. We want to know all the juicy details," Louis said, flipping his hair and pretending to be a girl.
"You guys aren't going to let up until I talk, aren't you?" I asked, already knowing the answer. They nodded.
"Fine. I think she's amazing, smart, funny, talented, and she's levelheaded. I think the fans would like her." I said.
"And?" Zayn prompted, wanting me to spit out the one phrase they all want to hear. Sighing, I gave up.
"And. . . I want her to be my girlfriend, even though I only met her yesterday." I finished, and they all hooted.
"Finally! I think Sarry would be so cute!" Louis gushed, still pretending to be an obnoxious girl.
"Um, Harry?" A voice asked. Our heads whipped to the staircase, and there stood Savannah.
"Yeah?" I managed to squeak out. Oh gosh, I hope she didn't hear us!
"You got a text from someone." She handed me my phone, and I glanced at the screen.

From Unknown Number:
Hey, it's me. You probably don't want to hear from me right now, but I wanted to tell you I know we messed up before, but I felt something. I want to try again, please call me back; I still love you –Caroline

I locked my phone and threw it on the table without responding.

"Who was it, mate?" Louis asked.
"Her," I muttered. He instantly knew who I was talking about.
"What? I thought you guys. . ."
"Well, she doesn't think so," I snapped, crossing my arms. He didn't take my tone personally; he knew how sick I was of her.
"Ok, I'm not exactly your hard-core directioner, but I know this person has to have done something to him," Savannah said. "Who are you guys talking about?" All the boys pursed their lips, knowing who Louis and I were discussing.
"Caroline," I mumbled. Her brow furrowed.
"And she's your. . ." she trailed off, wanting one of us to finish her sentence.
"Ex." She frowned.
"Well, if she wants you back, I guess I should probably leave then, because the paparazzi won't help–" she started going up the staircase, preparing to go grab her stuff.
"No!" She turned around, confused.
"Why not? I mean, if you were a couple, then–"
"He didn't really like her, she's pretty much deluded into thinking he's head over heels for her," Liam explained. Her mouth formed an "ohhh" shape.
"So you should probably stay," Niall added. She glanced at me for confirmation, and I vigorously nodded. She bit her lip, as if debating whether to actually stay or not, but she eventually sighed and sat down. All of us cheered, happy she was remaining with us.
"Don't worry, we want you with us," I told her, putting an arm around her shoulder. She smiled at me, believing my words.
