Loved You First (Sequel to Simon's Daughter)
Chapter 23
Julia’s POV:
“Are you sure this is a good idea…?” Christa asked me over the phone. I knew she was concerned, but I’ve been trying my best to move on. I was visiting my dad in England, and Lexi and I had already landed. There was no turning back now anyways, so I’m not sure why she was asking.
“Look, we’re already here, so it doesn’t matter.” I sighed, shrugging my shoulders, even though she couldn’t see.
“Grandpa!” I heard Lexi shout. I turned around seeing my dad with Lexi in his arms.
“Gotta go, Chris. Talk to you later.” I pressed end call, and slid my phone into my back pocket. I walked over to my father, giving him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek.
“How are my two favorite girls?” He asked, spinning Lexi around while she giggled.
“We’re doing pretty well.” I said nonchalantly.
“You sure?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. I knew exactly what he meant by that. I decided to brush it off, not wanting to talk about it.
“So, are we ready to go?” I asked, looking away while grabbing my luggage. I could hear my dad sigh, but grab a suitcase also, leading us out of the airport.
--
“Dad, we’ll be back later.” I said, poking my head into his office. He looked up from whatever he was doing, and tilted his head.
“Love, you’ve been inside for not even an hour. Don’t you just want to relax or something?” He asked. I sighed shaking my head.
“I can’t. It’s not fair to Lexi…” I bit the inside of my cheek. I’m going to be honest, it was easy having Niall around because he always wanted to hang with Lexi so I could have a break. But now It’s just me again. Don’t get me wrong how could I not love Lexi, she’s my world. But she could definitely be tiring.
“Jules, I could always—“
“No, no, it’s fine. See ya later, dad.” I gave him a small smile, before turning around and closing the door behind me.
“Mommy can we go now?” Lexi asked, holding her arms out to me. I nodded my head, picking her up, and placing her on my hip.
“Babe, you’re almost getting too old for me to be picking you up. You’re almost four, you know.” I laughed slightly, as she just buried her head in the crook of my neck.
--
“Make sure I can see you, okay?” I said to Lexi before she could run off onto the playground. She nodded her head and turned around to go play on the playground. I made my way over to a little area, and sat myself under a tree in the shade. I smiled happily seeing Lexi play with a few other kids.
“Julia…?”
I turned around, shocked by who was here.
I thought I was done with them, but I guess they just keep coming back.
