Love Will Tell Us Where To Go

Chapter 4

I slowly began to gain consciousness. I didn’t open my eyes, but I could tell that I definitely wasn’t in the lobby anymore. As I began to become more aware of my surroundings I soon realized that I was lying on my back. A bed? Not very comfortable.

Light began to pour in through my closed eye lids. I could hear clicking noises not too far from where I was. As I continued listening, I realized someone was typing on a computer. Why am I not opening my eyes? I don’t know. I just don’t feel like it, I guess. After what all had just happened…what all happened exactly? The last thing I remember was standing in the lobby.

Oh, yeah. I blacked out. But where am I now? Probably the nurse’s office. But I don’t care. I like it here. I feel calm lying here with my eyes closed. I can finally breathe and it’s such an amazing feeling. Despite the fact the bed is absolutely horrid, I could honestly fall asleep right now. I don’t want to move. I don’t want to go to class. And most importantly, I don’t want to feel like I did a while ago.

I wonder how long ago it happened. A few minutes, maybe? Maybe I could manage to act like I’m still knocked out. I doubt I could all day, though. Maybe I should just “wake up" and try to convince the nurse to let me stay here because of what happened. Or let me go home. Yeah, that will work. It has to. Who wouldn’t let me go home after what happened?

As I began to ponder my first move, I heard a chair on wheels roll across the tile floor followed by footsteps coming in my direction. As soon as I heard them stop, I slowly began to flicker my eyes open. My vision was a bit blurred at first and I quickly open and shut them a bit until I finally could focus on the face of the woman looking down at me. She had caramel colored hair and deep green eyes. She seemed to be in her mid-thirties. A small smile slowly spread across her face. “Well, hello there! I’m glad to see you’re awake. I heard you had quite the morning!"

As I continued studying her face and her voice, she quickly began to remind me of my mother. Except my mother has blonde hair. And blue eyes. And doesn’t have an English accent. I don’t know what it was…just something about the vibe she gave off screamed my mother.

And I didn’t like it.

But I decided to put away my first impression and begin my plan. I need her to like me, that’s for sure. “I don’t know what happened." I said as I continued lying down. “Did you eat breakfast this morning?" “No." I replied. “Well then, that’s probably why you passed out! Just start eating breakfast and you’ll be fine. Luckily, I think you’re fine enough to go to class now. You can go on ahead to second period."

Excuse me? I don’t think so. I slowly sat up and said, “Umm…excuse me, Mrs…?" “Mrs. Phillips." I cleared my throat and began to speak again, “I really don’t think it’s a very good idea for me to go back to class after all that’s happened. Don’t you think?" I gave her my best sad and pleading look. I felt absolutely ridiculous. I couldn’t keep this up much longer. I’m about to explode. Please, please, just let me go back to my house.

She looked at me like I was five years old and said, “And what on earth do you expect to do if you don’t go back to class, young lady?" Alright, it is now taking every fiber of my being to not go off on her. “I was hoping that you would allow me to go home. Please?" I tried coming off as sweet and polite but it didn’t seem to be working very well. She looked me over for a moment as if she could tell whether or not I was well enough to stay at school just by looking at me.

“No. You’re not going home." She quickly wrote me a slip to go back to class. I took it and left the room which led to a hall. To the right was a continuation of the hall that lead back to the rest of the school and the class rooms. To the left the hall was much shorter and led to an exit door.

I went left.

@iamsuchaoneDfan Aw, thank you very much! I'm so glad you like it so far. :)

I barely read the first chapter and I already love this story

@Nialls Girl_25_10 Good question! I honestly didn't think of that. I probably could have made it work, but the thing is, Niall is a senior in high school. I could have had him drop out like Harry but I really wouldn't have wanted to have him drop out too.

Thanks for asking! Sorry Niall isn't in it right now. But I can tell you that he'll be back eventually. ;) I'll be updating Friday. :)
