Ch 3: Sing Me A Lullaby
(Carter's POV)
I mentally kicked myself in the face. I felt my cheeks blush crimson. "Don't be embarrassed. You have a nice voice, sis" Harry said as the boys left the opening known as my door. I shut it and slid down and buried my face in my knees. I got on my pajamas (I sometimes go without pants) and walked outside. I walked down the staircase and walked through living room where the boys were playing FIFA sports until they saw me and their jaws dropped. "Oh sure. Keep it while it lasts" I joked walking into the kitchen. They just shrugged and went back to their game. "Where are the girls." I asked from the kitchen. There was an akward silence. "We thought you had 'em" they said in a shakey voice. "Last time I saw them they were playing hide and go seek in the front yard!" I said raising my voice, "Check out front! I'll check the rooms!" Liam ordered and I went out front with Zayn. I had a deathly fear of the dark. "Ebby! Alex! Marlee! Beck!" I called. I sighed. "Red Robin. " I sang. All their head popped out. "Yum!" They screamed and giggled. The ran to us. We got inside and told the boys. They said it was time for bed for Ebby, Marlee, and Beck. They put them to bed and asked if me and Alex wanted to stay up late. Alex said no but I said yes so I was hanging out on my laptop in the living room with them. I got a Skype call. Ashton. "Uh, Can I Skype my boyfriend from the orphanage?" I asked. They nodded and walked out. I answered it. "Hey, beautiful" He greeted. I smiled and chuckled a bit. "Hey, Ash" I replied. "How's your new place?" He asked. "It's amazing. I've got a balcony in my room and I got a iPhone 7." I said excitedly. "7?!?!" The 5 has barely released info! How'd you get that?!" He asked. "I guess it helps to be famous." I said. "So who's last name you taking?" He asked. "I don't know yet. Probably Malik. Carter Malik. Nice sound to it." I joked. He laughed. "I miss you already" He said. I began to tear up. "I miss you to." I croaked as a tear rolled down my cheek. "Don't cry, Carter.." He pleaded. Too late. Im bawling into my knees now. "Cartie, everything will be okay. This long distance thing could work." He said. "But what if it cant, Ashton" I asked him. He started to say something then hesitated. " I miss you a lot. I will try to come and visit sometimes but It might be hard, okay, darlin' ?" He asked. I looked up and nodded, blinking back the rest of my tears. He sighed. " I have to go. I love you...... Mwah...." He said blowing me a kiss as he began to tear up too. I blew one back. "Bye Ashton" You said as you closed your laptop crawled into a ball and broke down crying. I felt strong warm around me. I looked up. It was my brothers. Kneeling next to me to see if I was okay. "We saw the whole thing. I'm so sorry, Carter" Zayn said. I nodded and asked him to carry me to bed. He carried me up to my room and laid down next to me. "Can you sing to me?" I asked. He smiled and began singing Little Things. I fell asleep and so did he. I fell asleep in his arms and somehow, I felt so safe.....
